Background Cataract with preexisted dry eye is a common eye disease.It is speculated that preservative-free artificial tears can inhibit inflammatory procedure,prevent postoperative eye infections and reduce dry eye symptoms.However,relevant literature is rare up to now.Objective This study was to evaluate and compare the therapeutic effects between preservative-free or preservative sodium hyaluronate combined with fluorometholone eyedrops for cataract with dry-eye.Methods A randomized controlled single-blind clinical study was performed.Sixty patients with dry-eye syndrome who was going to receive surgery for cataract removal were enrolled in Yuhuangding Hospital from January to December 2015 under the informed consent.The patients were randomly divided into the test group and control group.Preservative-free or preservative 0.1％ sodium hyaluronate combined with 0.1％ fluorometholone eye drops were topically administered in the eyes of the test group and control group,respectively.Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) score,breakup time of tearfilm (BUT),Schirmer Ⅰ test (S I t),corneal fluorescein staining,impression cytology,goblet cell density and the concentrations of interleukin (IL)-1β,tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α,catalase (CAT),superoxide dismutase 2 (SOD2) in tears were evaluated and compared.Results There were significant differences in gender,ages,OSDI scores,BUT,S I t value,corneal fluorescein staining scores,impression cytology findings,and goblet cell density between the two groups (all at P＞0.05).OSDI,corneal fluorescein staining scores and imprint cellular level were evidently reduced,and BUT,S I t values and goblet cell density were significantly increased 1 month and 2 months after operation in comparison with the baseline values in the test group (F =13.058,8.027,3.755,21.652,70.962,92.354,all at P ＜ 0.05).The concentrations of IL-1β and TNF-α in tears of the test group were significantly lower,and CAT and SOD2 in the tears of the test group were significantly higher than those in the control group 1 month and 2 months after operation (F=18.731,9.070,15.357,351.359,all at P＞0.05).Conclusions 0.1％ preservative-free sodium hyaluronate combined with 0.1％ fluorometholone eyedrops can relieve the symptoms and signs of dry-eyes following cataract surgery by playing antiinflammatory and antioxidant effects.

Penile vascular endothelial damage, vasomotor dysfunction, and blood flow deficiency are the major causes of erectile dysfunction (ED). Current management of ED mostly depends on selective phosphodiesterase type 5- (PDE5) inhibitors, which fail for some ED patients. For Peyronie's disease-induced ED, surgical and physical therapies are used in addition to PDE5I medication, but frequently it is difficult to achieve satisfactory results. Recent studies show that the low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy can promote angiogenesis and improve blood flow to the penis, which promises to be a novel effective therapy for ED and Peyronie's disease.

BACKGROUND: Studies showed cellular adhesion molecule and neurotrophic factor secreted from olfactory ensheathing cells (OECs) could protect the spinal neurons and promote the regeneration of spinal axon. OBJECTIVE: To compare the competence to repair spinal cord injury between olfactory mucosa OECs and olfactory bulb OECs. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Randomized control animal experiment was performed in the central laboratory of Xidian Group Hospital between June 2007 and June 2008. MATERIALS: Twelve male SD rats were randomized selected and divided into experiment group (n=6, 23 months old) and control group (n=6, 3 months old). They were used for in vitro culture and purification of OECs; other 30 SD rats were randomized into three groups of 10 rats each: neonatal rat olfactory bulb OECs transplantation group, normal olfactory mucosa OECs transplantation group and blank control group.METHODS: Spinal cord injury models were produced in 30 rats, which were transplanted with the neonatal rat or SD rat OECs cultured in vitro. No transplant was given in the control group. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: At 4 and 8 weeks postoperation, the Basso, Beattie, Bresnahan (BBB) score for nerve function, the evoked potential of legs and the histopathological diversify of injured spinal cord. RESULTS: Seven rats died dudng the experiment process, and the death rate was similar between groups. At 4 and 8 weeks postoperation, there was no significant difference in the BBB scores between neonatal rat olfactory bulb OECs transplantation group and normal olfactory mucosa OECs transplantation group (P > 0.05), which were both significantly higher than blank control group (P < 0.001); the BBB scores in two transplantation groups were higher at 8 weeks than at 4 weeks (P < 0.01 ). At 4 weeks postoperaUon, no animal was shown to elicit motion evoked potential, but it was present in two transplantation groups at 8 weeks, with no significant difference between two groups (P > 0.05). The blank control group had still no motion evoked potential (P < 0.001 ). At 8 weeks postoperation, more cell infiltrations were found in the injured spinal cord of two transplantation groups, while few in the control group.CONCLUSION: Both OECs dissociated from olfactory bulb and olfactory mucosa have the same ability to repair the injured spinal cord, and their effect is similar.

Objective:To investigate the expression of anti-endothelial cell antibodies(AECA) in patients serum with anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody( ANCA) negative pauci-immune deposition type crescentic glomerulonephritis and its relationship with clinical signatures. Methods:We selected 94 pauci-immune deposition type crescentic glomerulonephritis patients from 2010 to 2015 treated in our hospital,45 of which with ANCA-negative( observation group) and 49 cases of ANCA-positive patients ( control group) , AECA levels of each groups serum were detected by Western blot test. Results: The average age of the observation group and Bermingham vasculitis activity score(BVAS) respectively (41. 08 +9. 43) years old and (15. 03 +3. 82),significantly lower than the control group (P<0. 05);the observation group had fever,joint pain accounted for 26. 67% and 13. 33%,significantly lower than the control group ( P<0. 05 );the observation group of nephrotic syndrome accounted for 48. 89%, higher than the control group ( P<0. 05);observation group positive rate of serum AECA was 46. 67%,significantly lower than the control group 81. 63% (P<0. 05);the observation group IgG-AECA identified 7 proteins,while the control group had identified 11 proteins,of which the observation group the positive rate of anti 90 kD antibody was 13. 33%( 6/45 ) , significantly lower than the control group 51. 02%( 25/49 ) ( P<0. 05 );observation group of anti 76 kD antibody positive patients had rash ratio of 100%, significantly higher than negative patients ( P<0. 05),anti 200 kD antibody positive the BVAS score of the patients was (18. 02 + 2. 51),which was significantly higher than that of the negative patients ( P < 0. 05 ) . Conclusion: The different level of AECA in ANCA negative pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis patients may be associated with certain clinical manifestations;clinical manifestations differences between the ANCA negative and positive patients may be associated with different expression of the AECA related,the detail need a further study.

When the body is attacked by trauma and infection,the serum C-reactive protein( CRP) con-centration which is produced by the liver will increase.CRP participates in the body′s humoral immunity through regulating the phagocytic cells to clear the pathogenic bacteria and necrotic tissue.The occurrence and develop-ment of malignant tumor is associated with complex inflammatory response pathway.Serum CRP concentration will change with the progress and remission of tumor.CRP is associated with differentiation of benign and malignant, the early diagnosis,the pathological stage,the lymph node metastasis,the organizational characteristics,the prog-nosis,and the treatment of malignant tumor.It is expected to be a clinical screening indicator of malignant tumor.

AIM To study comparision of water-soluble components in Danshen from different sources. METHODS To be determined by HPLC, the eluent consisted of methanol (1 % acetic acid)-water (1 % acetic acid). A gradient method was set up. The detection wavelength was set at 280 nm. RESULTS The average recovery of four components were all above 97 % , RSD was no more than 2.0 % . The calibration curve was linear. CONCLUSION The method is accurate and reliable with good reproducibility.

MicroRNA(miRNA) is a class of non-coding RNA that plays an important role in gene expression and controlling. In recent years,the role of miRNA in the development of the disease has aroused great interest. Abnormal osteoclastogenesis and persistent inflammatory response induced by wear particles or osteoblast differentiation and maturation is the main cause of aseptic loosening in joint replacements. New researches shows that persistent inflammatory response, osteoclastogenesis and osteoblast differentiation are closely associated with miRNA, suggesting that there are certain relations between miRNA and aseptic loosening of prostheses. Additionally, the alteration of the expression levels of some miRNA may be curative for aseptic loosening. With the findings of the new miRNA targets, the important role of miRNA is further confirmed.

Objective To investigate the effects of trimetazidine on renal function in patients with shock.Methods A prospective randomized controlled double-blind study was conducted.128 patients with shock admitted to intensive care unit (ICU) of Guangzhou Red Cross Hospital from April 2011 to April 2013 were enrolled and randomly divided into control group and trimetazidine treatment group,each n＝64.All patients received anti-shock treatment,while the patients in trimetazidine group received trimetazidine treatment (20 mg orally,tid) for 7 days,and patients in control group received placebo (10 mL of sterile water for injection,tid) for 7 days.The urinary output,serum creatinine (SCr),blood urea nitrogen (BUN),cystatin C,and creatinine clearance (CCr) reflecting renal function were recorded in both groups,and the values were compared before treatment,48 hours after treatment,and 1 week after the treatment.At the same time,dynamic mean arterial pressure (MAP) was monitored,and 48-hour and 1-week mortality rates were recorded.Results There was no significant difference in results in all the renal function parameters before the treatment between two groups.The levels of SCr,BUN,cystatin C were gradually decreased after treatment in both groups,but CCr and MAP were gradually increased.Compared with the control group,cystatin C at 48 hours after treatment was significantly decreased,while CCr was significantly increased in treatment group [cystatin C (mg/L):0.85 ± 0.81 vs.1.01 ± 0.91,t=2.562,P=0.017; CCr (mL/s):0.93 ± 0.64 vs.0.69 ± 0.40,t=2.155,P=0.033].SCr and BUN at 1 week after treatment were significantly decreased in treatment group [SCr (lμmol/L):94.23 ± 88.31 vs.104.99 ± 98.37,t=2.921,P=0.003 ; BUN (mmol/L):9.46 ± 8.24 vs.11.87 ± 8.65,t=2.611,P=0.010].Urine output per hour and MAP was improved after treatment in both groups,and no significant difference was found between treatment group and control group [urine output (mL):48 hours after treatment 55.67 ± 31.43 vs.45.34 ± 11.79,t =0.934,P=0.323 ; 1 week after treatment 71.67 ± 37.23 vs.75.35 ± 22.88,t=1.280,P=0.210; MAP (mmHg,1 mmHg=0.133 kPa):48 hours after treatment 72.13 ± 33.24 vs.69.28 ± 39.98,t=1.408,P=0.179; 1 week after treatment 71.44 ± 21.98 vs.72.32 ± 31.11,t =1.184,P =0.252].Mortality rate in treatment group was lowered compared with control group,however no statistical significance was found [48 hours after treatment:31.2％ (20/64) vs.32.8％ (21/64),x2=0.084,P=0.785; 1 week after treatment:32.8％ (21/64) vs.35.9％ (23/64),x2=2.084,P=0.173].Conclusions Trimetazidine can improve renal function in patients with shock.
