Objective To evaluate the palliative effect on pain relief in patients with multiple bone metastases treated with 89SrCl2 together with Sodium Ibandronate,Sodium Ibandronate alone and 89SrCl2 alone. Methods Eighty-four patients with bone pain secondary to bone metastases were divided into three groups. Thirty patients were treated with combined 89SrCl2 and Sodium Ibandronate,26 with 89SrCl2 alone and 28 with Sodium Ibandronate alone. The x2 test was used in data analysis. Results The overall palliative pain relief rate in the combined treatment group was 96.6 % (29/30). For the groups using Sodium Ibandronate or 89SrCl2 only, the palliative rates were 71.4% (20/28) and 73.1% (19/26),respectively. There are statistically significant differences between the combined treatment group and the other 2 groups with single treatment modalities in the overall palliative pain relief rate (x2 = 7.497 ),in terms of improvement in (1) whole body Karnofsky performance status (KPS) score (80.0% (24/30) vs 50.0% (14/28)/53.8% (14/26),x2 =35.476) and (2) focal palliative rate (47.6% (50/105) vs 11.2% (11/98)/22.2% (20/90),x2 =6. 564,all P < 0. 05 ). Conclusions Combined treatment with 89 SrCl2 and Sodium Ibandronate is more effective than single treatment modalities to relieve bone pain seccondary to multiple bone metastases.

The dynamic character of acupoint has been observed extensively, but it is rarely analyzed systematically. The aim of this paper is to analyze the essence of this unique dynamic character of acupoint based on old and modern research literatures. Modern studies are summarized on qi and blood changes on the same acupoint at different times, in different physiological and pathological conditions and different syndrome types. On the basis of the literatures, the scientific base of dynamic character of acupoint is explored preliminarily. The authors propose that the dynamic character of acupoint should be focus on the modern theory of acupuncture and clinical treatment and modern preventive medicine, and the authors also put forward ideas and prospect on the essence, basis and application direction of dynamic character of acupoint.

BACKGROUND: Hypothermia is associated with poor outcome in trauma patients; however, hemorrhagic shock (HS) model with anesthetized swine was different from that of clinical reality. To identify the effects of environmental hypothermia on HS, we investigated hemodynamics and oxygen dynamics in an unanesthetized swine model of HS under simulating hypothermia environment.METHODS: Totally 16 Bama pigs were randomly divided into ambient temperature group (group A) and low temperature group (group B), 8 pigs in each group. Venous blood (30 mL/kg) was continuously withdrawn for more than 15 minutes in conscious swine to establish a hemorrhagic shock model. Pulmonary arterial temperature (Tp), heart rate (HR), mean arterial pressure (MAP), pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP), pulmonary arterial wedge pressure (PAWP), central venous pressure (CVP), cardiac output (CO), hemoglobin (Hb), saturation of mixed venous blood (SvO2) and blood gas analysis were recorded at the baseline and different hemorrhagic shock time (HST). The whole body oxygen delivery indices, DO2I and VO2I, and the O2 extraction ratio (O2ER) were calculated.RESULTS: Core body temperature in group A decreased slightly after the hemorrhagic shock model was established, and environmental hypothermia decreased in core body temperature. The mortality rate was significantly higher in group B (50%) than in group A (0%). DO2I and VO2I decreased significantly after hemorrhage. No difference was found in hemodynamics, DO2I and VO2I between group A and group B, but the difference in pH, lactic acid and O2ER was significant between the two groups.CONCLUSION: Environmental hypothermia aggravated the disorder of oxygen metabolism after hemorrhagic shock, which was associated with poor prognosis.

OBJECTIVETo compare and analyze the effects of the contents of the active components in Radix Scutellariae by different processing and extracting methods.
METHODThe raw and processed Radix Scutellariae were used, and the concentration of baicalin, wogonoside, baicalein, wogonin were determined by HPLC after five extracting techniques. HPLC method was performed on methanol-acetonitrile-water-acetic acid (18: 25: 57: 0.2) as the mobile phase at 30 C; The chromatographic column was Agilent Zorbax Extend-C18 (4.6 mm x 250 mm, 5 microm); The flow rate was 0.8 mL min(-1), and the detection wavelength was 275 nm.
RESULTthe ratios of baicalein and wogonin in raw material were 5.41%, 1.30% respectively by enzymatic extraction, which is higher than other extracting methods by raw material; The ratios of baicalin and wogonoside in raw material were 10.11% and 3.55% by ethanol of 60%, which is higher than other extracting methods; Different extracting methods have no evident effects on processed materials, enzymatic extraction is the best. The ratio of baicalin, wogonoside and baicalein, wogonin is 10.63%, 3.60% and 1.54%, 0.59%.
CONCLUSIONDifferent methods have evident extracting effects on the four active components with raw material, but have no evident effects with processed material. According to different active components most suitable extracting method should be adopted.

Objective To introduce the clinical experience and investigate venous drainage of distal- ly-based dorsal digital neurocutaneous flap for finger-pulp reconstruction. Methods From Mar.2004 to Oct.2005,18 patients with traumatic finger-pulp defect (>2cm) were treated by distally based dorsal ho- modigital neurocutaneous flaps. The flap measured 2 cm?2cm~3cm?4cm with the neuro-veno-adipal ped- icle 1cm wide and 2~3cm long. The pivot points were proximal to the PIP joints. The dorsal digital nerve was neurorrhaphied with the proper digital nerve of the recipient site. The dorsal digital vein was ligated at 1cm distal to the pivot point to prevent venous ingress. No venous anastomosis was performed. Results All the flaps survived but had some degrees of venous congestion and swelling, and 8 flaps developed tension blisters. In 13 flaps with follow-up more than 6 months, protective sensation was restored. Conclusion Dorsal digit- al neurocutaneous flap is simple and effective for finger-pulp reconstruction.Ligating the big superficial vein at the distal base to interrupt venous ingress, and allowing the proximal vein open and venous egress, can reduce flap congestion and swelling.
