Objective To establish a reference range for the normal value of thromboelastography (TEG) in pregnant females.Methods According to the results of pregnancy and physical examination,166 pregnant females and 64 healthy females without pregnancy were selected as the pregnant group and the non-pregnant control group,respectively.The TEG value and the traditional coagulation index were measured.The TEG parameters of the two groups were compared and analyzed,establishing a reference range for the parameters.We further analyzed the effect of full-term pregnancy on TEG results and the correlation between traditional coagulation index and TEG test results.Results The traditional coagulation index and TEG test results of the pregnant females andthe non-pregnant females were significantly different.According to the results,a new TEG reference range was established:R 3.9-7.5 min,K 1.0-2.4 min,α 57.6°-74.9°,MA 55.7-75.7 mm,LY30 0-0.56％,CI(-0.97)-3.6.Full-term pregnancy had no significant effect on TEG results.In addition to LY30,other parameters of TEG had some correlation with the traditional coagulation index.Conclusions The general TEG reference range does not apply to pregnant females and established TEG normal reference range for pregnant females can be applied for clinical use.

Previous work from this laboratory has cloned a novel gene NOR1 and showed its extensive expression in normal tissues and down-regulation in carcinomas. To further investigate its downstream target genes and better understand its function, NOR1 was over-expressed in HepG2 hepatoma cells and global changes in gene expressions from a stable line were identified by cDNA microarrays. The results discovered 59 genes up-regulated in these cells compared with the original cells, including Grb2, HBP17,TNFRSF11B genes that have been implicated in tumorigenesis and cancer development. In addition, 103 down-regalated genes were also identified, including genes encoding Bik, MAP2K6 and ZFP95 proteins. The expression patterns of certain genes identified by microarrays were validated by quantitative real-time PCR and the results showed that expression difference were statistically significant (P< 0.05). These data suggest that NOR1 may influence the biology and cancerous behaviors of HepG2 cells by regulating expression of a set of genes involved in signal traasduction, cell cycle regulation, transcription and Wanslation controls.

Objection To investigate the spectrum and survival status of HIV positive cancer in HuBei province, China. Methods HIV positive cancer patients were added up and followed up who had registered in Zhongnan Hospital between January 2004 and June 2009. The prognostic features were determined for HIV patients with cancer. Results The average age of HIV positive and HIV negative group who suffered with malignant neoplasm were 42.5±8.8 years and 55.1±13.7 years respectively (P ＜0.05), mean CD4 counts were (220.9±142.3)/μl and (554.4±174.3)/μl, respectively (P ＜0.05), the types of common cancer were NHL, cervical cancer, liver cancer and lung cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, respectively. Anticancer and/or ART treatment were the important positive prognostic factors. Additional factors such as age and CD4 count were associated with survival of cancer patients with HIV infection. Conclusion Mean age of HIV positive cancer patients is about 42 years old. NHL, cervical cancer and liver cancer are HIV associated malignant tumor. ART and anticancer can effectively prolong the survival of HIV infected patients with cancer.

Objective To identify the effect of specialized language training on the speech rehabilitation of total laryngectomy (TL)patients.Methods Twenty-seven TL patients were trained for esophageal speech by specialized speech-language pathologists from October 2005 to December 2006.Then the participants were followed and evaluated their esophageal speech level after one cycle of training program,1 month,3 months,6 months and 12 months after training program.Results The score of participants' esophageal speech was steadily improved during the 12 months after participating the training program.The score of esophageal speech greatly increased in the third month,and this significant improvement was kept until 12 months after the training program.The esophageal speech quality was negatively correlated with age and surgery area of patients.Conclusions Specialized speech-language training showed positive effect on esophageal speech rehabilitation,and esophageal speech training by specialists is worthy of wide application.
