Objective:To study the pathological changes of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cases after the treat-ment of stereotactic radiosurgery. Method: 15 cases with recurrent or residual squamous cell carcinoma of na-sopharynx diagnosed as T1~4 N0M0 were selected, which had undergone previous radiotherapy. The patients weretreated by Gamma Knife while the isodose curve was 50%00 and the margin dose was 20 Gy. The nasopharynxbiopsy was performed before the treatment and 1,3,6,12 months after the treatment. The biopsy specimen wastaken to make a pathological examination. Result:①Before the Gamma Knife treatment, carcinoma cell could beseen in the tissue;②1~3 months after the treatment, cell necrosis and acute inflammation cell infiltration couldbe seen in the target ;③6~12 months after the treatment ,infiltration of chronic inflammation cell ,proliferation offibrous tissue and capillary could be found in the target. Conclusion:This research implies that the short-termpathological changes after the treatment of stereotactic radiosurgery can be defined as two phases ..The first phaseoccurs from 1 to 3 months after the treatment called necrosis period. The second phase occurs from 6 to 12months after the Gamma Knife treatment named as absorption period.

PURPOSE: Lung adenocarcinoma (LA) is one of the major types of lung cancer. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play an essential role in regulating responses of natural killer (NK) cells to cancer malignancy. However, the mechanism of miR-218-5p involved in the killing effect of NK cells to LA cells remains poorly understood. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The expression of miR-218-5p was examined by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Serine hydroxymethyl transferase 1 (SHMT1) level was detected by qRT-PCR or western blots. Cytokines production of interferon-γ (IFN-γ) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were detected by ELISA. The killing effect of NK cells to LA cells was investigated using lactate dehydrogenase cytotoxicity assay kit. The interaction of miR-218-5p and SHMT1 was probed by luciferase activity assay. Xenograft model was established to investigate the killing effect of NK cells in vivo. RESULTS: miR-218-5p was enhanced and SHMT1 was inhibited in NK cells of LA patients, whereas stimulation of interleukin-2 (IL-2) reversed their abundances. Addition of miR-218-5p reduced IL-2-induced cytokines expression and cytotoxicity in NK-92 against LA cells. Moreover, SHMT1 was negatively regulated by miR-218-5p and attenuated miR-218-5p-mediated effect on cytotoxicity, IFN-γ and TNF-α secretion in IL-2-activated NK cells. In addition, miR-218-5p exhaustion inhibited tumor growth by promoting killing effect of NK cells. CONCLUSION: miR-218-5p suppresses the killing effect of NK cells to LA cells by targeting SHMT1, providing a potential target for LA treatment by ameliorating NK cells function.

Objective:To analyze the association of respiratory syncytial virus infection with meteorological factors and to predict and explain the trends. Methods:Data of cases with severe acute respiratory infections in hospitalized children in Xuzhou City were collected from 2015-2021. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) was detected by real-time fluorescence polymerase chain reaction. The result were statistically analyzed using SPSS 26.0 software, including constructing a negative binomial regression model to explore meteorological factors that impact RSV detection and a multivariate time series model to predict its epidemiological trend from 2020 to 2021.Results:A total of 1 663 samples of children with severe acute respiratory infections were collected from 2015to 2021, of which 218 (13.1%) were positive for RSV. Seasonal effects on RSV detection were evident: there was a 1-year cycle with a peak in winter (December-February) and a trough in summer (June-August). The negative binomial regression analysis showed that monthly mean temperature, monthly mean relative humidity, and monthly total sunshine hours may influenced RSV detection. The prediction result of the time series model with sunshine hours as the covariate showed that the prediction was better for 2020, and the actual values were close to the predicted values. The expected trends in 2021 were consistent, but the actual values were higher than predicted. Conclusions:Monthly mean temperature, monthly mean relative humidity, and monthly total sunshine hours may influence RSV detection in the Xuzhou region.A prediction model can be built using data from 2015-2019, where deviations in the predicted values for 2021, reflecting that disease prevalence is multifactorial correlated, suggest a possible rise in RSV prevalence in the future.

The aim of this paper was to investigate the effect of total saponins from Panax japonicus( SPJ) on cognitive decline of natural aging rats and its mechanism. Thirty male SD rats of eighteen month old were randomly divided into three groups: aged group,10 mg·kg~(-1) SPJ-treated group and 30 mg·kg~(-1) SPJ-treated group. The SPJ-treated groups were given SPJ at the dosages of 10 mg·kg~(-1) and 30 mg·kg~(-1),respectively,from the age of 18 to 24 months. Aged group were lavaged the same amount of saline,10 six-month-old rats were used as control group, with 10 rats in each group. The open field test, novel object recognition and Morris water maze were performed to detect the changes of cognitive function in each group. The changes of synaptic transmission of long-term potentiation( LTP) in hippocampal CA1 region were detected by field potential recording. Western blot was used to detect the protein levels of NLRP3,ASC,caspase-1 and the changes of Glu A1,Glu A2,CAMKⅡ,CREB and phosphorylation of CAMKⅡ,CREB in each group. The results showed that SPJ could improve the decline of cognitive function in aging rats, reduce the damage of LTP in the hippocampal CA1 region of aged rats, and decrease the expression of NLRP3,ASC,caspase-1 in aging rats. At the same time,SPJ could enhance the membrane expression of AMPA receptor( Glu A1 and Glu A2),and increase the expression of p-CAMKⅡand p-CREB in aging rats.SPJ could improve cognitive decline of natural aging rats, and its mechanism may be related to regulating NLRP3 inflammasome, thus regulating the membrane expression of AMPA receptor, and enhancing the expression phosphorylation of CAMKⅡ and CREB.

Chinese Journal of Trauma 2023;39(9):769-779
Traumatic cerebrospinal fluid leakage commonly presents in traumatic brain injury patients, and it may lead to complications such as meningitis, ventriculitis, brain abscess, subdural hematoma or tension pneumocephalus. When misdiagnosed or inappropriately treated, traumatic cerebrospinal fluid leakage may result in severe complications and may be life-threatening. Some traumatic cerebrospinal fluid leakage has concealed manifestations and is prone to misdiagnosis. Due to different sites and mechanisms of trauma and degree of cerebrospinal fluid leak, treatments for traumatic cerebrospinal fluid leakage varies greatly. Hence, the Craniocerebral Trauma Professional Group of Neurosurgery Branch of Chinese Medical Association and the Neurological Injury Professional Group of Trauma Branch of Chinese Medical Association organized relevant experts to formulate the " Chinese expert consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of traumatic cerebrospinal fluid leakage in adults ( version 2023)" based on existing clinical evidence and experience. The consensus consisted of 16 recommendations, covering the leakage diagnosis, localization, treatments, and intracranial infection prevention, so as to standardize the diagnosis and treatment of traumatic cerebrospinal fluid leakage and improve the overall prognosis of the patients.
