Cell sheet engineering is an important technology to harvest the cultured cells in the form of confluent monolayers using a continuous culture method and a physical approach. Avoiding the use of enzymes, expended cells can be harvested together with endogenous extracellular matrix, cell-matrix contacts, and cell-cell contacts. With high efficiency of cell loading ability and without using exogenous scaffolds, cell sheet engineering has several advantages over traditional tissue engineering methods. In this article, we give an overview on cell sheet technology about its applications in the filed of tissue regeneration, including the construction of soft tissues (corneal, mucous membrane, myocardium, blood vessel, pancreas islet, liver, bladder and skin) and hard tissues (bone, cartilage and tooth root). This techonoly is promising to provide a novel strategy for the development of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. And further works should be carried out on the operability of this technology and its feasibility to construct thick tissues.

Tibetan Medicine (TM) has become important source of feature industry in several main Tibetan regions with its unique cultural and natural resources. This article argued that the researches on TM basic theories are weak;ecological environment for TM is fragile;safety evaluation ability is relatively insufficient;standardization system for researches on TM is needed; reasonable talent team supporting the development of TM industry is required; The combination of production, learning and research is not close;innovation ability is low;guiding principles for the evaluation of new TM do not exist. All of these are main factors that restrict the development of TM industry. Therefore, the main measures for the promotion of TM are:improve research level of TM theories;strengthen the protection of TM resources;promote national standard construction of TM;improve collaborative innovation ability of TM;enhance talent team construction;formulate appropriate policies and create good marketing environment.

Objective To observe the effects of stereotactic implanting depth electrode into the hippocampus on monitoring mesial temporal lobe epilepsy. Methods Thirteen patients with pharmacoresistant epilepsy were included in the present study. The epilcptogenic zone might be located in the hippocampus based on the symptoms and MRI data.Eight-contact depth electrode was implanted into the patients' hippocampus by stereotactic procedures to record the electroencephalogram(EEG).The duration of monitoring lasted for 24-72 hours or more,so as to be sure if the epileptogenic zone was located in the hippocampus, and to provide evidences for surgical resection of epileptic focus. Results Thirteen patients with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy underwent video electroencephalogram monitoring for 72 hours.Twentynine epileptic seizures in 7 patients were detected.Ictal EEG changes manifested as paroxysmal slow wave or spike and slow waves on the background. The epileptiform discharges started from some electrode points, and then propagated to others or the contralateral electrode. After 1-2 seconds of delay, high amplitude slow waves with the frequency of 3-4 Hz were observed on the ipsilateral scalp EEG. Clinical epileptic seizures were not detected in 6 patients during monitoring, depth electrode showed paroxysmal focal high amplitude slow wave or spike and sharp waves, scalp EEG did not find abnormality.Six of thirteen patients received surgical resection of epileptic foci, the outcome during follow-up of 3-8 months was satisfactory. Conclusions To record hippocampal EEG in patients with intractable epilepsy by stereotactic implanting depth electrode into the hippocampus might be a safe and reliable method. It might provide strong evidences for the diagnosis of patients with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy, and for the location of epilcptogenic zone.

Objective To obtain the acceptable range for posed smile characteristic index,in order to supply diagnostic and therapeutic basis for orthodontic treatment. Methods The 200 subjects included in the study consisted of 100 experienced orthodontists and 100 laypersons. Both two frontal posed smile photographs of man and woman were changed by several smile characteristic indexes, including the amount of incisor exposure, amount of gingival display, smile arc, buccal corridor fill, horizontal inclination of maxillary occlusal plate and distance from lower lip to maxillary incisor. All the subjects were desired to evaluate each images according to their own aesthetic standard. Results Each acceptable range for the amount of incisor exposure, amount of gingival display, smile arc, buccal corridor fill, horizontal inclination of maxillary occlusal plate and distance from lower lip to maxillary incisor, was 75 %-100 % (male and female),0-2 mm (male) and 0-3 mm (female) ; 50 %-100 %(male and female) ; 0 %-15 % (male) and 0 %-20 % (female) ; 0-6° (male and female) ; 0 mm (male and female)(P<0.05),respectively.And there was perception difference between the orthodontists and the laypersons on smile evaluation (P<0.05).Conclusions Posed smile analysis should be an im portant aspect of orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning.Orthodontists should not disturb con sonant smiles but create them with proper bracket positioning.

Objective To discuss a simple and effective method of medial epicanthoplasty with the subcilliary incision, which can decrease the visible scar. Methods From January of 2007 to De-cember of 2008, 38 patients with epicanthal fold underwent epicanthoplasty using the new method. During the operation a skin incision was subcilliarily made outward from the original medial epican-thus. After elevating the flap and excising the orbicularis oculi muscle beneath the epieanthal fold, the new medial epicanthus was sutured to the designed point. Then subciliary incision was trimmed and sutured. Results Most of the patients obtained satisfactory results. Only one patient complained a-bout visible scarring and none required revision surgery. Scarring was avoided on the noticeable medial canthal region because the only incisions needed were subciliary incisions. Conclusions This method is simple to design and easy to perform. The operative results are effective without visible scars on the medial canthal region.

Objective To evaluate the charateristics of biliary stricture after orthotopic liver transplantation(OLT) by ultrasound. Methods Diametes, thickness, characteristic echo of bile were observed by ultrasound in 41 patients with biliary stricture after OLT,and the results were compared with those of 46 patients without biliary complication after OLT.Results The diameter of intrahepatic bile, thickness of bile, incidence of intrahepatic bile dilation or hyperechogenicity in biliary stricture patiens were higher than those in patients without biliary complication, there were significant differences between two groups(P<0.05).Conclusions The series of ultrasonographic character such as bile dilation, thickeness or hyperechogenicity of biliary wall, thin of bile duct are available to diagnose biliary stricture.

Objective To evaluate the role of endoscopic ultrasonography in the diagnosis and preoperative staging of rectum carcinoma. Methods Fifty-seven patients with rectum carcinoma were performed with preoperative endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasonography. And the staging results of endoscopic ultrasonography were compared to that of postoperative pathological assessment. Result Compared with the pathological staging, the endoscopic ultrasonography staging accuracy rate was 78.9% (45/57),and lymph node metastasis accuracy rate was 73.7% (42/57). Conclusion Endoscopic ultrasonography is effective in diagnosing and preoperative staging of rectum carcinoma.
