1.Compilation ideas on TED-Med Viewing, Listening & Speaking
Chinese Journal of Medical Education Research 2016;15(9):936-939
TED-Med Viewing, Listening&Speaking is compiled to serve academic audio-visual-oral English teaching in medical colleges. This paper elaborates some compilation ideas concerning this text-book. First, both the urgent needs of academic English teaching and the unique advantages of TED speech are the major stimulus to compiling this textbook. Second, its compiling philosophy adheres to learning centered, meaningful input. Third, compiling process is divided into three stages-preparation, writing and evaluation. Third, compiling principles includes four aspects: language and medical knowledge integrate
organically, the text and the task are authentic; proficiency training approaches are scientific; and the text-book is suitable for autonomous learning. Forth, the main content covers four medicine-related themes-humanity, health, disease, science and technology; each theme consists of three sub topics with 12 units (topics) in total; the content is interesting, informative and reflective. These compilation ideas prove to be scientific and feasible demonstrated by English teachers and medical experts. TED-Med Viewing, Listening&Speaking is expected to be completed and published earlier in order to promote academic English teach-ing and research in medical colleges.

Urinary retention is a common complication after abdominal surgery. Urinary retention causes infection and damage to the urinary system, prolonging hospital stays and increasing health care costs in the end. Because medical personnel tend to regard urinary retention as not being a serious problem, it is hard to find any method which decrease the postoperative urinary retention. There are few papers reporting the incidence and the factors which influence the postoperative urinary retention. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the incidence of postoperative urinary retention and to identify the factors which affect the postoperative urinary retention. We retrospectively reviewed 296 patients out of 338, who had been undergone laparotomy under spinal or general endotracheal anesthesia during a three month period from January to March 1998. We reviewed nursing, anesthetic and operative records. Among the 296 patients, male were 189(63.9%) and female were 107(36.1%). Postoperative urinary retention occurred in 71 patients(24%). The incidence rate was higher in female patients than in male (M : F=18% : 35%). Factors that in fluence the incidence of postoperative urinary retention were sex, duration of operation, the amount of fluid given the patient, preoperative history of dysuria, and preoperative insertion of a urinary catheter. Among those factors, preoperative urinary catheter insertion is the most effective preventive measure in lowering the incidence of postoperative urinary retention (Spearman correlation coefficient, r=-.462). Shortening the operation time and sparing the fluid which is infused during operation are important in preventing postoperative urinary retention. Preoperative urinary catheter insertion may be helpful in lowering urinary retention in those patients who have a possibility of postoperative urinary retention.

Objective To obtain skin seed cells which can highly express active vascular endothelial growth factor 165(VEGF165) so as to promote refractory wound healing by gene therapy in combination with cell engineering. Methods After pIRES2-EGFP-hVEGF165 was transfected into dermal mesenchymal stem cells(DMSCs) by lipofectin, the expression of VEGF mRNA was detected by RT-PCR,VEGF protein in the supernatant and in the cells were assayed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) and Westen blotting respectively. To evaluate the activity of VEGF secreted by transfected DMSCs,hECV304 was cultured with the supernatant of transfected DMSCs and its proliferation activity was analyzed by MTT assays.Meanwhile, the proliferation activity of VEGF-transfected DMSCs and non transfected DMSCs was investigated by MTT.Results The results of RT-PCR,ELISA and Western blot demonstrated that the expression of VEGF in transfected DMSCs was about 1.6 times than that of control DMSCs.The product not only enhanced the proliferation of hECV304 but also increased the proliferation of transfected DMSCs.Conclusion The plasmid pIRES2-EGFP-hVEGF165 is successfully transfected into DMSCs with the aid of lipotransfection, and hVEGF165-transfected DMSCs might high-efficiently secrete highly active VEGF165.

Objective To develop and verify a method for determination of residual host cell DNA in recombinant human interferon α2b substances, which is used for the quality control of the product. Methods The residual host cell DNA was extracted by wako DNA extractor kit and determined by SYBRGreen based q-PCR using standard DNA as control. The residual host cell DNA was analyzed according to the standard curve. The developed method was verified by primer specifity, results accuracy and precision and used for determination of 3 batches of interferon substances. Results The minimum quantitative limit of residual host cell DNA by the developed method was 12 fg/μL, while the linear range was 12 fg/μL-120 ng/μL, with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.998.The designed primers were specific to the DNA templates. The recovery rates of spiked samples with different DNA quantity were between 50%-200%.The residual host cell DNA determined by this method were not more than the limit, which were complied with the requirements for residual host cell DNA in Chinese Pharmacopeia ( volume III,2010 edition and 2015 edition) .Conclusion The wako DNA extractor kit could successfully solved the technical difficulties of sample pretreatment during residual DNA assay. The q-PCR method was simple, rapid and accurate for quantitation of residual host cell DNA in interferon substances.

OBJECTIVE: To study the effects of ginsenoside Rg1 on the expression of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) in the brain of rats after the experimental brain contusion. METHODS: A total of twenty-six Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal control group (n=2), untreated group (n=8) and ginsenoside Rg1 group (n=16). Brain injuries were induced in rats by a mechanical striking device. The brain tissues were extracted at different times after brain injury (6th hour, 12th hour, 2nd day, 6th day), then the expression of IGF-1 in brain tissue was examined by immunohistochemical method. RESULTS: In comparison with the normal control group, the expression of IGF-1 in the brain tissues was increased in the untreated group after the brain contusion (P<0.05). The expression of IGF-1 in brain tissues in ginsenoside Rg1 group was significantly increased as compared with the untreated group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Ginsenoside Rg1 enhances the recovery of the contused brain through increasing the expression of IGF-1.

【Objective】To observe the effect of plasma ?-endogenous peptides (?-EP) on gestational function in endometriosis(EMT) rats.【Methods】 Female SD rats at the third estrous cycle were used to establish EMT model. Then 20 EMT rats were equally randomized into the model group and naltrexone(an opioid receptor antagonist) group, and other 10 rats were in the pseudo-operation group.Naltrexone group was given naltrexone 2?mg?kg~-1?d~-1 by gastric gavage during proestrus and normal saline at other time, and the model group and pseudo-operation group were given normal saline for one month.Serum levels of ?-EP,luteinizing hormone(LH) and prolactin(PRL) were examined during proestrus, and serum progesterone(P) level and gestational function were observed after estrus.【Results】Serum levels of ?-EP and PRL increased and LH decreased during proestrus, and serum P level also decreased after estrus in the model group(P

Chinese Journal of Medical Education Research 2021;20(2):134-137
The traditional teaching mode of "subject-centered" has many shortcomings such as knowledge separation and lack of integrity. In order to make up for the deficiencies of this mode, the organ-system integrated medical teaching mode has gradually become the trend of medical teaching reform. Taking "motor system" as an example, this paper discusses the practice of the organ-system integrated medical teaching mode from four aspects: teaching implementation, teaching quality supervision, supporting assessment system and teaching effectiveness.
