1.Acupuncture benefits the motor function of strokes with somnipathy at early stage
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2000;6(2):72-75
patients with steady vital signs and affected by combined somnipathy at the early stage of stroke were divided into three groups according to the date of admission:the experimental group(Group E)and the control groups(Group C1 and Group C2).The rehabilitation programs to all patients are the same, except the somnipathy,(1) patients of Group E were adopted the method of acupuncture and moxibustion coupled with taping and pressing their ear acupuncture points to improve their quality of sleep,(2) patients of Group C1 were asked to administer orally the traquilizers, and (3) no interference was conducted to the patients of Group C2.After 8 weeks of treatment,it is found that,(1) the speed of recovery of the motor function of the patients of both Group E and Group C1 is faster than that of Group C2 (P<0.01).(2) The total sleeping hours of Group E is significantly compared with that of Group C1(P<0.05).This shows that the long-term effects of the acupuncture therapy on sleep are superior to that of the tranquilizer. It suggests that the acupuncture therapy is an improtant method to treat the sequelae and syndrome of stroke.
2.Gottron papules and interstitial lung disease in patients with dermatomyositis
Chinese Journal of Dermatology 2009;42(1):19-21
Objective To assess the relationship between Gottron papules and interstitial lung disease (ILD) in patients with dermatomyositis. Methods Clinical data were retrospectively collected from 83 patients with dermatomyositis (DM), who were classified into two groups based on the presence of Gottron papules. Results The prevalence of Gottron papules and ILD was 59.0% and 42.2%, respectively in these patients. A significant difference was observed in the incidence of ILD between patients with and without Gottron papules (24.5% vs 67.6%, P<0.01). In the patients with ILD, the average value of diffusing capacity of the lung for carbon monoxide (DLCO) in those without Gottron papules was significantly lower than that in those with Gottron papules (60.9±13.5 vs 72.3±12.7, t=2.427, P<0.05). No significant difference was observed between the patients with Gottron papules and those without in muscle strength (4.0±0.9 vs 3.8±1.2), the level of serum creatine phosphokinase (1047.9±1402.7 IU/L vs 1359.7±1752.4 IU/L), lactic acid dehydrogenase (397.2±226.5 IU/L vs 402.4±197.0 IU/L), aspartate aminotransferase (97.6±98.0 IU/L vs 120.1±82.3 IU/L),C reactive protein (11.9±8.3 mg/L vs 15.5±9.8 mg/L), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (26.5±16.4 mm/l h vs 33.3±25.3 mm/l h), the incidence of muscle tendemess (63.3% vs 70.6%) or malignant melanoma (21.4% vs 6.5%). Conclusions Patients presenting Gottron papules tend to show a decreased incidence and severity of ILD. No significant association was observed between the presence of Gottron papules and the degree of muscle changes or dermatomyositis activity, and the presence of Gottron papules seems to have no obvious relationship to the development of malignant melanoma.
3. Expression of fatty acid synthase in lung cancer and its clinical significance
Tumor 2007;27(7):557-561
Objective: Much evidences demonstrate that the fatty acid synthase (FAS) plays an important role in the intiation and progression of various cancers and signs of poor prognosis. But it is not clear whether there is relationship between FAS protein and mRNA expression and lung cancer. The aim of this study was to explore the expressions of FAS protein and mRNA in lung cancer and to analyze its association with clinicopathological features. Methods: Immunohistochemical En Vision™ staining and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) were performed to determine the protein and mRNA expressions of FAS in 67 cases with lung cancer and compared with para-cancerous and normal tissues. Results: The expressions of FAS protein was located in cell cytoplasm. The immunohistochemical EnVisionTM staining showed that the positive rate of FAS protein was 41.8% (28/67)in lung cancer tissue, which was significantly higher than para-cancerous tissue (19.5%, 8/41) and normal tissue(6.25%, 2/32) (P < 0.01). The expressions of FAS mRNA was positive in 67.2% (45/67) of lung cancer tissue, which was also significantly higher than para-cancerous tissue (34.1%, 14/41) and normal tissue (25.0%, 8/32) (P < 0.01). The relative level of FAS mRNA in lung cancer tissues was significantly higher than para-cancerous tissue and normal tissue (0.957 ± 0.326 vs 0. 475 ± 0. 167 and 0.261 ± 0.050, P < 0.01). The expressions of FAS protein and mRNA significantly correlated with the stage and lymph node metastasis (P < 0.01), but had no significant correlation with age, sex, pathological type, and cell differentiation degree. Conclusion: FAS protein and mRNA are over expressed and hyperactivated in lung cancer indicating abnormal fatty acid metabolism during the initiation and development of cancer. FAS can be considered as a valuable marker for diagnosis of lung cancer or serves as a new target for lung cancer therapy.

Journal of Environment and Health 2007;0(10):-
Objective To explore the relationship between the concentration of t, t-2, 4-DDE in cooking oil fume(COF) and the cooking temperature. Methods The temperature control system of oil heating was developed, the activated carbon was used to collect gaseous pollutants. Six samples were prepared at 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210, 240 and 270 ℃. The concentration of t, t-2, 4-DDE in COF was analyzed by GC-FID. Results The concentration of t, t-2, 4-DDE in COF was below the detection limit when the oil temperature was not higher than 120 ℃. Among the 150 ℃ and 270 ℃ groups, the concentration of t, t-2, 4-DDE showed a significant increase. Conclusion The concentration of t, t-2, 4-DDE in COF may obviously increase as the cooking temperature is not lower than 150℃.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(25):3987-3992
BACKGROUND:Many studies have shown that different nanostructures produce different influences on cellbioactivity, but the nanonetwork structure is not reported yet. OBJECTIVE:To study the influence of the nanonetwork topography on the bioactivity of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels. METHODS:The nanonetwork topography was fabricated on biomedical titanium surface by alkali-heat treatment, and pure titanium served as control group. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels were co-cultured with the above two types of samples. cellmorphology and cytoskeleton were observed using scanning electron microscope and immunofluorescence method. The celladhesion, proliferation and osteogenic differentiation were detected by measurement of absorbance values at different culture time. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The nanonetwork topography had significant advantage on the number of adherent cels at 30, 60 and 120 minutes of co-culture. The cellproliferation was significantly accelerated by the nanonetwork topography at days 1, 3, 5 of co-culture, and the absorbance values in the nanonetwork group were significantly higher than those in the pure titanium group (P < 0.05). The alkaline phosphatase activity in the nanonetwork group was also significantly higher than that in the pure titanium group at 14 days of osteogenic induction (P < 0.05). The cellshape and cytoskeleton on the nanonetwork surface were better than those on the titanium surface. These findings indicate that the nanonetwork topography has better effects on cellbioactivity compared with pure titanium.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(29):4724-4729
BACKGROUND:Autologous cartilage has a poor self-repair effect due to low chondrocyte density, low metabolism rate and no blood supply.
OBJECTIVE:To summarize the recent study about tissue engineering techniques and surgical treatment for cartilage injury.
METHODS:A computer-based online retrieval of PubMed database was performed by the first author for articles published between January 1992 and December 2013. The key words are“articular cartilage, injury, tissue engineering, repair”in English. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 61 literatures were included into the final analysis.
RESULTS and CONCLUSION:The current clinical treatment of articular cartilage injury includes joint debridement, mosaicplasty, perichondrium transplantation and autologous chondrocyte implantation. However, their long-term result is unsatisfactory. One reason for limited clinical success is that new cartilage can be formed at the site of a defect, and the repaired tissue canot compare with the autologous cartilage in mechanical property. Tissue engineering technique is stil a hot topic in recent years, because it can potential y induce autologous cartilage formation. Through endogenous or ectogeneous seed cells and inducting factor and nutrient factors, tissue engineering technique can be applied to induce the self-repair of articular cartilage, thus regenerating into hyalinc cartilage with the similar even same biological property. How to simplify the treatment protocols and reduce treatment cost is the key to promote cartilage repair.

Objective To explore the feasibility and the selection of laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC) for the treatment of acute gallstone pancreatitis(AGP) without jaundice. Methods Laparoscopic cholecystectomy had been performed in 95 patients with AGP accompanying no jaundice from July 1996 to July 2004 in this hospital. All of the patients had a history of conservative treatment.Selective LC was performed in 79 patients after their symptoms were relieved, while emergent LC was required in 16 patients because of failure of response to conservative treatment. Results All the operations were successfully completed. The operation time was 40~328 min(mean,103 min),and the intraoperative blood loss was 0~210 ml(mean,35 ml). Intraoperative cholangiography was carried out in all the 95 patients and succeeded in 92.Thirteen patients were found having lower common bile duct stones and then were cured with endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) and endoscopic spincterotomy(EST).No conversion to open operation was required. No postoperative biliary hemorrhage or leakage occurred. No fatal case was seen.Pathological examinations following operation revealed multiple small or sand-like stones in the gallbladder.Follow-up in 39 patients for 1 months ~ 5 years found no recurrence of pancreatitis or cholelithiasis. Conclusions Laparoscopic cholecystectomy should be performed as early as possible in the treatment of AGP without jaundice.Use of intraoperative cholangiography and postoperative EST should be emphasized in proper cases.
