1.The progression on the research of haem oxygenase-1 and diabetic peripheral neuropathy
Chinese Journal of Diabetes 2015;(7):653-656
[Summary] The pathogenesis of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN ) is the result of complex multiple concurrent pathogenic factors ,among which oxidative stress and inflammation play important roles. Multiple data have indicated that haem oxygenase‐1 (HO‐1) and its degradation products products possess the functions of anti‐oxidation ,anti‐inflammation ,anti‐apoptosis and pro‐angiogenesis ,which now becomes a new target for the treatment of DPN. We will briefly review the progression on the research of HO‐1 and DPN.
2.Discussion on concepts of ‘interaction between the heart and the kidney' and‘ non-interaction between the heart and the kidney' in the teaching material of traditional Chinese medicine
Chinese Journal of Medical Education Research 2012;11(9):963-966
There are some problems in the definitions of 'interaction between the heart and the kidney' and 'non-interaction between the heart and the kidney' made in the teaching material of traditional Chinese medicine used by western medicine institutes, colleges and universities. In the teaching material,it explains 'interaction between the heart and the kidney' as the relation between heart fire and kidney water, and 'non-interaction between the beart and the kidney' as the relation between heart-yin and kidney-yin.If we cannot correctly understand the pathogenesis of 'non-interaction between the heart and the kidney',we will fail to determine the concrete treatment method for ' coordinating the heart and the kidney'.Through the analysis and discussion on the theory, clinical syndrome, therapeutic principles and prescriptions for the syndrome of disharmony between the heart and the kidney, the authors draw the conclusion that the therapy for this disease should be determined according to the excess and deficiency of the heat fire and kidney water. For instance,if the deficient kidney water cant ascend to coordinate with the heart and results in exuberance of heart fire,Huanglian Ejiao decoction should be used; in the other situation,if the exuberant heart-fire can't descend to coordinate with the kidney and results in deficiency of kidney yang,Jiaotai Pill should be used. The theoretical results could standardize textbook and give better service to the clinical education.

Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2003;0(12):-
A variety of cytomorphological features, architectural patterns and stromal changes may be observed in malignant melanomas. Hence, melanomas may mimiccarcinomas, sarcomas, benign stromal tumours, lymphomas, plasmacytomas and germ cell tumours. Melanomas may be composed of large pleomorphic cells, small cells, spindle cells and may contain clear, signet-ring, pseudolipoblastic, rhabdoid, plasmacytoid or balloon cells. Various inclusions and phagocytosed material may be present in their cytoplasm. Nuclei may show bi- or multi-nucleation, lobation, inclusions, grooving and angulation. Architectural variations include fasciculation, whorling, nestion, trabeculation, pseudoglandular, pseudopapillary, pseudofollicular, pseudorosetting and angiocentric patterns. Mucoid or desmoplastic changes and very rarely pseudoangiosarcomatous change, granulomatous inflammation or osteoclastic giant cell response may be seen in the stroma. The stromal blood vessels may exhibit a haemangiopericytomatous pattern, proliferation of glomeruloid blood vessels and perivascular hyalinization. Occasionally, differentiation to nonmelanocytic structures (Schwannian, fibro/myofibroblastic, osteocartilaginous, smooth muscle, rhabdomyoblastic, ganglionic and ganglioneuroblastic) may be observed. Typically melanomas are S-100 protein, NKIC3, HMB45, Melan A and tyrosinase positive but some melanomas may exhibit an aberrant immunophenotype and may express cytokeratins, desmin, smooth muscle actin, CD68, CEA, EMA and VS38. Very rarely, neurofilament protein and GFAP positivity may be seen.

Journal of Leukemia & Lymphoma 2010;19(8):475-478
Objective To explore the morphological, immunohistochemical characters and prognosis in one case of patients with cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma complicated with acute myeloid leukemia (C-ALCL-AML). Methods The histopathology, immunohistochemical markers and follow-up information of one case of ALCL-AML was analyzed and the correlated literature was reviewed. Results The patient, 69 year-old, female, was initially present with shin lesion on one finger and abnormal myelogram. The histopathology of shin lesion showed that tumor cells were composed of large cells with abundant cytoplasm, the nuclei were large and irregular, and were infiltrated by Neutrophil and eosinophil. The CD30,CD3 and CD43 of tumor cells were positive, but ALK negative by immunohistochemical method. The number of WBC in peripheral blood was 15.5×109/L and 51 archaeocytes were in every 100 karyotes. Bone marrow aspiration detection showed that bone marrow was hyperplasia and the ratio of myeloblast was 78 %. This patient was diagnosed as C-ALCL-AML, partly differentiation type(AML-M2a). Conclusion C-ALCL-AML is very rare. Its diagnosis is dependent on clinical data, histopathology and immunohistochemical markers. The first choice of treatment is chemotherapy, but its prognosis is poor.

Objective: To improve the limitation and stability of tissue processing on mucosa from small intestine transplantation and to provide better evidence of pathological diagnosis for the acute rejection on small intestine transplantation. Method:92 samples of mucosa from small intestine transplantation were reviewed. There were three methods of tissue processing (ultrasonic wave and microwave as well as routine) were adopted. The results were analyzed with statistical methods. Results: Among 18 samples processed by the method of ultrasonic wave,4 samples were A grade (22.22%). Among 50 samples processed by the method of microwave,30 samples were A grade (60.00%). Among 24 samples processed by the method of routine,13 samples were A grade (54.17%).The Chi Square Test suggested that there was statistic difference among three processing methods. Conclusions: Microwave is the best method of tissue processing on mucosa of small intestine transplantation and for the diagnosis acute rejection.

Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2004;0(01):-
Objective:To investigate the clinic-cytology and histopathology of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) in breasts. Mothods:Twelve cases of NHL of the breast were studied by fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAC), histopathology and immunohistochemistry, and whose clinical data were analysed at the same time. Results:In 12 cases of NHL, 3 cases were T-cell NHL and 9 cases were B-cell NHL. Cytologically, the T-cell NHL cells were mostly arranging in diffuse patterns. The tumor cells were oval and pleomorphism. Some of them had distorted nucleus and thin nuclear envelope. The nucleus showed irregular course chromatin and visible nueleoic. Histopathologically, some of the tumor cells distributed around the blood vessels, and there was an obvious phenomenon of “blood-vessel-closing”. B-cell lymphoma cells were arranginy in diffuse pattern, and showed round and ellipse in shape with a clot and course granular chromatin and visible nueleoic and karyoknesis. Lymphoepithelia lesions were seen. Immunohistochemistry showed that CD3, CD43, and CD 45RO in T-cells NHL were positive.CD20, CD74 and CD79a in B-cells NHL were negative. CK, EMA, ER and PR in NHL were all negative. Conclusion:NHL of breast is extremely rare, and its definite diagnosis depends on various examination methods.

Purpose To investigate the clinicopathologic features, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of ovarian juvenile granulosa cell tumor (JGCT).Methods The history records, pathologic features and immunophenotype of 8 cases of JGCT were retrospectively evaluated and their prognosis was achieved by follow-up.Results The age of patients ranged from 6~21 years old, with an average age of 15.1 years. The main clinical manifestations included an abdominal mass, ascites and isosexual pseudoprecocity. Cut surface of the tumor was typically solid with cysts formed. The histopathological changes displayed solid nests, diffuse sheet, multiple round or ovoid follicles in variable size.Macrofollicles could be seen in some cases. The follicular pattern consisted of small cystic cavities containing eosinophilic secretions. The tumor cells were round or polygonal, medium in size. The tumor cells had abundant pale or slightly eosinophilic cytoplasm, round nuclei with fine chromatin. Nuclear grooves were inconspicuous.Mitosis figures could be found. Immunohistochemical results showed that the tumor cells expressed inhibin-α,CD99,vimentin; while Melan-A,calretinin and S-100 were positive staining in part of the cases.CKpan,EMA,PLAP,Syn and CgA were negative in all the cases. Conclusions Ovarian juvenile granulosa cell tumor is a rather rare, low malignant tumor with good prognosis. Its diagnosis depends on the histologic and immunohistochemical findings and clinical features. Its differential diagnosis includes adult granulose cell tumor, hypercalcaemic type small cell carcinoma, carcinoid and dysgerminoma.
