International Eye Science 2009;9(1):5-7
AIM: To determine the effect of phacoemulsification and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation for angle closure glaucoma previously treated by laser iridotomy.METHODS: Thirty-nine patients(39 eyes )with angle closure glaucoma previously treated by laser iridotomy and cataract were divided into two groups according need for anti-glaucoma medications for controlling intraocular pressure (IOP) or not. All the patients underwent phacoemulsification and foldable IOL implantation and were followed up 3 months postoperatively.RESULTS: The best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA) of both groups improved significantly (P<0.05). The post-operative IOP of group I at 3 months was 15.72±3.02mmHg,and that of group Ⅱwas 16.30±3.81mmHg. The IOP of both group decreased significantly(P<0.05). The central anterior chamber depth of group I was deepened from 1.64±0.45mm preoperatively to 3.21±0.41mm at 3 months postoperatively, group Ⅱ was deepened from 1.92±0.52mm preoperatively to 3.18±0.39mm at 3 months postoperatively. The postoperative central anterior chamber depth of both groups increased significantly(P<0.05).Anterior chamber angle was much wider postoperatively.CONCLUSION: Phacoemulsification and IOL implantation was effective for angle closure glaucoma previously treated by laser iridotomy, and can improve visual acuity and completely relieve the pupillary block of angle closure glaucoma.

Academic Journal of Xi'an Jiaotong University 2009;21(2):129-133
Objective: To explore the biological properties of keratinocytes from differently-aged healthy human beings. Methods: Keratinocytes from fetus, teenager and middle-aged groups were separated and cultured. The population doubling time (PDT) and cell growth curve in different cells were compared, and the cell cycles were analyzed by flow cytometry. Results: Circled digit one In primary culture of keratinocytes, the adherence time in middle-aged group was longer than that in fetus and teenager groups. However, all cell morphology showed no obvious differences. In subculture of keratinocytes, with donator's age increasing, time of cell adherence prolonged, passage number decreased and differences in cell morphology were obvious. Circled digit two The average PDT of keratinocytes was shorter in fetus group than in teenager and middle-aged groups. But difference in cell growth curve between different passages was not observed. Circled digit three Keratinocytes showed G2/M period in fetus group but G0/G1 period in teenager and middle-aged groups mainly. Conclusion: As age increases, the biological properties of keratinocytes change obviously.

5.Effect and mechanism of jianpi qinghua recipe on renal functions of adriamycin-induced nephropathic rats from the angle of inhibiting renal fibrosis.
Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2014;34(6):733-738
OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of Jianpi Qinghua Recipe (JQR) on renal functions of adriamycin-induced focal segmental glomerular sclerosis (FSGS) rats from the angle of activating fibroblasts to myofibroblast (MyoF).
METHODSTotally 56 rats were randomly divided into the normal control group (n=8), the sham-operation group (n =8), and the model group (n=40). The FSGS rat model was induced by nephrectomy of left kidney plus intravenous injection of adriamycin. Successfully modeled rats were further divided into 5 groups, i.e., the model group, the JQR group, the JPR (Jianpi Recipe) group, the QHR (Qinghua Recipe) group, and the NDQ (Niaoduqing) group, 8 in each group. Corresponding drugs were administered to rats in all groups, 2 mL each time, for 56 days. The effect of JQR on serum creatinine (SCr), urea nitrogen, 24-h urinary protein excretion, a-smooth muscle actin (alpha-SMA) mRNA, collagen type III (Col III) mRNA, fibronectin (FN) mRNA, and collagen type IV (Col IV) mRNA were observed.
RESULTSJQR could significantly lower SCr, urea nitrogen, and 24-h urinary protein excretion levels (P < 0.01), and significantly decrease mRNA levels of alpha-SMA, Col III, FN, and Col IV (P < 0.01). It was advantageous over the NDQ group. Compared with JPR, the relative expression levels of Col III mRNA and FN mRNA of JQR and QHR were significantly lower (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONSJQR could improve the renal function and renal fibrosis in the adriamycin-induced nephropathic model rats. Its efficacy was superior to that of NDQ. Its mechanisms might be linked with inhibiting activation of fibroblasts.

Objective ISSR Identification of genetic diversity in Aconitum carmichaeli by ISSR marker technique. Methods Genetic diversity between Jiangyou Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata and nine wild A. carmichaeli populations was determined by ISSR technique. Results Eight primers were selected to produce highly reproducible ISSR bands. Among 98 amplified bands, 68 showed polymorphism, the percentage of polymorphic bands (PPB) reached to 69.39%. Observed number of alleles (Na), effective number of alleles (Ne), Nei′s gene diversity index (H), and Shannon information index (I) were 1.693 9, 1.371 5, 0.230 8, and 0.353 0, respectively. A DNA profile was discovered with a single primer, ISSR 855, in which each of ten tested populations had its unique patterns and was distinguished from each other. Conclusion ISSR Method is suitable for DNA fingerprinting, identification , and genetic diversity analysis of A. carmichaeli.

Objective To observe the long- term result of pathological dislocation of the hip with absence of the femoral head treated with trochanteric arthroplasty in infancy. Methods Eighteen cases with absence of the femoral head and pathological dislocation of the hip treated with trochanteric arthroplasty were followed- up for 5- 16 years, with an average of 9.25 years. The timing of the surgery was average 18.2 months(ranged from 11 to 30 months). Based on Hunka pathological classification, one case was divided as typeⅠ lesion, 2 cases as typeⅡ lesion and 15 cases as typeⅤ lesion. Results There were 8 cases in the excellent group, the morphology and function of the reconstructed femoral heads were nearly normal and the limb shortening were in an average of 0.25 cm. There were 3 cases in good group, the femoral heads were nearly ball sized and the femoral necks were absent, however, the function was good and the limb shortening averaged 1.5 cm. There were 5 cases in fair group, the plastic femoral heads were abnormal and there were acetabular dysplasia and the limb shortening averaged 2.1 cm. There were 2 cases in poor group with redislocation. Conclusion The result demonstrate that surgical treatment of the absence of the femoral head in infancy could obtain a better reconstructed hip and fair function; the shortening of the limb can also be avoided.

Chinese Journal of Geriatrics 2016;35(8):815-819
Objective To investigate the influence of the different degree of internal carotid stenosis on the white matter lesion and cognition of Binswanger disease. Methods A total of 108 elderly patients with Binswanger disease from Department of Geriatric Neurology of Qilu Hospital were recruited during December 2013 and June 2014.At the end of follow-up,6 cases showed acute eerebrovaseular disease,39 (< 10 %) had no internal carotid stenosis,31 (10 %-49 %) had mild internal carotid stenosis,32 (50%-70%)had moderate internal carotid stenosis through B ultrasound examination and MRI and MRA examination on internal carotid artery and brain. The B ultrasound examination of internal carotid artery included intima-media thickness (IMT),plaque index and the peak systolic velocity (PSV).Cognitive function of Binswagner disease was assessed by Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOCA).The white matter lesion was assessed by reformed visual Scheltens scale. The relationship among IMT,plaque index,PSV,white matter lesion, and cognitive function was investigated. The variation of cognition was observed after 1 year. Results There were statistically significant differences in IMT,PSV,plaque index, reformed Scheltens scale scores between groups of non, mild, moderate internal carotid stenosis (all P <0.05).The IMT was thicker in moderate internal carotid stenosis group than in mild internal carotid stenosis group (P<0.05).The differences in PSV,plaque index, and reformed Scheltens scale scores between mild and moderate internal carotid stenosis groups were not significant (P>0.05).There were positive correlation between PSV and reformed Scheltens scale scores (r=0.630,P =0.020).There were negative correlation between PSV and MMSE scores (r=-0.970,P=0.040).The scores of MMSE and MOCA both were declined after 1 year in three groups (0.61 ± 0.60,0.68 ± 0.81),(0.70±0.60,0.93±0.69),(1.06±0.68,1.13±0.76).The declination of MMSE and MOCA of BD patients was higher in moderate internal carotid stenosis group than in non internal carotid stenosis group (P<0.05).The differences in the declination of MMSE and MOCA between moderate and mild internal carotid stenosis groups were not significant (P> 0.05).Conclusions Internal carotid stenosis is one of risk factors for the cognitive impairment of BD,the abnormal IMT and PSV are both correlated with white matter lesion and cognitive impairment in BD.Early standardized therapy can postpone the rate of cognitive impairment in BD.
