Objective To introduce a method to aid dental treatment for autistic children; midazolam oral sedation. Methods 10 autistic children who can not be managed under normal dental procedures were administrated oral midazolam (0.5mg/kg) before treatment. Once they were adequately sedated, dental treatment was carried out in outpatient. During the whole course, their finger oxygen saturation and heart rate were inspected. Painless methods were also applied. The duration of each treatment was controlled within 30min. When the procedure ended, the autistic children were inspected until recovery from sedation and then discharged with their parents. Results 10 children aged 4～10y totally underwent 17 visits to complete all dental treatment. The average ages were (6.00?1.89)y, body weight was (28.10?9.36) kg and Houpt scales were (4.71?0.77). They were all successfully sedated and managed and no severe complications were found. Conclusion The oral midazolam sedation showed satisfactory effects on this group of autistic children while studies of large samples are needed to draw a definite conclusion.

Objective To explore the preventive and therapeutic effect of recombinant human interleukin-11(rhIL-11) on thrombocytopenia in children with non-lymphocytic leukemia after chemotherapy.Methods Sixteen children who had non-lymphocytic leukemia were divided into 2 groups by randomization,including a therapeutic group and a control group.RhIL-11[50 ?g/(kg?d)] was injected subcutaneously 24 h after chemiotherapy in the therapeutic group,and applied consecutively 10-14 days,and the control group was treated without RhIL-11.Duration of the thrombocytopenia,infusion of blood platelet,diversity of blood platelets counts and adverse effect were observed of the 2 groups.Differences between groups were examined using statistics analysis.Results There were 16 case-times(59.3%) in the therapeutic group that of could be cured without platelet transfusion,but that of control group only had 3 case-times(14.3%);the diffe-rence between 2 groups was significant(P

Emodin is one of the main active ingredient of Rheum palmatum, and has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and other effects. In recent years, it arouse concern since it has a significant anti-tumor effect with low toxicity. In this paper we mainly report the anti-cancer effects of emodin according to the studies of the past five years, including four parts such as inhibit tumor growth, inhibit migration and invasion, enhance the efficacy of combination therapy, increase chemosensitivity and attenuated side effects. Objective To measure the quality of life (QoL) of gestational trophoblastic neoplasia ( GTN ) survivors after chemotherapy by using a self-invented scale, and to explore the factors associated with QoL Methods The design of questionnaire was based on a series of internationally valid QoL scales,which was tested by epidemiology and showed good reliability and validity. A total of 100 survivors of GTN patients from Peking Union Medical College Hospital participated in this survey from December 2008 to May 2009. Results Patients with disease-free more than three months after chemotherapy enjoys a good QoL,while only 16% (16/100) of survivors feel general overall QoL, but no one feels bad Qol. As refer to sexual function, more than half of these patients (70%, 70/100) satisfied with their sexual life, while there were still 47% (47/100) and 45% (45/100) of the patients complaining of decreased sexual desire and dryness of vagina. 66% (66/100) of the GTN survivors expressed depression, and 50% (50/100) of patients complained anxiety, which were potential factors influencing QoL of GTN survivors. Relevant analysis explored the possible predictors of QoL for GTN patients, including physical function ( r = 0. 609,P ＜0. 01 ), sexual function ( r = 0. 473, P ＜ 0. 01 ), and social psychology ( r = 0. 294, P ＜ 0. 01 ).Conclusions GTN survivors have an overall good QoL after chemotherapy, the possible predictors of QoL for GTN patients include physical function, sexual function and social psychology. The sexual dysfunctions mostly present with short of sexual desire and dryness of vagina. Fear of recurrence may be a potential factor influencing QoL a long term after remission.

Background and purpose:Retinoic acid-induced gene G (RIG-G) is a tumor suppressor gene which is cloned by NB4 cell line from a acute promyelocytic leukemia cell. This study aimed to investigate the effect ofRIG-G in lung cancer cells A549 by constructing a lentiviral vector expressing RIG-G under doxycycline (DOX) regulation.Methods:RIG-G gene ampliifcation was performed by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). pLenti6/TO/V5-GIM-RIG-G lentiviral vector withGFP was built by LR recombination system. The concentration of pLenti6/TO/V5-GIM-RIG-G lentiviral vector andTet-on lentiviral vector were measured by virus titer method. After infecting A549 cells, stably transfected lines were selected via limiting dilution analysis.RIG-G gene expression was examined by immunolfuorescence staining and Western blot assay. Cellular proliferation was determined by CCK-8 assay.Results:The concentrations of pLenti6/TO/V5-GIM-RIG-G lentiviral vector andTet-on lentiviral vector were 1.0×108TU/mL and 4×109 VP/mL, respectively. RIG-G was expressed in lentivirus infected A549 cells after adding DOX, and the amount of cells withGFP could be observed by lfuorescence microscopy.After the expression of RIG-G protein, the prolif-eration activity of A594 cell was signiifcantly inhibited compared to the control group (1.168±0.107vs 2.099±0.162, P<0.05).Conclusion:The regulated expression ofRIG-G gene was established in A549 lung cancer cell line. The RIG-G protein has potential abilities to inhibit the proliferation of lung cancer cell A549.

Objective To explore early diagnostic methods for ulnar impaction syndrome on the basis of suggested criteria.Methods From December 1998 to December 2004,123 cases complained of ulnar pain.They were checked and diagnosed according to the criteria of Yu-dong Gu,and especially,the results of wrist MRL Forty-eight of them were diagnosed as ulnar impactinn syndrome.A retrospective study was done to analyze the char- acteristies of X-ray and MRI in examining ulnar impaction syndrome,clinical symptoms of the wrist,and the association between Chun & Palmer's scoring systems and imaging manifestations.Results Most of the cases of ulnar impaction syndrome had positive lunar variance (68.8%).Carpal avascular necrosis was found in about 27.1% of the cases through X-ray examination of the wrist,64.7% of whom were lunar osteonecrosis.Abnormal changes in signal intensity occurred in the MRI findings of the syndrome cases.The carpal necrosis was always located at the ulnar side of lunare or (and) at the waist and bottom of triquetrum.There was a close relationship between clinical symptoms and Chun & Palmer's grading systems and carpal imaging,MRI in particular Conclusion Early diagnosis of ulnar impaction syndrome can be made easily on the basis of deep understanding of the syndrome,clinical symptoms,and findings of imaging,especially MRI.

Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression level of deleted in liver cancer-1 (DLC-1) gene and colon cancer staging or lymph nodes metastatic ratio.Methods Total 60 resection specimens were collected from colon cancer patients between September 2009 and September 2011,and 10 resection specimens from patients with trauma,colonic diverticulitis and colitis were used as the control.The DLC-1 mRNA level was measured with real time quantitative RT-PCR in colon cancer patients and the control group.TNM system was used for colon cancer staging.The linear correlation analysis was performed to determine the relationship between DLC-1 expression level and colon cancer staging or lymph nodes metastatic ratio.Results The mRNA level of DLC-1 was significantly reduced in colon cancer tissues in comparison to that in adjacent normal tissues,while adjacent tissues showed significantly lower DLC-1 level than normal clone tissues.The expression of DLC-1 was negatively correlated with both colon cancer stage and the lymph nodes metastatic ratio (r =0.46,P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions DLC-1 expression was negatively correlated with pathological stage and lymph node metastasis ratio,indicating a critical role of DLC-1 gene in colon cancer genesis,which provide a possible new direction for colon cancer research.
