AIM: To understand whether native and oxidized low density and very low density lipoprotein (n-LDL, n-VLDL, ox-LDL, ox-VLDL) enhance the expression of macrophage inflammatory protein (MIP)1? mRNA in cultured aortic smooth muscle cells (SMCs). METHODS: Native low density and very low density lipoprotein were isolated from normal blood donors by density gradient ultracentrifugation, and were oxidatively modified by adding CuCl 2. After a 24 h-exposure of the cultured SMCs to n-LDL, n-VLDL, ox-LDL and ox-VLDL, respectively, the expression of MIP-1? mRNA was determined by in situ hybridization and RT-PCR. RESULTS: Cultured aortic SMCs expressed MIP-1? mRNA at low level. N-LDL, n-VLDL, ox-LDL and ox-VLDL enhanced the expression of MIP-1? mRNA in SMCs, ox-LDL and ox-VLDL showed stronger effect than n-LDL and n-VLDL, respectively. The effect of ox-VLDL was most striking. There was a significant difference between groups ( P

Objective: A marked deficiency of glutamine in clinical critical illness is correlated with mortality in the intensive care unit, and intestinal glutamine transport was reported to be impaired in late sepsis. Berberine was reported to protect against the intestine injury, and improve the survival rate in sepsis. We designed this study to gain further knowledge of the intestinal glutamine transport in early and late sepsis, and to find out whether beberine pretreatment has some effect on glutamine transport in sepsis. Methods: Berberine (50 mg/kg) was given intragastrically once a day for 5 days, and sepsis was induced by cecal ligation and puncture on day 5. The small intestinal samples were collected at 0, 2, 6, 12, 24 h. Intestinal brush border membrane vesicles were prepared by Mg~(2+) aggregation-differential centrifugation techniques, and brush border glutamine transport was studied by a rapid filtration technique. Results: Under control condition, Na~+-dependent glutamine transport accounted for about 90% of the total transport. The relative contributions of ATA2, ATB~(0,+), B~0AT1 were about 12, 25, 63%, respectively. Septic rats showed an early increase and a late decrease in intestinal glutamine transport. ATA2 had an earlier increase in the early stage, while B0AT1 had no significant increase. Berberine pretreated group had a relative less increase in early phase and a less decrease in late phase compared to sepsis group. Conclusion: Rat intestinal glutamine transport showed an early increase and a late decrease in sepsis, and berberine pretreatment could attenuate the impairment of glutamine transport in sepsis. It may provide some information for sepsis treatment.

Objective: To investigate the effect of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) on the variation of intestinal permeability damaged by superior mesenteric artery ischemia and reperfusion. Methods: Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells were isolated from cavity of tibias and femurs of male Sprague Dawley rat in a sterile condition, and were cultured and proliferated in plastic dishes. 10 week old female Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups:group A (sham group), group B (MSC group) and group C (saline group). In group B and group C, the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) of the animals were seperated and occluded by non-invasive vascular clamp for 45 minutes. Immediately after removing the vascular clamp,1×10~7 MSC suspended in 0.5 ml sterile L-DMEM and the same volume of normal saline was submucosally injected into the small intestine at ten different points in group B and group C, respectively. In group A, the animals were only underwent laparotomy without clamping the SMA. 3 days and 6 days after the operation, 100 mg lactulose and 50mg mannitol dissolved in 2 ml distilled water were administrated by oral gavage and urine during 6 h experiment was collected for assaying the L/M ratio before sacrificing the animals. The donor derived MSC was identified by Y chromosome in situ hybridization in ileum tissue, and the serum D-lactate level was determined. Results: The donor derived MSC could home to the ischemia/reperfusion injured intestinal mucosa, and the intestinal permeability was much lower in group B (MSC group) than that in group C (saline group)(P<0.05). Conclusion: Mesenchymal stem cells can reduce the small intestinal mucosal permeability impaired by ischemia/reperfusion, and can participate in the preservation of integrity of the damaged gut mucosal mechanical barrier.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2015;29(13):1203-1205
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the main inhaled allergens and the difference of that between city and rural suburbs in patients with allergic rhinitis in the mountain region of the northwest Hubei province and to provide epidemiological basis for prevention and treatment in the region.
METHOD:
Eight hundred and thirty-five cases who were diagnosed as allergic rhinitis with standardized allergens in Taihe Hospital of Hubei University of Medicine from Sep 2009 and Dec 2011 were studied. The data of allergens and the distribution of the patients were recorded and analyzed. χ2-test were used to analyze the data.
RESULT:
The top 7 of inhaled allergens were house dust mites (89.6%), dust mites (86.0%), tropical mites (56.9%), croton bug (18.8%), felon herb (8.1%), the cat hair (8.1%) and fine chain alternata bacteria (9.5%), Two main kinds of allergen in three different area are with no obvious difference (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSION
In northwest Hubei Province, the highest rate of inhaled allergens was dust mites, which are approximate in different age groups and different regions, especially in the city.

6.Correlation between the ability of pull-up and the composition of upper limbs among male college students in Guangxi
Chinese Journal of School Health 2020;41(1):96-99
Objective:
To explore the correlation between pull-up ability and upper body composition of male college students in a college in Guangxi, and to provide scientific guidance for college students’ exercise.
Methods:
A total of 685 male college students were randomly selected from a college in Guangxi.Pull up tests were implemented according to the national physical health test standards. Measurements of muscle mass, fat mass, fat percentage, etc. of the upper limbs were conducted by using the Ogilvy Body Composition Meter (TANITA MC-180). Data entry and analysis were performed by using SPSS 23.0.
Results:
The pass rate of male college students in the region was 21.7%; There was a statistically significant difference in the fat mass and percentage of body fat between males with different pull-up ability (F=11.30,14.18,12.91,15.22,P<0.01).After controlling age, height, weight and BMI, partial correlation analysis showed that there was a negative correlation between the pull-up ability of male college students and the fat mass and limb fat rate of both upper limbs(r=-0.22, -0.33, -0.31, -0.38, P<0.01).
Conclusion
The ability of male students in Guangxi to pull up is needed to be improved. Pull-up exercises can reduce fat mass and fat percentage in the upper limbs and improve body composition.
