1.Effects of the Shendi Jiangtang Granule on Insulin Sensitivity in Insulin Resistance Accompanied Hypertension Model Rats
Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 1993;0(01):-
Objective To observed the effect of Shendi Jiangtang Granule (Granule for reducing glucos), on insulin sensitivity in insulin resistance accompanied hypertension model rats and its mechanism. Methods Six-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into blank group, model group and Chinese medicine group. The blank group were fed with normal rat chow, and the others were fed with fructose-rich chow (FFR). The Chinese medicine group was given Shendi Jiangtang Granule (3.24 g/kg/day). Systolic blood pressure was measured weekly for 6 weeks. Then the euglycemic hyperinsulinemic glucose clamp technique was performed to estimate insulin sensitivity (M value). At the end of the glucose clamp, the soleus and extensor digitorum longus (EDL) muscles were dissected out for determination of the role of tumor necrosis factor-?(TNF-?) by an ELISA assay. Results Treatment with Shendi Jiangtang Granule significantly improved the M value in FFR rats (P

In this article, the professor LI respectively discuss the using of the ten merthods of tocolysis by eliminating disease in Synopsis of Golden Chamber from aspects of his own practical experience, original text and practical applications. The ten methods are: tonifying and harmonizing both yin and yang and keepping ying and weiqi in balance, eliminating blood stasis and dissolving abdominal mass and regulating qi and blood, warming yang and dispersing cold and warming uterus for tocolysis, moisturizing dryness by nourishing blood and clearing heat and relieving qi stagnation, inducing resuscitation and diuresis, excreting dampness and activating yang, tonifying blood and invigorating the spleen, clearing and dissipating dampness and heat, invigorating the spleen for eliminating dampness, warmming the middle warmer for tocolysis.

Objective To evaluate the patient's health care demands in communication, diagnosis, treatment and medical counseling of geriatric BPH outpatients in China. Methods A survey study was carried out in 33 medical centers from 11 different cities in China (North:Lanzhou,Beijing,Shenyang; South:Chengdu,Changsha,Wuhan,Jinan,Nanjing,Hangzhou,Shanghai,Guangzhou).2027 BPH outpatients aged (60 years participated in the survey to measure their health care demands using a questionnaire. Results There were 955 cases (47.1%) thinking communication is necessary before inspection items by a doctor,807 (39.8 %)thinking communication is necessary before determining the treatment program,389 cases(19.2%) thinking respection items by a doctor is necessary,730 cases(36.0%)the treatment program by a doctor is necessary,849 cases (41.9 %)thinking health guidance on BPH dignosis is necessary,934 cases (46.1 %)thinking health guidance on BPH treatment is necessary,The multilevel model showed the demands scores data is similarity among the north and the south. And the patients with more severe lower urinary tract symptoms have more demands on communication and medical counseling. Conclusions It is to get better therapy, considering the patient's health care demands.

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2009;25(3):299-300
Serum adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein (A-FABP) was raised in metabolic syndrome (MS)patients (n= 121) as compared with age-matched healthy subjects [n = 120, (14.7±4.8 vs 6.8 ±3. 0) μg/L,P<0.001]. It reached higher level in MS subjects with visceral obesity [(15.7±4.2 vs 12.6±5.1) μg/L, P<0.001]. Serum A-FABP concentration was positively correlated with body mass index, waist circumference, waist-tohip ratio, fasting insulin, homeostasis assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), fasting glucose, triglycerides, total cholesterol, and mean arterial blood pressure, whereas negatively correlated with HDL-C (r =-0. 448, P< 0.001).

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2010;26(9):762-764
A total of 121 patients with metabolic syndrome (MS) and 120 normal subjects were recruited for exploring the association of serum adipokines with MS. The levels of resistin and adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein (A-FABP) increased, while adiponectin decreased gradually ( all P<0.05 ) in normal control group, MS without abdominal obesity group, and MS with abdominal obesity group. In MS group, resistin was positively correlated with body mass index ( BMI), waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose, and A-FABP ( P<0.05 or P<0.01 ). Adiponectin was positively correlated with high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol and negatively correlated with BMI, waist circumference, fasting insulin, triglyceride, and homeostasis assessment of insulin resistant index.

Objective To explore the relationship between health?related quality of life and resili?ence of patients with inflammatory bowel disease( IBD) ,and provide a new entry point to improve the quality of life. Methods The general information questionnaire, the Chinese version of inflammatory bowel disease questionnaire ( IBDQ) and the Chinese version of Connor?Davidson mental resilience scale ( CD?RISC) were used to investigate 102 patients with IBD. Results The average scores of IBDQ and CD?RISC of IBD pa?tients were (157.6±31.7) and (62.5±15.0). Except for the correlation between the score of optimistic di?mension and the social function dimension, the total score and the scores of other dimensions of IBDQ were significantly correlated with the total score and the scores of dimensions of CD?RISC( r=0.200?0.490, P<0.05). Multiple regression analysis showed that tenacity, residence, moderate and severe disease severity, and disease duration with more than 10 years could significantly predict the level of health?related quality of life (β=0.319,0.268,-0.218,-0.373,-0.260, P<0.05) . Conclusion The health?related quality of life of IBD patients has a strong relationship with resilience. Health care workers can help improve health?related quality of life of the patients through fostering resilience.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2007;21(7):296-298
OBJECTIVE:
The aim of this study is to investigate the incidence and natural history of secretory otitis media(SOM) and hearing loss in newborns and infants with cleft palate, consequently, define its audiological criteria and to predict SOM early.
METHOD:
Seventy-three newborns and infants with a cleft palate (146 ears) were monthly estimated by tympanogram, static compliance, acoustic stapedius reflex and auditory brainstem response (ABR) under natural sleep within one year of age.
RESULT:
Au the infants with cleft palate had the suspected SOM in the first 6 months of life. Among children with cleft palate, the suspected SOM were most prevalent in the 3-month-age. 78. 8% infants with cleft palate had the confirmed SOM in the first 12 months of life. SOM were most prevalent in the 6-month-age. The SOM prodromal period was averagely 3. 8 months from suspected SOM to confirmed SOM. 56. 2% infants with cleft palate had a conductive hearing loss in the first 12 months of life. The conduction hearing thresholds of ABR (2-4 Hz) were averagely 48. 6 dBnHL.
CONCLUSION
The highest incidence of SOM and hearing loss in children with cleft palate appear in infants in the first 1 year of life. The process of SOM and hearing loss onset is progressive process. The infants with cleft palate should be estimated by ABR and acoustic immittance audiometry in each period of 2 or 3 months after birth.
