2.Comparison of MR DESS, MEDIC, TrueFISP sequences for knee cartilage
Chinese Journal of Medical Imaging Technology 2010;26(3):535-537
Objective To evaluate the imaging quality and diagnostic value of different MR sequences for abnormalities of knee cartilage. Methods Three sequences of MR, including double echo steady state (DESS), multi echo data imagine combination (MEDIC) and true fast imaging with steady state precession (TrueFISP) were performed in 18 healthy volunteers. Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of knee cartilage and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) to surrounding tissues were measured and compared. Results SNR of cartilage was the highest in MEDIC sequence imaging, CNR of cartilage-synovia was the highest in DESS sequence imaging among three sequences (P<0.05). Conclusion Compared with the other sequences, DESS seems to be optimal in diagnosis of abnormalities in knee cartilage.
3.Causes of failure of scleral buckling for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and effectiveness and safety of re-buckling
Chinese Journal of Ocular Fundus Diseases 2021;37(4):258-261
Objective:To analyze the reasons for the failure of scleral buckling (SB) in the treatment of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment, and observe the efficacy and safety of re-buckling.Methods:This was a retrospective non-comparative clinical research. From July 2014 to June 2020, patients with first-time SB failure who visited the Beijing Tongren Hospital were included in this study. There were 42 patients, including 30 males and 12 females, with the average age of 29.40±16.13 years, and they were all monocular. The retinal detachment range <1, 1-2 and > 2 quadrants were 9, 22 and 11 eyes, respectively. The macula was involved in 38 eyes. The average logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution (logMAR) best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 0.99±0.57. Forty eyes and 2 eyes were performed 1 and 2 SB, and all the retina were not reattached. All patients were under general anesthesia, according to the conditions during the operation, re-freeze and located the holes under indirect ophthalmoscope. And selected the new external pressure material or retained the old one in combination with the other operations to reattaced the retina. The average follow-up time was 31.93±18.97 months. The reasons for the failure of the first surgery based on the records of this surgery were analyzed. The visual acuity changes, the rate of retinal reattachment and the occurrence of complications were observed. The visual changes were compared by paired t test. Results:The top three reasons for the failure were: 16 case of the displacement of the compression spine (38.10%); 9 cases of missing the retinal holes and 9 case of improper selection of compression substances (account for 21.43%, respectively); 6 cases of insufficient height of compression spine (14.29%). All of retina were reattached (100%, 42/42). The average logMAR BCVA was 0.52±0.40. The difference of logMAR BCVA between before and after surgery was statistically significant ( t=6.106, P=0.000). There were a slight increase in intraocular pressure in 8 eyes, the average intraocular pressure was 25.00±2.61 mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa). No serious complications occurred after surgery. Conclusions:The position deviation of the compression spine, the missed hole during the operation, the improper selection of external compression material, and the insufficient height of the compression spine are the main reasons for the failure of SB. After adjusting the reasons for the failure, there is still a higher rate of retinal reattachment.

Objective To analyze the diagnostic values of plasma albumin and total bilirubin, serum uric acid and inflammatory cytokines levels in patients with bipolar disorder. Methods A total of 48 cases of bipolar disorder patients were selected as research subjects ( study group) , and 45 cases of healthy people in the same period were chosen as control group. The plasma albumin, total bilirubin and serum IL-1β, IL-4, uric acid levels were compared and analyzed between two groups. Results The serum albumin, total bilirubin levels in study group were significantly lower than those in healthy control group, with significant difference (P<0.05).The serum IL-1β, IL-4 levels in study group were significantly higher than those in healthy control group, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05).The serum uric acid levels in study group was significantly higher than that in healthy control group, with significant difference (P<0.05).Conclusion The serum albumin, total bilirubin and serum IL-1β, IL-4, uric acid levels can be used as a diagnostic reference index for bipolar disorder.

Chinese Journal of Perinatal Medicine 2003;0(06):-
Objective To study the rules of lochia rubra and draw normal pattern chart of post-partum lochia prospectively. Methods Samples were collected from parturients who had given birth in our hospital from July to December in 2002 consecutively including 191 women with cesarean section (CS) ,and 187 with spontaneous delivery. The amount of blood loss was measured and recorded everyday from 24 hours postpartumly to the day that lochia rubra was over by checking the special sanitary pads with squares on. All subjects were followed up on the 42nd day after delivery and the charts collected. Results The mean duration of lochia rubra in spontaneous delivery and CS group were (33. 9?12. 0) days and (39. 6?13. 1) days, respectively; and the 95% CI were 10-57 days and 14 -65 days, respectively (P = 0. 006). More recurrent lochia cases were seen in the CS group than that in spontaneous delivery group (103 vs 28, 66. 5% vs 19. 9%). Conclusions The duration of lochia rubra of CS group is longer than that of spontaneous delivery group. The 95% CI of the duration of lochia rubra is: 10- 57 days in spontaneous delivery group while 14- 65 days in CS group. Lochia rubra will recurred several times during puerperium, especially in CS group.

Objective To discuss the influence of hardiness conception utilization on rehabilitation of breast cancer patients. Methods 80 breast cancer patients were involved in this trial, the responsible nurses collected and analyzed the data of patients by interview, observation, and investigation question-naires, then gave patients individual directions of hardiness conception according to stage and primary and secondary of the data to arouse the hardiness characteristic of patients. The application results underwentχ2 test. Results The number of psychical problems decreased and the need of information about breast cancer increased obviously after the direction. Conclusions The utilization of hardiness conception can strengthen patients' confidence, raise their treatment compliance, and promote their rehabilitation.

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2009;29(3):383-6
The correlation between the expression of COX-2 and p53 protein in basal cell carcinoma (BCC) of eyelid and apoptosis was investigated. Specimens of BCC were collected from 40 cases (aged 28-68 y) at the Department of Pathology, Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University, and Department of Pathology, Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University during from 1999 to 2006. Five specimens of paracancerous tissues served as control group. Immunohistochemical staining was performed to detect the expression of COX-2 and p53 in the tissues. The average absorbance (A) and the average positive area rate of COX-2 and p53 protein were measured by image analysis. The positive area rate of COX-2 and p53 protein was analyzed by linear correlation analysis. It was found that COX-2 and p53 proteins were highly expressed in BCC of eyelid, and weakly expressed in paracancerous tissues. Image analysis revealed that the expression of COX-2 and p53 proteins in BCC of eyelid was significantly higher than that in paracancerous tissues (P<0.01). Spearman rank correlation analysis demonstrated a positive correlation between the expression of COX-2 and p53 (r=0.113, P=0.421). It was concluded that COX-2 can increase the expression of p53 protein, therefore suppressing apoptosis.
