International Eye Science 2014;(8):1550-1552
AIM: To observe the clinical effect of phacoemulsification and posterior chamber intraocular lens ( IOL) implantation in the treatment of unilateral high myopia combined with age-related cataract.
METHODS: A retrospective clinical study was carried out in a single ophthalmology center. All patients diagnosed of unilateral high myopia with age- related cataract were performed phacoemulsification and posterior chamber IOL implantation. The axial length of operation eye was ≥27mm, and the axial length of unoperated fellow eye was≤25mm. Visual acuity and complications were followed up for 1, 7d, 1, 3mo postoperative.
RESULTS:Thirty-three patients with average age 68. 8±9. 26 (41-87) y were enrolled in this study, 7 cases were men, 26 cases were women. The mean axial length of operation eyes was 29. 44±1. 80(27. 1-32. 71) mm and the mean axial length of unoperated fellow eyes was 23. 39±0.92 ( 21. 72 - 24. 90 ) mm. The average axial length difference of binocular eyes was 6. 06±1. 97(2. 78-9. 92) mm. The best corrected visual acuity ( BCVA ) increased from 0. 02±0. 02(light perception~0. 12) preoperatively to 0. 20±0. 20 ( 0. 02 - 0. 8 ) at 3mo postoperatively. There was statistically significant difference (t= -5. 278, P<0. 05). Among the 10 patients whose axial length difference of binocular eyes was 2. 01 - 5. 00mm, 60% of their postoperative BCVA were >0. 3. Among the 13 patients with binocular axial length difference of 5. 01-7. 00mm, 46.2% of BCVA were >0. 3,46.2% achieved 0. 05-0. 25. Another 10 patients of binocular axial length difference between 7. 01-9. 99mm, 90% of BCVA were <0. 3, of which 40% were<0. 05. No complications occurred during operative and postoperative .
CONCLUSION: Phacoemulsification and posterior chamber IOL implantation can effectively improve the postoperative visual acuity and it is safe for unilateral high myopic patients combined with age-related cataract. The recovery of visual acuity is related with binocular axial length difference.

As one of the immediate-early(IE)proteins of herpes simplex virus type 1(HSV-1),ICP22 is a multifunctional viral regulator that localizes in the nucleus of infected cells. It is required in experimental animal systems and some nonhuman cell lines, but not in Vero or HEp-2 cells.ICP22 is extensively phosphorylated by viral and cellular kinases and nucleotidylylated by casein kinase Ⅱ.It has been shown to be required for efficient expression of early(E)genes and a subset of late(L)genes.ICP22,in conjunction with the UL13 kinase, mediates the phosphorylation of RNA polymerase Ⅱ.Both ICP22 and UL13 are required for the activation of ode2,the degradation of cyclins A and B and the acquisition of a new cdc2 partner, the UL42 DNA polymerase processivity factor. The cdc2-UL42 complex mediates postranscriptional modification of topoisomerase Ⅱa in an ICP22-dependent manner to promote L gene expression. In addition,ICP22 interacts with cdk9 in a Us3 kinase dependent fashion to phosphorylate RNA polymerase Ⅱ.

Virologica Sinica 2009;24(3):153-161
The herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) VP22, is one of the most abundant HSV-1 tegument proteins with an average stoichiometry of 2 400 copies per virion and conserved among alphaherpesvirinae. Many functions are attributed to VP22, including nuclear localization, chromatin binding, microtubule binding, induction of microtubule reorganization, intercellular transport, interaction with cellular proteins, such as template activating factor I (TAF-I) and nonmuscle myosin II A (NMIIA), and viral proteins including tegument protein VP16, pUS9 and pUL46, glycoprotein E (gE) and gD. Recently, many novel functions performed by the HSV-1 VP22 protein have been shown, including promotion of protein synthesis at late times in infection, accumulation of a subset of viral mRNAs at early times in infection and possible transcriptional regulation function.

China Biotechnology 2006;0(01):-
HIV-1 integrase enzyme is a 32kDa protein encoded by HIV pol gene. It is responsible for integration of viral cDNA into host chromosomal DNA, which is indispensable for HIV replication.Since there was no functional equivalent for this enzyme in human cells, inhibition of integrase will bring little side effect to human body. Thus HIV integrase has become an attractive and rational target for therapy of AIDS after reverse transcriptase and protease. The Recent research on HIV-1integrase structure, inhibitors and new therapeutic method target at HIV integrase was reviewed.

Molecules can enter the nucleus by passive diffusion or active transport mechanisms, depending on their size. Small molecules up to size of 50-60 kDa or less than 10 nm in diameter can diffuse passively through the nuclear pore complex (NPC), while most proteins are transported by energy driven transport mechanisms. Active transport of viral proteins is mediated by nuclear localization signals (NLS), which were first identified in Simian Virus 40 large T antigen and had subsequently been identified in a large number of viral proteins. Usually they contain short stretches of lysine or arginine residues. These signals are recognized by the importin super-family (importin α and β) proteins that mediate the transport across the nuclear envelope through Ran-GTP. In contrast, only one class of the leucine-rich nuclear export signal (NES) on viral proteins is known at present. Chromosome region maintenance 1 (CRM1) protein mediates nuclear export of hundreds of viral proteins through the recognition of the leucine-rich NES.
