OBJECTIVE To investigate the distribution and tendency towards drug resistance of Candida albicans which causing clinical deep infection and to supply data to clinical treatment. METHODS The distribution and tendency towards drug resistance of C. albicans isolates from infected patients from Jan 2007 to Dec 2007 were analyzed retrospectively.RESULTS All 1698 strains of Candida were isolated from patients sputum, urine, blood, secretion, etc. From 1075 cases with C. albicans,965(89.8%) strains were isolated from sputum. The resistance rate to nyststin,fluconazole,itraconazole,5-fluorocytosine and amphotericin B were 3.9%,3.6%,2.5%,0.5% and 0,respectively. The factors related to nosocomial C. albicans infection were the use of antibiotics and condition, invasive procedure, physical fitness, age, basic state of patients, etc.CONCLUSIONS The incidence and resistance of C. albicans infection in a hospital have increasing by years. Proper use of antibiotics and immunodepressors, reduction of unnecessary operation, and early diagnosis and treatment are the keys in preventing from systemic C. albicans infection.

OBJECTIVE To understand mecA gene distribution in Staphylococcus aureus and its role in antibiotics-resistance.METHODS In this study,a total of 47 S.aureus strains were isolated from hospitalized patients.Agar disk diffusion test was conducted to determine the resistance of S.aureus to antibiotics. The DNA of these strains were extracted and purified. The mecA gene was tested by PCR and the relation between the mecA gene and antibiotics-resistance was analyzed.RESULTS Of 47 strains,33(70.2%) were MRSA.Of 33 MRSA,only 3 strains were susceptible to glycopeptides antibiotics.Only 2 strains(14.3%) of 14 MSSA were susceptible to all of the 12 antibotics. The results of PCR revealed that 32 out of 33 MRSA(97.0%) carried mecA in their genome. One strain was mecA gene negative.Among 14 MSSA,3(21.4%)strains carried mecA gene.CONCLUSIONS The isolation rate of MRSA in S.aureus is high. The resistance to antibiotics of MRSA is popular Glycopeptides antibiotics. Most of MRSA carry mecA gene, which plays an important role in antibiotics-resistance.Fewer MSSA carry mecA gene.

Soil water is one of the most important components in hydrological cycle. The stable hydrogen and oxygen isotopes in soil water have been increasingly used in the ecological, environment and hydrological research. In view of different techniques for extracting soil water, there is significant difference in theδD andδ18 O composition. This paper presents a method for analyzing hydrogen and oxygen isotopes in soil water by using elemental analyzer and isotope ratio mass spectrometry with accelerated solvent extraction for sample pretreatment. The conditions are: extraction solvent: dichloromethane, temperature: 100 ℃, pressure of 10. 3 MPa, static time:10 min. The samples were extracted three times, and with cycle values of four, four and three, respectively. Comparing with the added water, the deuterium and oxygen isotope values in the extracted soil water enrich 2. 12‰-4. 58‰ and 0. 17‰-0. 93‰, respectively. The reproducibility of replicate extractions of soil water is around ±0. 89‰ for δD and ±0. 37‰ for δ18 O.

Objective To discuss microvessel density (MVD) and expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF), androgen receptor(AR) in the prostates of men who received re-operation after TURP. Methods Fifty cases were performed re-TURP (re-TURP group) and the remaining 50 cases served as controls. 150 specimens were collected. Sections were stained for CD34 and VEGF, AR by immuno-histo-chemistry(S-P). Statistical analysis of the results was performed using t-test or Pearson Chi-Square test Results The expression of VEGF, AR and MVD were significantly higher in the re-TURP group compared to controls(P<0. 05),but in re-TURP group, difference in VEGF and AR expression as well as MVD were not found to be significantly different between the first and the second TURP(P>0.05). Conclusion Over expression of VEGF and AR as well as high MVD in prostatic tissue might play an important role in the pathological process of BPH after TURP.

Objective To investigate the relationship between asymmetry of skin folds around the hip and developmental dysplasia of the hip(DDH).Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on 308 infants who underwent DDH screening at Xuzhou Children's Hospital Affiliated to Xuzhou Medical University from January 2017 to December 2022.According to screening reasons, they were divided into observation group(simple asymmetry of skin folds around the hip,n=116),clinical abnormality group(clinical manifestations such as hip snap, limited hip abduction, unequal length of lower limbs,n=92)and control group(simple hip screening,n=100).Clinical evaluation results and Graf hip ultrasonography results were analyzed, and the detection rate of pathological DDH in each group was compared. The positive predictive value, negative predictive value, sensitivity and specificity of pathological DDH were calculated. Results Five cases(4.31%)were detected as pathological DDH in observation group.Twenty-eight cases(30.43%)were detected as pathological DDH in clinical abnormality group.Four cases(4.00%)were detected with pathological DDH in control group. There was no significant difference in detection rate of pathological DDH between observation group and control group(χ2=0.909,P=0.592).The detection rate of pathological DDH in clinical abnormal group was significantly higher than that in control group(χ2=24.109,P<0.001).The positive predictive value, negative predictive value, sensitivity and specificity of asymmetry of skin folds around the hip for pathological DDH were 4.31%,96.00%,55.56%and 46.38%,respectively.The positive predictive value, negative predictive value, sensitivity and specificity of abnormal clinical manifestations for pathological DDH were 30.43%,96.00%,87.50%and 60.00%,respectively.Conclusion clinical signs to guide imaging screening of infants.
