2.Effect of neuropeptides on periodontium and oral bone repair
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(11):1780-1786
BACKGROUND:With the development of researches on periodontal disease etiology and neuroendocrine factors, the role of neuroendocrine factors on the pathogenesis of periodontal disease and tissue restoration has become a hot spot.
OBJECTIVE:To summarize the biological effect of neuropeptides on periodontal tissues and the changes of periodontal tissue after nerve injury.
METHODS:A computer-based search of articles was performed in CNKI, Wanfang and PubMed databases using the key words ofneuropeptides, calcitonin gene related peptide, substance P, vasoactive intestinal peptide, neuropeptide Y and periodontal tissuein Chinese and English. The included articles focused on the effect of various neuropeptides on periodontal tissue.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Calcitonin gene related peptide, substance P, vasoactive intestinal peptide, and neuropeptide Y positive nerve fibers are widely distributed in periodontal support tissues. When sensory nerves are damaged, the target cel s in periodontal tissues are influenced due to changes of nerve fibers distribution and neuropeptide release. They also play a role in the reconstruction of alveolar bone, immune function of periodontal ligament and periodontal tissue. This evidence shows that neuroendocrine factors are closely linked with periodontal tissue. However, these studies concentrated in the animal models for orthodontic and fracture, the effect of the neurotransmitters such as neuropeptides on periodontal disease and the mechanisms need further exploration.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2013;(44):7687-7692
BACKGROUND:Studies have found that alprostadil can inhibit platelet aggregation, relax vascular smooth muscle, diastole peripheral blood vessels and thereby improving peripheral circulation. OBJECTIVE:To further verify whether alprostadil can promote the early recovery of renal function of renal transplantation recipients. METHODS:Total y 125 patients in the alprostadil group received intravenous infusion of 20μg alprostadil daily, and then compared with the 115 patients in the unused alprostadil group in the same time. The urine volume, serum creatinine and the creatinine clearance were compared between two groups;blood flow resistance-indexes, as wel as the incidences of delay recovery of renal function and acute rejection were detected under color doppler ultrasound. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The urine volume and creatinine clearance in the alprostadil group were significantly higher than those in the unused alprostadil group;while the serum creatinine and the blood flow resistance-indexes were lower than the unused alprostadil group. The incidence of delay recovery of renal function in the alprostadil group was 7.2%which was significantly lower than that in the unused alprostadil group (P<0.01);there was no significant difference in the incidence of acute rejection between two groups. The findings suggest that the administration of alprostadil in renal transplantation recipients during the early stage of kidney transplantation can accelerate the recovery of the renal function and can promote the early rehabilitation after renal transplantation.

Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Medicine 2001;16(1):15-18
Objective:To observe the repairment effects of vascular pediceled nervous tissue on adult rat's spinal cord injury. Method:A 5mm cord defect of the left lateral column was made at Ti-3 vertebral level, and then the defect was grafted randomly using vascdarized peripheral nerve (Group VPN),embryonic day 14 fetal spinal cord(Group FSC) or vascular pediceled peripheral nerve and fetal spinal cord(Group V + F).8 weeks after surgery, the survival, differentiation of the grafts, and the ability of repaired host spinal cord were assessed. Result: In VPN-FSC co-graft group, peripheral nerve segment was extensively vascularized and well innervated, plenty of Schwann cells survived and proliferated. In this group, anti-NF, S-100 positives fibers were significantly greater than group VPN (P<0.01). The fetal implant was intimately fused with the host CNS parenchyma, the volume, nerve fibers and neurons density of the fetal implant were significantly higher than Group FSC(P<0.01). The majority of neurons in this group were well differentiated, well-developed and synapses were scattered throughout the neuropil. SEP assessments showed that the latgncy of P1 ,N1 wave was significantly decreased in this group (P<0.01).Conclusion:The vascular pediceled peripheral nerve could prompt the development of fetal implant and support the regeneration of central injured axons to certain degrees.

Objective To explore clinical features of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after allogeneic non-myeloablative stem cell transplantation (NST) for haematologic diseases. Methods Eighteen patients were divided into three groups. Group A: Six severe aplastic anemia (SAA) adult patients underwent unrelated umbilical cord blood transplantation (UCBT). Group B: Combined transplantation of G-CSF primed allogeneic bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cells (PBSCs) was performed for 5 SAA patients. Group C: Seven malignant haematologic patients underwent transplantation of bone marrow cells for 3 patients or PBSCs for 4 patients. The protocol consisted of nonmyeloablative conditioning regimens based on anti-themocyte globulin (ATG) or anti-T-lymphocyte globulin (ALG). GVHD prophylaxis consisted of cyclosprine (CSA) and methylprednisolone (MP) for groups A and B, and methotrexate and CSA for group C. Mixed chimerism (MC) patients in group C were subjected to donor lymphocyte infusion (DLI).Results Four patients in group A achieved and sustained MC status, among them, one patient died of fungal septemia and one patient left hospital voluntarily. Three patients in group B achieved short period MC with donor chimerism more than 94 % at early stage post transplantation and converted into full donor chimerism (FDC) with long-term disease-free survival (DFS) and one patient developed chronic GVHD (cGVHD) 8 month post- trasplantation . Another two patients receiving donor stem cell infusion (DSI), one died of secondary mediastina lymphoma after 6 months and one patient recovered haematopoiesis. All patients achieved MC with haematologic partial remission (PR), and did not complicated acute GVHD (aGVHD) prior to DLI. Two cases died of severe infection and lost follow-up respectively. Another 5 patients gradually converted into FDC and achieved haematologic complete remission after 4, 3, 7, 5 and 4 DLIs, but they developed cGVHD (n=4), aGVHD (n=2) and myelosurppression (n=2).Conclusion The treatment of NST for SAA patients achieved better clinical effect with lower incidence of GVHD, and characterized by lower incidence of aGVHD and early mortality and higher incidence of cGVHD and infection for malignant haematologic diseases.

Chinese Journal of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases 1987;0(04):-
The results of detection of circulating antigen(CAg) in cerebrospinal fluids(CSF) of 231 cerebral cysticercosis patients with McAb(4F8)-based ELISA were reported and compared with the case histories , clinical manifestations and CT scans. No relationship was found between CAg detected in CSF of these cases and history of taeniasis. However, the positive rate of CAg in cerebral cysticercosis patients with subcutaneous nodules was found significantly higher than those in cases with simple cerebral cysticercosis and in cases with subcutaneous nodules disappeared after anti-Cysticercus therapy before CSF collection. The results of CAg detection in CSF were related with the CT findings as well as the stage of the disease. It is thus indicated that MeAb(4F8)-based ELISA might be useful not only for diagnosis of neurocysticercosis, but also for the evaluation of efficacy of anti-Cysticercus therapy.
