Chinese Journal of Ultrasonography 1996;5(1):36-38
By use of Bayes probability analysis,a computer aided diagnosis(CAD)system has been established for the diagnosis of ovarian tumor by ultrasound. The capabilities of Bayes method were (1)improving the diagnostic accuracy:(2)facilitating the diagnosis. The results obtained by this method in easily misdiagnosed cases correlated with the pathological findings. It is a good complement for the diagnosis of ovarian tumors by ultrasound and thus raises the ultrsonud diagnostic level for clinical application.

AIM: To study the effect of curcumin on the extracellular matrix of aorta in cardiac overloaded rats. METHODS: Cardiac overloaded model was made by partial click of the abdominal aorta in Sprague Dawley rats. Curcmin, 100 mg?kg -1 ?d -1 for 3 weeks, was given by po 1 week after the click operation. The ratio of aorta wet weight to body weight was calculated; the collagen content was measured with Woessner's method and the activity of matrix metallproteinase 2 was analyzed with zymography. RESULTS: In cardiac overloaded rats, the wet weight and collagen content of aorta was increased, and the activity of matrix metallproteinse 2 of aorta was decreased. Compared with the cardiac overloaded rats without any drugs, the increased weight and collagen content of aorta was reversed, but the activity of matrix metallproteinse 2 of aorta was seldom changed in curcumin treated rats. CONCLUSION: Curcumin can reverse the hypertrophy of aorta of cardiac overloaded rats mainly by means of inhibiting the synthesis of collagen.

Objective To analyze if the increasing the dose and time of vancomycin will increase the renal toxicity risk in patients with resistance to toluene penicillin Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA) and blood drug concentration significance in the course of treatment. Methods We enrolled 105 patients, mean age (58.0 ±5.8) years;59 males (61.9%) treated in our hospital with MRSA.Patients’ age, sex, serum creatinine (SCr), creatinine clearance rate (CrCl), serum vancomycin concentrations, duration of treatment, acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II score were analysed. The definition of renal toxicity is that SCr is higher than the baseline 0.5 mg/dL, or according to the measurement results of a series SCr:SCr elevation≥50%.The relevant data in patients with renal toxicity and non toxicity were compared. Results 45 (42.9%) had renal toxicity.Vancomycin concentration was significantly higher in renal toxicity patients than non toxicity [(20.9 ±9.8)μg/mL vs. (14.2 ±6.6)μg/mL, P<0.001), serum drug concentration≥15μg/mL (67.8% vs 40.3%; P =0.01) and vancomycin treatment duration (14 days) ( 46.0% vs 21.4%; P =0.011 ) has obvious different scale between two groups. Regression analysis showed that: vancomycin serum concentration≥15μg/mL and prolonged treatment were independent predictors of renal toxicity ( adjusted likelihood ratio =2.83; 95%CI, 1.03 ~7.72, P=0.045).Conclusion The increase of vancomycin dosage and treatment time was the risk of nephrotoxicity.

Objective To investigate the clinical effects of tendon sheath laceration by syringe needle under the guidance of ultrasonography in the treatment of stenosing tenosynovitis. Methods A retrospective comparison was made on the curative efficacy in 78 patients with stenosing tenosynovitis of the hand. The patients were divided into two groups: the treatment group (n=39) was given tendon sheath laceration by 20-gauge syringe needle under the guidance of 10 MHz ultrasonography, while the control group ( n= 39) received the conventional puncture and laceration without the ultrasound guidance. Results At the fourth postoperative week, complete pain relief was achieved in 32 patients in the treatment group (82.1%) and in 20 patients in the control group (51.3%), respectively, with a significant difference ( ? 2 =8.34, P =0.004). The visual analogue score (VAS) was 8.9~3.5 (mean, 6.7?2.0) lower than before operation in the treatment group and 8.5~0.5 (mean, 5.2?2.9) in the control group. The pain relief in the treatment group is significantly superior to that in the control group ( t =2.659, P =0.010). Conclusions Ultrasound-guided laceration of the stenotic tendon sheath by syringe needle is a simple, minimally invasive and effective option for the management of stenosing tenosynovitis of the hand.

AIM:To determine whether apoptosis is involved in the development of vascular remodeling in renovascular hypertension rats and whether the inhibitory effect of tetrandrine on proliferation is mediated by apoptosis.METHODS:Apoptosis was detected in histologic sections of aorta and tail arteries with in situ end-labeling.The apoptosis ratio in cultured cells was measured by [3H]-TdR incorporation and flow cytometer analysis method.RESULTS:Compared with the sham group, the apoptosis rate of renal hypertension rat(RHR)increased.Tetrandrine(Tet)directly induced apoptosis in cultured AVSMCs(from RHR)and increased apoptosis induced by TGF?,TGF?1 and deficient FCS.CONCLUSION:Tet induces and sensitizes vascular smooth muscle cells of RHR to apoptosis, which at least partly related to the regression of vascular remodeling.

To analyse the effect of tetrandrine(Tet) on proliferation of aortic vascular smooth muscle cells ( AVSMC), AVSMC were isolated and cultured from sham-operated rats(Sham), renovascular hypertensive rats〔RHR, 18 weeks after two kidney one clip(2K1C) operation〕, and Tet (50 mg*kg-1*d-1 po for 9 weeks from week 9 after 2K1C operation)treated RHR. The proliferation of AVSMC was detected by MTT method, and the DNA synthesis was evaluated by [3H]-thymidine incorporation. The results showed that ①The ultrastructure of aorta suggested that AVSMC in RHR had transferred from contractile phenotype to synthetic phenotype; ②Compared to Sham, AVSMC from RHR showed a higher proliferative property with a higher cell number and an increased growth rate stimulated by norepinephrine(NE) or angiotensinⅡ(AngⅡ); ③Compared to untreated RHR, AVSMC from Tet treated RHR showed a reduced reactivity to NE- or AngⅡ-stimulated proliferation and growth rate; ④Tet(0.1-10 μmol*L-1) treated in vitro induced a concentration-dependent depression in [3H] thymidine-incorporation stimulated by NE or AngⅡ in AVSMC from either RHR or Sham. This study provides an evidence of increased reactivity to NE or AngⅡ in AVSMC of RHR. Tet inhibits the proliferation and DNA synthesis in AVSMC, depresses the susceptibility of AVSMC to AngⅡ and NE, both contribute to the regression effect on hypertensive vascular remodeling.

The bovine basilar artery vascular smooth muscle cells(BAVSMC S) were isolated and cultured. The effects of chitosan and enalaprilat on the proliferation of BAVSMC S induced by angiotensin Ⅱ(AngⅡ) were evaluated with MTT method, the DNA synthesis in BAVSMC S was measured by thymidine incorporation and total protein of BAVSMC S was detected by coomassie brilliant blue method. The results showed that chitosan can inhibit the proliferation of BAVSMC S induced by AngⅡ in a time and concentration dependent manner, and depress thymidine incorporation of BAVSMC S induced by AngⅡ in a concentration dependent manner chitosan can reduce the content of protein in BAVSMC S induced by AngⅡ.These findings suggested that chitosan is capable of producing an inhibitory effect on proliferation of bovine basilar artery vascular smooth muscle cells induced by AngⅡ .

Objective To observe the effect of Wenxiao Granule on the expression of MCP-1 and TNF-? in experimental atherosclerosis rabbit, and explore its mechanism in treating atherosclerosis. Methods Thirty-six New Zealand rabbits were randomized to four groups: control group, Wenxiao granule group, Simvastatin group. They were fed a high-fat diet except normal group until the mature atherosclerotic plaques formed. The rabbits in two drug-treated groups were treated with respective drug for 8 weeks. All rabbits were sacrificed. The morphology and composition of atherosclerotic plaques in aortic roots were examined. The expression of MCP-1 and TNF-? were determined by immunohistochemical staining. Results The expression of MCP-1 and TNF-? in plaque of Wenxiao Granule group and simvastatin group were significantly dereased compared with the model group (P 0.05). Conclusion Wenxiao Granule can inhibit the expression of MCP-1 and TNF-?, which may stabilize plaque of atherosclerosis.
