Most of the transfusion adult outpatients are old people with chronic disease, and theirsmall blood vessels become less elastic with age. They need long course and repeated localised puncture site. On the base of that fact, the author describes the 5.5gauge scalp acupuncture and 7 gauge scalp acupuncture about their use on the patients. The 5.5 gauge scalp acupuncture is smaller and shorter, so it has the advantage of high success ratio and it is easier to be fixed. Additionally, the transfusion speed is easy to be controlled, which reduces the ratios of transfusion reaction and adverse drug reactions. The pinhole is small and can be healed faster. The congestion around the puncture location is less than that of the 7 scalp acupuncture. It can alleviate the pain for patients and increase satisfaction. To sum up, the 5.5 gauge scalp acupuncture should be used widely as we allocate“people oriented”and“All for the patients”.

Brain ischemic tolerance refers to endogenous brain protective mechanism during severe ischemic injury of the body. Ischemia preconditioning is an effective mean to induce brain ischemic tolerance. However, the invasive and ethical limitation made the application of ischemic preconditioning difficult in the clinical practice. Studies found that extracellular signal regulated kinase (ERK) signaling pathway played an important role in the formation of brain ischemic tolerance. Meanwhile, brain ischemic tolerance induced by traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) had its unique advantages. This article reviewed effects of ERK signaling pathway in the inducing of brain ischemic tolerance and TCM intervention in recent years.

Objective To study the expression and significance of human tissue kallikrein gene 6(KLK6) in cervical cancer tissues.Methods With glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH)as reference,the expression of KLK6 in 80 cases of cervical cancer tissues (40 cases with metastasis and 40cases without metastasis) and 40 cases of normal cervical tissues was determined by Taqman probe real-time quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction,and analyzed the relationship between cervical cancer occurring and KLK6 expression with clinical data and pathological dats.Results The expression of KLK6 in normal cervical tissues[(1.06 ± 0.40) × 10-3] was lower than that in cervical cancer tissues without and with metastasis[(4.41 ± 1.70) × 10-3,(32.22 ± 6.70) × 10-3],and there was significant difference (P＜0.01).The expression of KLK6 in Ⅰ a,Ⅰ b,Ⅱ a stage of cervical cancer tissues with metastasis was (30.42 ± 5.00) × 10-3,(31.64 ± 1.30) × 10-3,(33.02 ± 8.00) × 10-3,and there was no significant difference among them (P ＞ 0.05).The expression of KLK6 in Ⅰ a,Ⅰ b,Ⅱ a stage of cervical cancer tissues without metastasis was (4.12 ± 1.10) × 10-3,(4.35 ± 1.30) × 10-3,(4.82 ± 1.90) × 10-3,and there was no significant difference among them (P＞0.05).There was significant difference in the expreesion of KLK6 in Ⅰ a,Ⅰ b,Ⅱ a stage between cervical cancer tissues with metastasis and cervical cancer tissues without metastasis (P ＜0.01).Conclusion KLK6 can stimulate the cervical cancer cell proliferation,and participate in the progresses of cervical cancer metastasis.

Objective To enhance the anti-tumor efficiency of artemisinin and to explore the anti-tumor and sensitivity-enhancing mechanism of Artemisinin Sensitizing Compound(ASC).Methods The growth-inhibition rate of HepG2 cells was determined by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium(MTT) method.Tumor-bearing nude mice were given inoculation of HepG2 cells subcutaneously.After treatment for 15 days,the tumor-inhibition rate was calculated according to the tumor mass weight.Results The growth-inhibition rate of tumor cells in ASC group(artesunate combined with diethyl maleate,mercaptosuccinic acid and aminotriazole),was increased 43.84%,and the tumor-inhibition rate was three times as much as that in artesunate alone group with the same titer.The amount of antioxidant agents and the activity of antioxidant enzymes were higher in the control group than those in the artesunate alone group and ASC group,while were lower in ASC group than those in the artesunate alone group.Conclusion ASC has anti-tumor and sensitivity-enhancing effect through decreasing the amount of anti-oxidant agents and inhibiting activities of anti-oxidant enzymes.

This study was aimed to investigate the theoretical basis of Jian-Shen Li-Shui (JSLS) formula. Knowledge
of acute phase of cerebral hemorrhage in ancient Chinese medicine literature, modern pathophysiology theories, experimental researches and clinical results were studied, in order to discuss theoretical basis of JSLS formula. The results showed that JSLS formula embodied basic theories of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and experiences of physicians from different generations. It also reflected modern pharmacology research results. It was supported by animal experiments and clinical research results. It was concluded that JSLS formula was in accordance with essence of TCM syndrome differentiation. There were enough evidences for the formation of the formula. It was worthy of further study.

Objective To develop improved enzymatic creatinine(Cr)assay reagents (self-R&D),and to investigate their appli-cation on serum detection by comparing with imported commercial Cr reagents(enzymatic Cr reagents from Toyobo)Methods En-zymatic method was used to evaluate the effect of every component and different concentrations of reagents on Cr assay by detecting the alteration of absorbance of Cr before or after the reaction.Meanwhile,the blank absorbance and analysis sensitivity of self-R&D and imported reagents,the technical indicators of precision,linearity,as well as method comparison of self-R&D reagents,were de-tected on the same automatic biochemical analyzer.Results The blank absorbance of self-R&D reagents was 0.009,and the detec-tion sensitivity was 0.13,better than that of imported Cr reagents.The coefficient of variation (CV)of high and low values of ser-um of self-R&D reagents were 1.5%,and 1.1%,respectively.The linear range was 0-2 850 μmol/L and the method comparison result was Y =0.98X +1.15 (r =0.999).The expected bias was less than the allowable error region.Using relative deviation≥10% as an index to evaluate the existence of significant interference,it shows that 35 mmol/L of creatine,3.42 mmol/L of biliru-bin,0.03 g/L of vitamin C,5 g/L of hemoglobin and 1450 FTU chyle in both low and high concentration serum samples did not interfere with the test result.Conclusion The quality of self-R&D reagents was good,and there was a good relativity between self-R&D reagents and imported Cr reagents with excellent quality.This indicates the self-R&D reagents could satisfy the application requirements of the clinics.

Objective To evaluate the results of breast conservation surgery combined with radiotherapy for early stage breast cancer.Methods The cinical data of 76 breast cancer patients who underwent breast(conservation) operation plus radiotherapy at Changzheng Hospital in the recent 6 years were retrospectively(analyzed).Results The 3-,and 5-year survival rate was 96.05% and 94.8%,respectively,the 3-,and 5-year local recurrence rate was 5.3% and 6.6% respectively,and the 3-,and 5-year breast conservation rate was 96.05% and 93.3%,respectively.Only one case had chest wall recurrence and there was no mortality.The case with recurrence was a 25-year old unmarried woman,who had an intense desire for breast conservation.After tumor recurrence,mastectomy was performed again and chemotherapy was(administered).The patient is presently alive and in good health.Postoperative cosmetic physical results were(satisfactory) in 80.5% of cases.Conclusions Breast conservation surgery plus radiotherapy can get(satisfactory) results.The important aspects for success of breast conservation treatment are standardization of(resection) and postoperative radiotherapy and integrated systemic therapy.

The value of color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI) and intravenous contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) for assessing the transplanted liver and early diagnosing complications by examining hemodynamic changes was discussed. Seventy-five patients with orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) underwent CDFI. The following parameters were measured: peak systolic velocity (PS), resistance index (RI) and Doppler perfusion index (DPI) of the hepatic artery (HA), time average velocity (TAV) of portal vein (PV) and velocity of hepatic vein (HV) in different stages postoperation. And 11 patients of them received CEUS. Thirty healthy subjects were enrolled as controls. The results showed that: (1) In 23 patients without obvious complications, TAV of PV within 15 days post-operation was significantly higher than in controls (P<0.05), PS and DPI of HA within 7 days postoperation were lower, but RI was higher than in controls (P<0.05); (2) When the hepatic artery thrombosis (HAT) occurred, PS and DPI of HA were obviously decreased, but TAV of PV significantly increased like a high saw-tooth wave; (3) While rejection occurred, both TAV of PV and PS of HA were decreased with the increase in RI of HA, and the triphasic wave of HV disappeared and displayed as saw-tooth wave; (4) The incidence of biliary complications in liver transplantation was increased when DPI was reduced; (5) Seven cases of hepatic carcinoma relapse after OLT demonstrated hyperecho in the arterial phase and hypoecho in the portal and later phase on CEUS; (6) In 2 cases of HA thrombus, there was no visualized enhancement in arterial phase of CEUS, but enhancement during the portal vein and parenchymal phase. It was concluded that the hemodynamic changes of PV, HA and HV in the transplanted liver are valuable for assessing the transplanted liver and early diagnosing complications on CDFI and CEUS.

AIM: To investigate whether the circadian mRNA expression of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) components (ATNG、AT_1R、AT_2R) in myocardium is correlated with left ventricular hypertrophy in both spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and renal hypertensive rats (RHR). METHODS: The model of RHR was established using 2K1C (two-kidney one clip). SHR, RHR, and normotensive control rats (CON) were housed in a separate environment-controlled room for two weeks, in which a strict 12-hour light/12-hour dark cycle regimen was enforced (lights on at 900, zeitgeber time [ZT0]). Rats were killed every 4 hours from 900 am (ZT0) to 500 pm (ZT20) on three separate days. We examined the circadian mRNA expression of ATNG、AT_1R、AT_2R in the hearts of SHR, RHR and CON rats by RT-PCR. RESULTS: Heart weight to body weight ratios and left ventricle weight to heart weight ratios indicated a significant increase in SHR and RHR compared with normotensive rats. The cardiac mRNA expression of the RAS components showed circadian oscillations in SHR, RHR and CON rats. The amplitudes of these circadian fluctuations were greater in the SHR and RHR than in the CON rats. The mRNA levels of the RAS components were increased in the SHR and RHR compared with the CON rats at many time points. CONCLUSION: The data indicate that overexpression and enhanced amplitudes of circadian fluctuations of RAS components in SHR and RHR may play a role in the development of left ventricular hypertrophy.
