Viniferin is the generic term of oligomers of resveratrol, which acts as phytoalexin in Leguminosae, Polygonaceae, Vitaceae, Ranunculaceae, Dipterocarpaceae and other plants. Viniferin plays important physiological roles in protecting against UV damage and resisting bacterial fungal and viral infection in plants. Nevertheless, these oligomers have shown various pharmacological activities including antioxidative activities, anti-pathogenic, anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor activities. This paper review the recent advances in research of viniferins microbes to show their key pharmaceutical activities for pharmaceutic references.

Objective To compare the therapeutic effect of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery and traditional thoracotomy in fixation of traumatic multiple rib fractures. Methods Clinical data of 56 patients with traumatic multiple rib fractures treated surgically between July 2005 and September 2012 were analyzed retrospectively.Based on the treatments, the patients were assigned to video-assisted thoracoscopy group (thoracoscopy group,n =27) and traditional thoracotomy group (thoracotomy group,n =29).A comparison was done on the variables including operation time, intraoperative blood loss, ventilator support rate, duration of mechanical ventilation, length of ICU stay, incidence of lung infections, visual analogue scale (VAS) at day 3 postinjury and mortality between the two groups. Results Operation time [(128.9 ± 21.1) min vs (140.7 ± 24.2) min],ventilator support rate (70% vs 76%) and mortality (4% vs 7%) in thoracoscopy group revealed no statistical differences compared with thoracotomy group (P > 0.05),but intraoperative blood loss [(321.1 ± 30.1)ml vs (438.1 ± 43.2)ml],duration of mechanical ventilation [(4.3 ± 2.1) d vs (7.2 ± 1.6) d],length of ICU stay [(5.9 ± 21.1) d vs (8.5 ± 1.7) d],incidence of lung infection (33% vs 90%),and VAS [(7.0 ± 1.4) points vs (8.3 ± 0.9) points] were significantly reduced in thoracoscopy group than in thoracotomy group (all P < 0.01).Conclusion Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery is characterized by fewer intraoperative bleeding, shorter duration of mechanical ventilation and ICU stay, and lower lung infection rate during treatment of traumatic multiple rib fractures compared to traditional thoracotomy.

Objective To determine the epidemic characteristics of forty-two coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cluster outbreaks in Hangzhou city and provide scientific evidence for further prevention and control measures. Methods Data of the COVID-19 cluster outbreaks in Hangzhou were obtained from the National Public Health Emergency Management Information System. Epidemic characteristics were summarized by reviewing the epidemiological investigation reports. Results A total of forty-two COVID-19 cluster outbreaks were documented in Hangzhou in 2020, including 130 confirmed cases and 7 cases with asymptomatic infection. The majority occurred from January to February, 2020. Moreover, 92.86% (39/42) of the cluster outbreaks were familial transmission. The proportion of the cluster outbreaks involving 2 cases accounted for 54.7% (23/42). In the secondary cases, family members accounted for 84.15% (69/82). Conclusion The COVID-19 cluster outbreaks in Hangzhou mainly occur in families, and the majority of the secondary cases is family members.

【Objective】 To investigate the current status of incision sites to obtain intact specimens in laparoscopic nephrectomy by urologists in China, so as to provide reference for the standardized procedure. 【Methods】 During Jun.20, 2021 and Jul.4, 2021, more than 20 000 urologists in a WeChat group were surveyed with a questionnaire. The general data, incision sites and related complications were statistically analyzed. 【Results】 A total of 601 valid questionnaires were collected, covering urologists from 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. Surgical approaches: 68 urologists chose trans-abdominal approach, 432 chose posterior abdominal space approach, 101 chose both surgical approaches. Incision sites: 97 urologists chose lumbar transverse incision, 202 chose dorsal oblique incision of the waist, 119 chose ventral oblique incision, 93 chose the paramedian incision, 112 chose the lower abdominal oblique incision (Gibson), 11 chose the transverse lower abdominal incision (Pfannenstiel), 7 chose the median incision of the lower abdomen, 2 chose the median incision in the upper abdomen, 15 chose axillary midline direct incision; 399 chose to cut off the muscles, and 202 chose not to. Complications: 232 urologists reported pain after 2 weeks, 369 reported no pain; 325 reported numbness after 2 weeks, 276 reported no numbness; 66 reported incisional hernia, 535 reported no hernia. 【Conclusions】 Chinese urologists tend to choose retroperitoneoscopic nephrectomy and waist incision to obtain intact specimens. Transperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy has a variety of incisions for intact specimens. There is no standardized incision sites to obtain intact specimens.
