Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(03):-
The preventive and therapeutic effects of hemodilution (HD) on pulmonary edema induced by ammonium chloride in Wistar rats were studied in this paper. The results showed that: The hemoglobin contents were decreased from 130.5?1.2g/L, 134.1?4.5g/L to 84.3?4.0g/L, 88.6?4.5g/L, respectively in the two HD group. The survival rates were 13.3% (2/15) in the edema group, 42.10%(8/19) in the HD preventive group (P

The incidence of thyroid dysfunction has increased year by year; the degree of public concern about thyroid disease also has been growing; the accuracy and comparability of results given by thyroid hormone assays from clinical laboratories face new challenges .This paper reviewed the clinical significance and measurements of thyroid hormones , also summarized the outcome of IFCC Working Group on Standardization of Thyroid Function Tests .It is expected to bring manufacturers′and clinical laboratories′attention to the importance of standardization/harmonization; and they could collaborate with each other .

Objective To probe the application of umbilical vein catheterization among the verylow-birth-weight or the low-birth-weight children. Methods In this retrospective study, the clinical condition of the very-low-birth-weight or the low-birth-weight infants in neonatal intensive care unit who had umbilical vein catheterization from June 2011 to January 2013 was concluded. Results Sixty-three cases were successfully catheterized,of which 41 cases were catheterized in inferior vena cava(65.1%).The retention time was 4 to 21 days, with an average of 12.9 days.Eleven cases suffered unplanned extubation of the indwelling catheters, and eight of them were located in the umbilical vein. There were statistically significant differences of unplanned extubation rates among different location of the catheters (x2 =8.38,P < 0.01).All cases were intubated within 36 hours after birth, and the intubation time was not positively correlated to the success rate of catheterization in the inferior vena cava (x2 =0.223,P > 0.1).Suspected catheter-related infections occurred in 5 cases and the infection rate was 6.2/1000 per intravascular catheter day. After extubation, bacterial cultures of the tips of the catheters and blood were arranged. The results suggest that the bacterial culture of the catheter tip was positive in only 1 case(1.6%),and yeast-like fungus was positive in 1 case (1.6%),while the retention time and incidence of catheter-related infection had no significant corelation(x2 =0.075,P > 0.95).Conclusion Umbilical vein catheterization could be used at the early stage in preterm (very) low-birth-weight infants.

AIM:Left coronary artery ligation(LAD)was used to induce heart failure.Losartan was microinjected into paraventricular nucleus(PVN),heart rate(HR),blood pressure(BP)and renal sympathetic nerve activity(RSNA)were measured. The mechanism of PVN in chronic heart failure was investigated.METHODS:Sprague-Dawley male rats were selected for LAD ligation for heart failure models, the variation of cardiac function was detected by echocardiography.Losartan was microinjected into PVN,the responses of HR,BP and RSNA were analyzed.RESULTS:Compared with sham group, the level of LV was increased(P

Chinese Medical Equipment Journal 2004;0(08):-
Recognition of acupuncture points is a key step for acupuncture therapy and other corresponding physical treatment.Based on the electrical impedance property of acupuncture points,a bio-impedance detection circuit is designed to measure acupuncture points. The system consists of impedance detection circuit,A/D convertor, impedance computation and LED display.Experiment results suggests that the proposed system can be used for acupuncture points detection.

Objective To explore the changes of colon motility of the rats in multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) induced bacterial peritonitis and the effects of IL-6, TNF-? and induce nitricoxide synthase (iNOS) on colon motility. Methods Wistar rats were divided into two groups, which were the control group and the MODS group. The number of stool, the amplitude changes of circular smooth muscle strip, the length of smooth muscle cell, and the changes of serum NO in two groups were observed. The expressions of IL-6, TNF-? and iNOS protein and IL-6 mRNA, TNF-? mRNA and iNOS mRNA in distal colon were investigated by using immunohistochemical methods and RT-PCR. Results The numbers of stool and the amplitude in the MODS group were lower than those of the control group (P

Objective: To investigate the effects of psycholog ical factors on treatment and outcome of patients with high altitude pulmonary e dema(HAPE). Methods: In the present study, one hundred and fifty -two patients with HAPE were tested by hospital anxiety and depression scale. Results: The results showed that there were 61 patients (40.13%) with anxiety and 29 patients (19.08%) with depression. The important factors on mental state of patients were preventive education, the first time suffering HA PE, characters of patients, degree of the disease and the medical fee, the less w ere age, sex, occupation and education of patients. Duration of rales of lung an d course of illness were significantly prolonged in HAPE patients with mental di sorders compared to the patients without mental disorder. Conclusion:The study suggests that anxiety and depression might aggravate the state of HAPE.

Objective To explore the optimum concentration of bioactive glass that promotes early enamel caries remineralization. Methods Fresh bovine incisors were selected and used for enamel specimen preparation. All specimens were randomly divided into two groups:micro hardness group and fluorescence group. Both groups were further divided into 3%, 6%and 9%groups. These specimens were placed in containers with demineralization liquid at 37℃for 72 hours. Then they were treat with 3%, 6%and 9%bioactive glass solution respectively twice a day for 5 minutes each. Samples in all three groups were dipped circularly into an artificial demineralization solution and an artificial saliva solution for 15 days. The mi?crohardness of enamel surface was measured before and after demineralization and remineralization. The different value of microhardness before and after remineralization was calculated. The thickness of fluorescence beneath the surface of early enamel caries was observed to evaluate the extend of remineralization effect. Results The difference in value of micro hard?ness in 6%group was the highest while that in 3%group was the lowest. The differences were significant. The difference in value of demineralization depth in 6%group was greater than those in 3%and 9%groups (P<0.05). There was no statistical?ly significance between those in 3%group and 9%group. Conclution The optimum concentration of bioactive glass solu?tion that promotes the remineralization of early enamel caries is 6%, which is ideal for remineralization of early enamel caries.
