The preventive and therapeutic effects of hemodilution (HD) on pulmonary edema induced by ammonium chloride in Wistar rats were studied in this paper. Objective To probe the application of umbilical vein catheterization among the verylow-birth-weight or the low-birth-weight children.Methods In this retrospective study,the clinical condition of the very-low-birth-weight or the low-birth-weight infants in neonatal intensive care unit who had umbilical vein catheterization from June 2011 to January 2013 was concluded.Results Sixty-three cases were successfully catheterized,of which 41 cases were catheterized in inferior vena cava(65.1％).The retention time was 4 to 21 days,with an average of 12.9 days.Eleven cases suffered unplanned extubation of the indwelling catheters,and eight of them were located in the umbilical vein.There were statistically significant differences of unplanned extubation rates among different location of the catheters (x2 =8.38,P ＜ 0.01).All cases were intubated within 36 hours after birth,and the intubation time was not positively correlated to the success rate of catheterization in the inferior vena cava (x2 =0.223,P ＞ 0.1).Suspected catheter-related infections occurred in 5 cases and the infection rate was 6.2/1000 per intravascular catheter day.After extubation,bacterial cultures of the tips of the catheters and blood were arranged.The results suggest that the bacterial culture of the catheter tip was positive in only 1 case(1.6％),and yeast-like fungus was positive in 1 case (1.6％),while the retention time and incidence of catheter-related infection had no significant corelation(x2 =0.075,P ＞ 0.95).Conclusion Umbilical vein catheterization could be used at the early stage in preterm (very) low-birth-weight infants.

Objective To evaluate the application value of real-time three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (RT-3DTEE) for the risk assessment of unusual atrial septal defect (ASD) in clinic therapy.Methods Accurate assessment before operation was conducted in 57 cases of patients with unusual ASD by two-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography (2DTTE),two-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (2DTEE) and RT-3DTEE.The ultrasound manifestations were observed.And the guidance in clinic therapy were compared.Results The shape and number can be displayed clearly by 2D-TTE and 2D-TEE in 46 of 57 eases.Another 11 cases were diagnosed as irregular or two holes possibly.RT-3DTEE can help to observe the morphology and quantity of ASD visually and comprehensively in all cases.There was no statistical difference among 2DTTE,2DTEE and RT-3DTEE for the measurement of right atrium end-systolic transverse diameter (RATD),left atrium end-systolic transverse diameter (LATD),right ventricular end-diastolic diameter (RVDD) and left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVDD;all P＞0.05).The statistic difference for the diameter of atrial septal defect (ASDD) was found between 2D-TEE and 2D-TTE (P＜0.05) and RT-3DTEE and 2D-TTE (P＜0.05).There was no statistical difference among 2D-TEE,2DTTE and RT-3DTEE for the measurement of residual boundary condition of superior vena cava,aorta side and the top side of the atrium (all P＞0.05),whereas significant difference was found in measuring the residual boundary condition of inferior vena cava (F=50.39,P＜0.001).There were statistic differences between 2DTEE and 2DTTE,RT-3DTEE and 2DTTE,RT-3DTEE and 2DTEE (all P＜0.05).The clinic therapy can be directed by RT-3DTEE in all 57 cases.The diagnosis of 5 cases was failed by 2D-TTE,and 2 cases was failed by 2D-TEE.Conclusion Abundant image information can be offered by RT-3DTEE which plays an important role in the risk assessment of unusual atrial septal defect.

Objective To explore the optimum concentration of bioactive glass that promotes early enamel caries remineralization. Methods Fresh bovine incisors were selected and used for enamel specimen preparation. All specimens were randomly divided into two groups:micro hardness group and fluorescence group. Both groups were further divided into 3%, 6%and 9%groups. These specimens were placed in containers with demineralization liquid at 37℃for 72 hours. Then they were treat with 3%, 6%and 9%bioactive glass solution respectively twice a day for 5 minutes each. Samples in all three groups were dipped circularly into an artificial demineralization solution and an artificial saliva solution for 15 days. The mi?crohardness of enamel surface was measured before and after demineralization and remineralization. The different value of microhardness before and after remineralization was calculated. The thickness of fluorescence beneath the surface of early enamel caries was observed to evaluate the extend of remineralization effect. Results The difference in value of micro hard?ness in 6%group was the highest while that in 3%group was the lowest. The differences were significant. The difference in value of demineralization depth in 6%group was greater than those in 3%and 9%groups (P<0.05). There was no statistical?ly significance between those in 3%group and 9%group. Conclution The optimum concentration of bioactive glass solu?tion that promotes the remineralization of early enamel caries is 6%, which is ideal for remineralization of early enamel caries.
