1.EFFCTS OF IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA ON IMMUNE FUNCTION IN RATS AND MICE
Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(01):-
Weanling rats and mice were fed on an iron-deficient diet. By the end of the 4th week, the rats were sacrificed for the determination of immune function and the mice were infected with S. typhimurium. The rate of peripheral blood lymphocytes transformation, total serum complement activity (CH50) and splenic tissue cAMP levels in the iron-deficient rats were 26.3? 5.86%, 58.39?14.79u/ml and 0.93?0.48 pmol/mg respectively, but that in the controls were 38.3?4.61%, 75.17?19.51u/ml and 2.69?1.17pmol/mg respectively. The former were significantly lower than the latter. The serum hemolysin (HC50) and serum lysozyme in the iron-deficient rats were 330.62 ?21.90 and 29.50 ?16.85ug/ml respectively; and that in the controls were 353.24?29.77 and 30.08?10.39ug/ml respectively. The differences between these two groups were not significant. Gross histological changes were found in the spleen of the iron-deficient rats, but no changes in the thymus. After the intraperitoneal injection of S. typhimurium, the mortality of iron-deficient mice were significantly higher than the controls.
2.EFFECT OF IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA ON MENTAL DEVELOPMENT IN INFANTS AND CHILDREN
Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(03):-
In this article, we applied single multiple factor analysis and paired iron supplement test to determine the effect of IDA on mental development in 6-36 months infants and children.333 infants and children aged from 6 to 36 months in kindergarten were selected for the experiment. The social environment, physical condition, developmental quotient (DQ), and so on were investigated. The results showed that the DQ in IDA infants (95.32, 9.47) was lower than that of the normal (101.62,10.28) P
3.EFFECT OF VITAMIN A DEFICIENCY ON IMMUNOLOGICAL FUNCTIONS OF CHILDREN
Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(04):-
Dietary survey, physical examination and blood tests were carried out on kindergarten children from two to seven-year old in Wuhan, excluding some influencing factors such as malnutrition and so on. Three groups, 50 children each, were differentiated according to serum vitamin A level .avita-minotic (011 mmol/L). Immunological parameters were determinated before and after vitamin A supplementation. The results showed.'there were significant differences of S-IgA,C3 and lymphocyte transformation active response to PHA and lysozyme between vitamin A deficiency and normal group, but not on IgG, IgA, IgM and PHA skin test. After vitamin A supplementation these immunological functions could be improved. So we concluded vitamin A in subclinic deficiency could influence immune function too, but it could be recovered through vitamin A supplementation.

6.EFFECT OF DIFFERENT LEVELS OF ZINC DEFICIENCY ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF FEMALE MICE AND THEIR FETUS
Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(01):-
Objective: To determine the effects of different levels of zinc deficiency and zinc supplementation in the early stage of pregnancy on the development of the female mice and their fetus, and the lowest toxic level was also investigated. [WT5FZ]Methods: The model of zinc deficiency (ZD) was established on Kunmin mice and the experiment included two parts. Part one: 36 female mice (14~18 g) were randomly divided into 3 groups, zinc deficient group (ZD); middle zinc group (ZM); normal zinc group (ZN). They were fed for 50 days and mated with male mice. Part two: 80 female mice (25~30 g) were randomly divided into 4 groups, zinc deficient group (ZD); zinc suppplemented group (ZS); zinc marginally deficient group (MD); normal zinc group (ZN). They were fed 25 days for depleting the zinc store in body, then mated with male mice. All the pregnant mice were killed on the 18 th day of pregnancy. The content of zinc in diet for different levels groups were: (3.0?0.5) mg/kg (ZD), 9 mg/kg (MD group), 15 mg/kg (ZM), 30 mg/kg (ZN).The mice in group ZS were fed ZD diet at first and then were changed to ZN diet at the 7 th day of pregnancy. [WT5FZ]Results: Part one: 1. The zinc content in serum was lower in ZD group (P

Objective To study and observe the effect of transnasal endoscopic surgery in the treatment of patients with fungal paranasal sinusitis. Methods A total of 82 cases of patients with fungal paranasal sinusitis were collected and divided into the control group (40 cases) and the observation group (40 cases) according to the principles of random, single blind and parallel control design, the patients in the control group received conventional surgical treatment, and the patients in the observation group received transnasal endoscopic surgical treatment, the two groups were observed and compared in terms of treatment efficiency, sinus cavity scores in the lesion range, average operation time, postoperative complication rate and patients' satisfaction degree. Results The effective rate in treatment group was 94.6%,significantly higher than that of control group (80.0%);the lesions sinus cavity score was 0 points in observation group, significantly lower than the control group (13.1 ± 1.9),the average operation time was (45.4 ± 10.9) min in the observation group, significantly shorter in the control group (76.3 ± 10.5) min;the postoperative complication rate was 3.2% in the observation group, which was significantly lower than that of 25.6% in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion The transnasal endoscopic surgery in the treatment of patients with fungal paranasal sinusitis can effectively improve the treatment efficiency, remove the mold lesions in the sinuses of patients, shorten the operation time and reduce the postoperative complication rate, and is conducive to promoting the rehabilitation of patients and improving the quality of life of patients, thus it is worth popularization and application.

Liver failure is characterized by rapid progress and extremely high mortality.Glucocorticoids are currently used in the treatment of liver failure to improve the prognosis, but they have not been widely recognized. This paper reviews the advances on pathogenesis of liver failure, the timing, efficacy and adverse effects of glucocorticoids treatment,so as to increase clinician's knowledge of glucocorticoids in treatment of liver failure,in order to increase the awareness and rational administration of glucocorticoids in treatment of liver failure.

Objective To observe the effect of Fuming Tablet on the content of ATP and MDA, and the activity of SOD in retinal tissue of rabbit retinal detachment (RD) and reattachment model. Methods 48 rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups, with 12 in each. 12 rabbits were taken as healthy control and fed with normal saline, the others in model group, western medicine group and Fuming Tablet group were prepared as RD model by injecting Sodium Halyuronate (Helen) into subretinal spaces, and the detached retinas were reattached automatically in 10 ~ 14 days. They were administered with normal saline, mixed preparation of western medicines and Fuming Tablet suspension respectively, then the content of ATP, MDA and SOD activity were determined in postoperative 1 week (the retina remained detached) and 3 weeks (the detached retina reattached). Results Effect of fuming tablet of increasing the content of ATP and the activity of SOD, reducing the content of MDA was similar with that of the mixed preparation of ATP, VitB1 and Venoruton. Conclusion Fuming Tablet can significantly improve the oxidation resistance and depress the lipid peroxidation of retinal tissue, thus alleviate and inhibit the development of retinal pathological changes to some extent.
