1.Importance of secondary exploitation for Chinese materia medica in traditional Chinese medicine field
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 1994;0(07):-
To explore the Chinese materia medica (CMM) for the second time has been attached increasingly importance in recent years. The author discusses the importance of the secondary exploitation to the development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). At the same time, the author analyzes the current situation of TCM, and points out that the advantages and disadvantages of TCM. They are complicated with each other, and this complicated situations have brought about the difficulties of development of TCM. So the author brings forward that the secondary exploitation for CMM is a positive approach to solve the current problems, for it not only adapts to the complexion of exploring the new drug, but also keeps inherent characteristic of TCM, and aims at the disadvantages of the traditional techniques of TCM. In addition, the author recounts the method of secondary exploitation for CMM from choosing the object, deepening the base research to reforming the techniques. In the end, the author tables some proposals for the secondary exploitation for CMM.

Antimicrobial peptides ( AMPs) are a kind of micromolecular peptides with antibacterial , antivirus and anti-tumor activities.Unlike conventional antibiotics , acquisition of resistance by a sensitive microbial strain against AMPs is surprisingly improbable .AMPs are not widely used clinically due to their toxicity , susceptibility to proteolysis and high manufacturing cost .Researchers have obtained some AMPs with high activity and low toxicity by structure modifications . The molecular design of AMPs as well as their development in the future are reviewed .

Objective:To investigate the gene expression variety of different genotype of F-ATPase subunit uncEBF in Streptococcus mutans (S.mutans) and to evaluate the relationship among uncEBF gene expression levels, genotypes and the acidurance ability of S.mutans. Methods:The relative expression quantity of uncEBF gene against the housekeeping gene recA was determined by the two-step method of semi-quantitative RT-PCR in 18 clinical isolates of S.mutans(7 with genotype A uncEBF and 11 with genotyp B,10 with high acidurance and 8 with low). A gel documentation system and QUANTITY ONES software were used to assay the data. Results:uncEBF mRNA expression level in the isolates with genotype A uncEBF was higher than that in those with genotype B(P

As a normative technical term, “nine needles” appears repeatedly inThe Internal Canon of Medicine, in which Miraculous Pivot set theNine Needles and Twelve Source Acupoints as the first passage. Therefore, the significance of “nine needles” is evident. This article expounded “nine needles” from the following six aspects:the origin, the name, the types, the functions, the use and the application, with a purpose to standardize the contents of “nine needles”, and analyse the connotation.

BACKGROUND:Previously, serious thoracolumbar burst fractures with spinal cord injury were mainly treated by anterior surgery. The superiority of conventional posterior repair lies in strong reduction and fixation effects. However, it is difficult to fuly decompression. The anterior and central cylinders of the injured vertebra cannot receive good reconstruction. Loss of correction and internal fixation failure always appear. It remains controversial which repair method is more ideal. OBJECTIVE:To comparatively analyze the effect of posterior and anterior approaches with subtotal vertebrectomy, decompression, reconstruction of spine, and internal fixation for patients with thoracolumbar burst fractures. METHODS: The data of 42 patients with thoracolumbar burst fracture treated by anterior and posterior approaches with subtotal vertebrectomy, decompression, and reconstruction of spine from May 2006 to December 2012 was retrospectively analyzed. They were divided into two groups according to the surgical procedures: anterior approach group (n=23) and posterior approach group (n=19). They were folowed up for at least 24 months. Repair results and imaging results were compared in patients of both groups. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:None patients in the two groups affected fixator loosing or breakage, and obtained good bone fusion. The intraoperative blood loss was more and operative time was longer in the anterior approach group than in the posterior approach group, showing significant difference (P < 0.05). The pulmonary function was significantly better in the posterior approach group than in the anterior approach group (P < 0.05). Visual Analog Scale score, Japanese Orthopaedic Association score for back pain and Frankel classification were significantly improved during final folow-up compared with pre-treatment in both groups, but no significant difference was found between groups (P > 0.05). No significant difference in the anterior vertebral height and kyphosis Cobb angle was detected before treatment, at 1 week after treatment and during final folow-up (P > 0.05). The incidence of postoperative complications was significantly higher in the anterior approach group than in the posterior approach group (P < 0.05). These findings confirm that subtotal vertebrectomy through anterior approach and posterior approach can effectively repair thoracolumbar burst fractures. However, the complications of posterior approach are less, and posterior approach has few impacts on the pulmonary function, is safe, and has good biocompatibility with the host.

Objective To investigate the relationships between occupational coping self-efficacy, job stress and core competence of nurses. Methods A total of 493 registered nurses were recruited in the survey with the Chinese nurse job stressors scale, occupational coping self-efficacy scale for nurses and competency inventory for registered nurse (CIRN). The correlations were analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis. Results The total scores on occupational coping self-efficacy, job stress of nurses and core competence of nurses were (31.94 ± 6.39), (90.29 ± 17.41) and (159.93 ± 34.31), respectively. Nurses′occupational coping self-efficacy negatively correlated with (r=-0.267, P<0.01) and positively correlated with the core competence of nurses (r=0.355, P<0.01). Conclusions The occupational coping self-efficacy of the nurses can be improved by successful experiencing, verbal persuasion and positive feedback. In this way, nurses core competence can be enhanced and their job stress can be relieved and consequently the quality of nursing can be enhanced.
