Objective To investigate the influence of EBV infection on the expression of tumor suppressor gene p53. Methods EBER1 in 217 cases of gastric carcinoma were detected with in situ hybridization. Then, EBV positive and negative cases were selected for analysis of the expression of p53 by immunohistochemistry. Results In 217 cases of gastric carcinoma, there were 23 cases with EBER1 positive. The average area (AA), mean absorbency and integral absorbency of p53 expression were higher in EBV positive gastric carcinoma than those in EBV negative. Conclusions EBV infection of gastric carcinoma is closely related to the expression of p53 in this study.

Objective:To investigate the expressions of Mfn2(mitofusin 2) in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tissues and non-cancerous lung tissues,and analyze its relationship with clinicopathological characteristics of lung carcinomas.Methods:The expressions of Mfn2 mRNA and protein in 92 cases of NSCLC tissues and 27 cases of non-cancerous lung tissues were detected by in situ hybridization and immunohistochemical methods. Results:The positive rates of Mfn2 mRNA and protein in pulmonary squamous cell carcinoma were higher than those in adenocarcinoma (83.33% and 89.58% vs 56.82% and 65.91%), respectively. The positive rates of Mfn2 mRNA and protein in NSCLC were higher than those in the non-cancerous lung tissues (25.93% and 29.63%) . The difference was statistically significant among the three groups (P<0.001 and P<0.01). The expressions of Mfn2 mRNA and protein in well-differentiated (93.75% and 100%) and moderately-differentiated NSCLC (91.67% and 91.67%) were higher than those in poor-diffe-rentiated NSCLC (21.43% and 42.86%). The difference was significant (P<0.001). The expressions of Mfn2 mRNA and protein had no correlation with the gender, age, tumor size, TNM stage and lymph node metastasis (P>0.05). The expression of Mfn2 mRNA was consistent with that of Mfn2 protein in NSCLC.Conclusion:Mfn2 was involved in the initiation and progression of lung cancer, and the expression of Mfn2 was related to the histological types of lung cancer and its differentiation degree.

Objective To investigate the role of dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) in the estimation of tumor angiogenesis and pathologic grading of extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.Methods Routine preoperative MRI and DCE-MRI scanning were performed on 57 patients with extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.The early signal enhancement ratio (eSER) and delayed signal enhancement ratio (dSER) of DCE-MRI were calculated.Microvessel density (MVD) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expressions were detected in the extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma tissue samples using immunohistochemical methods.The relations between the eSER or dSER and MVD,VEGF and the pathological grading of extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma were analyzed.Results There was a positive correlation between the eSER or dSER and MVD of extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (r =0.62,P ＜ 0.05 ; r =0.45,P ＜ 0.05).The eSER of extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma with a positive VEGF expression was higher than those with a negative VEGF expression (t =3.53,P ＜ 0.05).There was no significant difference in dSER between the positive VEGF expression group and the negative VEGF expression group (t =1.35,P ＞0.05).There was no significant difference in the eSER or dSER among the different differentiated extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (F =2.65,P ＞ 0.05 ; F =2.23,P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions The eSER and dSER reflected tumor angiogenesis of extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma,and DCE-MRI contributed to the evaluation of biological features of extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma in vivo.
