Objective To assess the efficacy of combining vestibular rehabilitation with cognitive behavioral therapy in treating chronic subjective dizziness ( CSD) and the associated anxiety. Methods A total of 98 anxious CSD patients were randomly divided into an experimental group ( n=50) and a control group ( n=48) . All of the pa-tients′scores on the Hamilton anxiety scale ( HAMA) were no less than 14 and their scores on the Hamilton depres-sion scale ( HAMD) were less than 18. Systematic vestibular rehabilitation was given to the patients in the control group, while this was combined with cognitive behavioral therapy for the patients in the experimental group. All pa-tients were evaluated using a dizziness handicap inventory ( DHI) and the HAMA before treatment and in the 4th and 8th week of the treatment. Results Before the treatment there was no significant difference between the 2 groups in any of the assessments. After 3 weeks of treatment, the average HAMA score, DHI total score and its factor scores had decreased significantly. Four weeks later, the average HAMA score, DHI total score and its factor scores for som-atization, emotion and function had improved significantly in both groups compared with before treatment and the scores after 3 weeks. After 3 and 7 weeks of treatment, the average HAMA score, DHI total score and its factor scores of the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group. Conclusion Cognitive behavioral therapy amplifies the effects of vestibular rehabilitation in treating persons with CSD, in part by significantly relieving their anxiety.

Objective: To observe the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) on uterine prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α), cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) and nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) in rats with primary dysmenorrhea (PD) and to discuss the possible mechanism in EA intervening PD. Methods: Forty Sprague-Dawley female rats were randomly divided into a blank group, a model group, an EA group and an ibuprofen group, with 10 rats in each group. The PD model was established using estradiol benzoate combined with oxytocin in the model group, EA group and ibuprofen group. At the same time of modeling, rats in the EA group were given EA at Guanyuan (CV 4) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) once a day for 20 min each time for 10 consecutive days. Ibuprofen was intragastrically administered once a day for 10 consecutive days in the ibuprofen group. The same amount of normal saline was intragastrically administered once a day for 10 consecutive days in the blank group and model group. The number of writhing of rats in each group within 30 min was compared on the 11th day just after the interventions. The uterine homogenate supernatant was separated and the PGF2α level was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Western blot was applied for the detection of the expression levels of COX-2, phospho-NF-κB p65 and NF-κB p65 proteins in uterine tissues. Results: Compared with the blank group, the number of writhing in the model group increased significantly (P<0.01), and the expression levels of PGF2α, COX-2, phospho-NF-κB p65 and NF-κB p65 proteins in uterine tissues were significantly increased (all P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the number of writhing in the EA group and ibuprofen group were significantly reduced (both P<0.01), and the expression levels of PGF2α and COX-2 protein in uterine tissues were significantly reduced (both P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the phospho-NF-κB p65 level in uterine tissues in the EA group was significantly reduced (P<0.01). Compared with the ibuprofen group, the phospho-NF-κB p65 level in the EA group was significantly reduced (P<0.01). Conclusion: The mechanism of EA for PD rats may be related to inhibiting the phosphorylation of NF-κB and reducing the levels of COX-2 and PGF2α in uterine tissues.

Chinese Journal of Behavioral Medicine and Brain Science 2014;23(5):433-435
Objective To investigate carotid atherosclerosis and its relevant risk factors of ischemic cerebral apoplexy in high-risk population and to explore new modes of behavioral influencing factors based on health management platform. Methods Using the carotid ultrasound screening of personnel undergoing physical examination, the differences of the related risk factors were studied among 1 152 cases of carotid atherosclerosis with differ ent gender and different age and different disease periods. Results High-risk population between 40-49 years wasmainly focused on mild lesions, and the numbers of serious lesions increased significantly among people older than 70;male patients numbered 51 were significantly much more than the females numbered 21 (P<0.01)during mild lesion period, there was no statistical significance between male numbered 36 and female numbered 29 during serious lesion period (P>0.05).Setting mild and serious period respectively as the dependent variables, and hypertension, overweight, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, smnoking, physical activity and atrial fibrillation as the independent variables to conduct logistic regression analysis,it showed that mild lesions were related to overweight, hypertension and dyslipidemia. The risk factors of serious lesion period included hypertension, overweight, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, atrial fibrillation, smoking and lack of physical activity. The female detection rates of hypertension and dyslipidemia in female patients, which were 83.8% and 44.1% respectively, were higher than those in male patients, which were 67.6% and 31.0% respectively. The detection rates of smoking and arterial fibrillation in female patients, which were 0.7% and 0.3% respectively, were lower than those in male patients, which were 20.7% and 1.0% respectively. Conclusions Early detection of carotid atherosclerosis lesions and its relevant risk factors as soon as possible, and early intervention influencing factors to mild lesions to prevent the atherosclerosis from getting worse.A new model of zero level prevention can be developed to control of ischemic stroke based on health management platform.

Journal of Practical Radiology 2001;17(4):244-246
Objective To investigate enhanced CT scanning in differentiation of solitary pulmonary nodule and relationship between the degree and pattern of enhancement and vascularity. Methods 11 patients with surgically confirmed pulmonary carcinoma and 13 patients with inflammatory nodules and 6 patients with tuberculoma were studied with plain chest CT sean and enhanced scanning after injection of 100 ml iodinated contrast medium to observe the enhancement degree and pattern of the lesion before the surgery. Vaseularity of specimens of 11 carcinoma and 13 inflammatory nodules and 6 tuberculoma were examined pathologically and correlated with degree of enhancement. Results The pulmonary carcinoma and inflammatory nodules showed a significantly higher degree of enhancement than tuberculoma. But the carcinoma and the inflammation showed no differences in degree and pattern of enhancement. The degree of enhancement was positively correlated with the number of blood vessles. The vascularity of carcinoma and inflammation was far richer than that of tuberculoma. Conclusion The results suggested that the enhanced CT scanning are distinctively different between carcinoma and tuberculoma, whereas little different between carcinoma and inflammation. Vascularity of the lesion plays an important role in the manifestation of enhancement.

Objective To evaluate the inhibiting effect of selective and non-selective cyclo-oxygenase-2(COX-2) inhibitor on growth of colon cancer cell lines in vitro and its signal transduction pathway. Methods The proliferation of colon cancer cells was determined by MTT assay. COX-2, nuclear factor(NF)-?Bp65, extracellular-signal regulated kinase(ERK), phospho ERK(pERK) protein expressed in colon cancer cell lines were analyzed by Western blot. Activator protein(AP)-1 and NF-?B binding activity influenced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory was detected by electrophoretic mobility sift assay. Results Aspirin and celecoxib could inhibit the proliferation of HT-29, SW480 and LS174-T cells and showed a dose-dependent manner. Western blot analysis showed that expression of COX-2, pERK, NF-?Bp65 protein in colon cancer cells were down-regulated by celecoxib or aspirin in some degree but not effect in total ERK expression. AP-1 and NF-?B binding activity could be stimulated by 20% fetal calf serum or tumor necrosis factor-?. Both aspirin and celecoxib could inhibit fetal calf serum-induced AP-1 activation in HT-29 and SW480 cells. Celecoxib could also inhibit tumor necrosis factor induced NF-?B binding activity, but aspirin had little effects on SW480 cells. Conclusion NSAIDs are able to potentially inhibit the growth of colon cell lines in vitro and the mechanism may relate to AP-1 and NF-?B signal transduction pathway.
