Chinese Journal of Clinical Nutrition 2012;20(2):112-116
Probiotics modulate the biological functions (and even cell apoptosis) of intestinal epithelial cells, intestinal macrophages, intestinal dendritic cells, and T cells via cell signaling pathways including nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways.Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) and heat shock protein (hsp) are targets for probiotics or their products.
2.The application of sacral block anesthesia in pediatric interventional therapy
Journal of Interventional Radiology 2009;18(12):908-910
Objective To discuss the management and feasibility of sacral block anesthesia in pediatric interventional therapy. Methods A total of 80 pediatric patients were randomly and equally divided into two groups. Patients in group A received sacral block anesthesia together with basic anesthesia with propofol, while patients in group B received intravenous anesthesia with propofol. Small amount of ketamine as maintaining dose was used in both groups when needed. Results The interventional management was successfully completed in all patients. A marked decrease in blood pressure occurred in three patients of group A receiving sacral block anesthesia. In group B receiving intravenous anesthesia, a decrease, of SpO_2 to below 90 percent was seen in 8 cases, and obvious bradycardia developed in 12 cases. All these patients were treated with intravenous medication or by reducing the dose of propnfol. Additional small dose of ketamine was needed in 4 patients during the procedure. Conclusion Sacral block anesthesia combined with intravenous anesthesia is one of the effective anesthesia management schemes for pediatric interventional therapy.
3.Determination of T cell cycle and the expression of bcl-2 in asthmatic mice and its significance
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1989;0(05):-
AIM: To investigate the changes of T cell cycle, the expression of bcl-2 in allergic asthmatic mice and the effects of dexamethasone on them. METHODS: An animal model with asthma was established by means of ovalbumin sensitizing-challenging. CD3 expression in spleen and lymphocytes in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), T cell cycle and Bcl-2 expression in spleen were detected by flow cytometry. RESULTS: In BALF lymphocytes and spleen lymphocytes, CD3 expression rate in the asthmatic group was significantly higher than that of control group. In BALF lymphocytes, CD3 expression rate in the asthma plus dexamethasone group was significantly lower than that of the asthmatic group. However, in spleen lymphocytes, CD3 expression rate in the asthma plus dexamethasone group was significantly higher than that of the asthmatic group. In spleen lymphocytes, the cell count in S phase, G 2+M phase and apoptosis rate of T cell from the asthmatic group were significantly higher than that from the control group. Cell count in S phase, G 2+M phase and apoptosis rate of T cell from the asthmaplus dexamethasone group was significantly lower than that from the asthmatic group. The Bcl-2 expression rate of T cell from the asthmatic group was significantly higher than that from the control group. CONCLUSIONS: In the allergic asthmatic mice model, T cell count, proliferation and activation of T cells, apoptosis rate of T cells in spleen lymphocytes increase, meanwhile bcl-2 expression also increases significantly. There was no significant effect of dexamethasone on the bcl-2 expression. The therapeutic effects of dexamethasone on asthma may be not due to the inhibition of the bcl-2 expression in T cells.

METHODS:140 cases of acute soft tissue injury were treated with Zhenggu qutong tincture (treatment group) and Xiaoshangtong linimentum (control group) for 6 times each day (interval of 2 h) with cure course of seven days. The total effective rate and obvious effective rate were observed while the improvement of symptoms such as pain, tenderness, swelling, dysfunction and ecchymosis were also determined. RESULTS: The total effective rates were 94.29% for treatment group and 77.14% for control group while obvious effective rates were 74.28% and 37.14% respectively with significant difference (P
6.Application of Manual Stitching Technique for Digital Radiography in Total Knee Arthroplasty
Acta Medicinae Universitatis Scientiae et Technologiae Huazhong 2014;(4):456-458,459
Objective To obtain panorama X-ray images of the lower extremity with a simple method, eliminate the mosai-cing error, and apply this manual stitching technique for digital radiography to the measurement of the force line in total knee arthroplasty. Methods The track of X-ray tube was preset, and Dicom format data were collected by using digital X-ray ima-ging.Then,the data were imported to photoshop CS4 for manual image registration and image fusion. The reliability of the film was tested by comparing the vertical length of the body symbols proj ection in the coronal plane with that on the panorama X-ray (AutoCAD 2010)images.Moreover,the hip-knee-ankle angle was compared before and after operation. Results The matching sample t-test showed there were no significant differences in the length(4 groups of data)between the greater trochanter femur and the fibular head, and between the fibular head and the lateral malleolus between before and after operation(P>0.05 for all) .The hip-knee-ankles angle was much greater after operation than that before operation. Conclusion This manual stitching technique for digital radiography can produce seamless and precise panorama X-ray images, which can be used to reflect the length and angle of the lower extremity before and after operation.

Journal of China Pharmaceutical University 2001;(3):224-226
AIM The purpose is to investigate the Anti-inflammatory mechanism of Biota orientalis. METHODS Using rat leukocytes and rabbit platelets as experimental material the biosynthesis of leukotriene, 12-hydroxyheptadecatrienoic acid(12-HHT) and 12-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid(12-HETE) in the cells was determined with HPLC. RESULTS Biota orientalis was shown to inhibit the biosynthesis of leukotriene B4(LTB4) and 5-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid(5-HETE) with IC50 of 0.40 and 0.41 mg/ml crude herb, respectively. It was also displayed to inhibit biosynthesis of 12-HHT in the platelets. CONCLUSION Biota orientalis leaves contain anti-inflammatory components and the anti-inflammatory mechanism was related with inhibiting metabolism of arachidonic acid.

Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology 2014;(1):13-17
Objective:Breast cancer metastasis is a major cause of death. Lymphatic metastasis is one of the two main metastatic ways that is crucial to the metastasis process of breast cancer. To treat breast cancer metastasis, we prepared micelle-based drug carrier for lymphatic delivery. Methods:We used in vivo bioluminescence imaging for real-time dynamic monitoring of the inhibitory effect of polyethylene glycol phospholipid micelle encapsulating vinorelbine on breast cancer metastasis. Results: Compared with the free vinorelbine, vinorelbine-encapsulated micelles (NanoVin) showed a significantly enhanced anti-tumor activity both in primary and met-astatic tumors. Conclusion:Intravenous administration of NanoVin markedly prevented the metastasis of tumor cells through both he-matogenous and lymphatic systems. This study provides a new approach for treatment of metastatic tumors. Bioluminescence imaging is a powerful tool to dynamically monitor tumor metastasis and clinical therapeutic effect of anticancer drugs.
