An analytical method was developed for the determination of unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine ( UDMH ) in soil samples by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry with the pretreatment of alkaline distillation and ultrasonic derivatization. After pretreated by the alkaline distillation, the quantitative analysis of UDMH was conducted in selected ion monitoring ( SIM ) mode by using salicylaldehyde as derivatization reagent and ultrasonic to accelerate the derivative reaction. The characteristic ion of the derivative product named salicylaldehyde dimethylhydrazone was m/z 164 . Impact factors including types of the alkaline distillation and the derivative conditions with ultrasonic were investigated. The conditions of derivatization were optimized. Under the optimal conditions, linear range of the method was 0. 4-30 mg/L. The limit of detection (LOD, S/N=3) was 0. 0078 mg/kg. The method was used to detect total UDMH in real soil samples with known concentration. The recoveries ranged from 76% to 108% with relative standard deviations ( RSD) of 12%-19% at different spiked concentration levels from 10 mg/kg to 100 mg/kg. In comparison with the methods of spectrophotometry and Soxhlet extraction-ultrasonic derivatization, this method had lower detection limit, and could be used to detect total UDMH in soil samples.

Objective To investigate the significance of early diagnosis and intervention in cases with severe hand-foot-mouth disease. Methods Nine severe cases were chosen from 220 hospitalized children with hand-foot-mouth disease for retrospective analysis, including onset, disease progression, the blood and cerebrospinal fluid tests, electroencephalogram data, patients' treatment responses and prognosis. Pearson X2 test and t test were utilized for statistical analysis. Results All cases showed nervous systems involved symptom, including meningeal irritation sign and (or) other pathological signs of nervous system (9 cases), drowsy (7 cases), trembling (6 cases), voiding dysfunction (3 cases), hypersensitivity(3 cases), autonomic nervous system disorders (2 cases), ataxia (1 case), left leg mild paralysis (1 case) and early stage of pulmonary edema (1 case). Early intervention, such as high dose gamma globulin, methylprednisolone, mannitol treatment restriction of fluid input, started before the development of heart and lung failure. No case died but one patient with encephalomyelitis showed hobbling left leg, which didn't recover until 6 weeks later. One case with brainstem encephalitis still showed abnormal electroencephalogram after 8 weeks follow-up but without clinical symptom. Conclusions Enterovirus 71 can cause severe hand-foot-mouth disease complicated by encephalitis, meningitis and pulmonary edema. Early active intervention before the development of neurogenic pulmonary edema can improve the prognosis and reduce the mortality.

2,3,5,4'-tetra-hydroxystilbene-2-O-glucoside (THSG), the water-soluble active components extracted from dried tuber root of Polygonum multiflorum (Polygonaceae), can promote the release of nitric oxide (NO) from vascular endothelial cells and has strong antioxidation. The postconditioning's protection of THSG on cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury and the mechanism were investigated. After reperfusion for 3 h following occlusion of rat left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) for 30 min, SαT recovery speed, arrhythmia and cardiac infarct size were observed. The ischemic size and infarct size was identified by using Evans blue and TTC staining methods respectively. The results showed that the infarct size in THSG 7. 5 mg/kg postconditioning group was significantly decreased from 43.6 %±9.1 % in mode group to 16.5 %±6.5 % (P<0.01).SαT recovery was quicker and the incidence of arrhythmia (55.6 % vs 100 %, P<0.05) was significantly lower than in control group. The infarct size in THSG+glybenclamide group was greater than in THSG group, but equivalent to that in control group (46.8 %±9.8 % vs 43.6 %±9. 1 %, P >0. 05), SαT recovery speed slower and the incidence of arrhythmia also lower (33. 3 % vs 100 %, P<0. 01), suggesting that glybenclamide could abolish the effects of THSG postconditioning reducing the cardiac infart size. It was concluded that THSG administration before reperfusion could effectively alleviate the cardiac reperfusion injury and possessed the postconditioning effects of reducing cardiac infarct size, which might be related with the KATP channel opening.

Nitroxide radicals are a kind of stable organic free radicals. Due to the presence of N-O· and unpaired electrons in its structure, it has many characteristics, and thus can be used as a spin marker to explore the mechanism of biological reactions; with its magnetic properties, it can be used for the development of multifunctional magnetic molecular materials and used as a polymerization inhibitor and catalyst in organic reactions. More importantly, it has a variety of biological activities such as anti-oxidation and anti-tumor, and so has attracted much attention in the research and development of new drugs. For example, the spin labeling of nitroxide radicals on anticancer drug podophyllotoxin can enhance the efficacy and reduce the toxicity, and can be easily to be absorbed by the body, thus obtaining a new anti-cancer drug 4-[4″-(2″,2″,6″,6″-tetramethyl-1″-piperidinyloxy nitroxide radical) amino]-4′-demethyl epipodophyllotoxin(GP-7). It is an effective way to seek new drugs by introducing pharmacophore to modify nitroxide radicals or it can be spin-labeled on active natural products to obtain new compounds with high efficiency and low toxicity. The research progress of derivatives and its biological activitives of nitroxide radicals are summarized, aiming to provide theoretical basis for the developing and utilizing of nitroxide radicals and searching for new drugs.

Objective To explore the diagnostic value of ESWAN in uterine fibroids by analyzing the ESWAN signal of uterine fibroid. Methods Conventional MRI and ESWAN were carried out in thirty-seven patients with uterine fibroids. The differences of ESWAN indexes between uterine fibroids and myometrium were analyzed by paired t-test.The value of ESWAN on diagnosing uterine fibroids was analyzed by receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC curve). Results The magnitude value, phase value,R2* value and T2*value of uterine fibroids were 1 661.69 ± 45.24,(0.006 7 ± 0.007 7)Hz,(26.69 ± 1.04)Hz and(34.68 ± 1.73)ms,respectively.The magnitude value, phase value,R2* value and T2* value of myometrium were 1 790.95 ± 49.04,(0.013 1 ± 0.011 8)Hz,(22.35 ± 0.84)Hz and(42.53 ± 2.16)ms.The magnitude value, phase value and T2* value of uterine fibroids were lower than those of myometrium (P=0.008,P=0.659 and P=0.002).While the R2* value of of uterine fibroids was higher than that of myometrium(P=0.001). The area under curve(AUC)of magnitude value, phase value,R2* value and T2* value were 0.604,0.553,0.666 and 0.662.Conclusion ESWAN can show the differences between uterine fibroids and myometrium ,while the ability to independently diagnose uterine fibroids was modest.
