1.Value of mismatch negativity in diagnose and prognosis of amnestic mild cognitive impairment

Objective To evaluate the value of event-related potential mismatch negativity(ERP-MMN)for diagnosis and prognosis of amnestic mild cognitive impairment(aMCI).Methods 181 people were enrolled in this study,including 102 aMCI patients and 79 normal people and all of them underwent the clinical symptom and performance of neuropsychologieal measures and cranium imaging and examination of MMN.aMCI patients were judged to progress to Alzheimer's disease(AD)or not by clinical symptom and performance of neuropsychological measures during 1 year follow-up period.Through analysis of peak latency (PL)and amplitude(Amp),the value of MMN in diagnosis of aMCI and normal subjects was assessed,judging aMCI progress to AD or not.Results In contrast to normal control subjects(NC),PL of MMN in subjects of aMCl was significantly longer and Amp was significantly shorter,PL of MMN(312.7±25.7)ms vs(285.1±28.8)ms(t=6.81,P<0.01),Amp(3.5 ±1.3)μV vs(4.7±1.1)μV(t=-6.37,P<0.01).Moreover,PL of MMN in subjects of aMCl which would progress to AD was significantly longer than of subjects of aMCI which would not progress,(332.2±24.1)ms vs(307.5 ±24.0)ms(t=2.75,P=0.007).However.significantly difference was not observed in Amp of MMN and neuropsychological measures between subjects of aMCI would progress and not.Conclusions MMN can be used in auxiliary diagnosis and judging prognosis of aMCI.It is appropriate when is required to reflect and monitor periodic cognitive state of subjects of aMCI.

Objective To observe the effect of emodin capsule on constipation model mice caused by diphenoxylate and compare it with the effect of Rhubarb & sodium bicarbonate tablet.Methods The ICR mice were divided into 6 groups as blank control group, diphenoxylate model group, emodin 25mg/kg,50mg/kg,100mg/kg group, and Rhubarb & sodium bicarbonate tablet 500mg/kg group. The blank control group and model group were given distilled water intragastrically while the rest 4 groups were given certain doses. The time of first dark stool defecation and 6-hour defecation quantity of each mouse were observed and recorded. 3.Investigation on the radioactivity level of natural rock in Lhasa

Objective To investigate the radioactivity level of natural rocks in Lhasa in order to obtain the radionuclide contents and availiability of the rock.Methods Radiation monitoring and sampling were carried out in the natural rock mining area in Lhasa,and the contents of radionuclides in the samples were analyzed.Both internal and external exposure indexes were calculated,and the rocks were classified according to the relevant national standards on building materials.Results The average specific activity of 40K,226Ra,232Th and 238U in the rock samples were 912,59.0,77.1,and 64.4 Bq/kg,respectively.Internal and external exposure indexes were both less than 1.Conclusions The radioactivity level in natural rocks in Lhasa were lower than the national levels.The natural rocks could be used as main building materials and Class A decoration materials.
4.Effect of doxapram on inhibition of medullary respiratory center excitability by sevoflurane in rats

Objective To investigate the effect of doxapram on inhibition of medullary respiratory center excitability by sevoflurane in rats.Methods Neonatal Sprague-Dawley rats of both sexes,aged 1-4 days,were used in this study.Isolated medulla oblongata-spinal cord specimens were made according to the method described by Suzue and perfused with the artificial cerebrospinal fluid saturated with 95%O2-5%CO2.The specimens were randomly divided into 3 groups ( n =9 each):control group (group C),sevoflurane group (group S) and sevoflurane + doxapram group (group S + D).Respiratory rhythmical discharge activity of the hypoglossal nerve rootlets was recorded using suction electrode.After 10 min of equilibration,the specimens were perfused with the artificial cerebrospinal fluid,5% sevoflurane and the mixture of 5% sevoflurane and 5 μmol/L doxapram for 10 min in groups C,S,and S + D respectively.The respiratory cycle,inspiratory time and integral amplitude of inspiratory discharge were recorded.Results Compared with group C,the respiratory cycle was significantly prolonged,the inspiratory time was significantly shortened,and the integral amplitude of inspiratory discharge was significantly decreased in group S (P < 0.05),and no significant change was found in the parameters mentioned above in group S + D (P > 0.05).Compared with group S,the respiratory cycle was significantly shortened,the inspiratory time was significantly prolonged,the integral amplitude of inspiratory discharge was significantly increased in group S + D ( P < 0.05).Conclusion Doxapram antagonizes sevoflurane-induced inhibition of excitability of medullary respiratory center in rats.

6.Influence of HIWI gene silencing in biological behavior of bladder carcinoma cells

Objective To investigate the influence of HIWI gene silencing in biological behavior of T24 cells and explore the possibility for HIWI gene to be used as the molecular target of inhibiting bladder carcinoma cell proliferation with gene transfection and RNA interference(RNAi) technique.Methods T24 cells were divided into transfection group with pGenesil-2-HIWI,transfection group with pGenesil-2-HIWI2263,transfection group with pGensil-2-control,and two control groups transfected with PEI only,and PBS only,respectively.T24 cells were transfected with shRNA expression vectors targeting HIWI gene by PEI,and the cell proliferation and cell cycle were measured by MTT assay and FCM.Results At the time of post-transfection 24 h,the inhibitory rate of cell proliferation in transfection groups were 32.60% and 26.09%,they were lower than that in control group(3.54%).At the time of post-transfection 48 h,the percentages of cells at S phase in transfection groups were(29.39? 3.27)% and(30.87?10.88)%,they were lower than that in control group(39.36%?2.09%)(P
7.The clinical significance of urinary B-type natriuretic peptide assay for the diagnosis of chronic heart failure

ObjectiveTo investigate the value of urinary BNP for diagnosis of chronic heart failure (CHF). MethodsThe levels of Urinary BNP and plasma BNP were measured by microparticle enzyme immunoassay (MEIA) in 83 patients with CHF and 30 control subjects. The heart function was classified according totheNYHAcriteria. Leftventricularejectionfractions(LVEF)weremeasuredby echocardiology. ResultsThe level of urinary BNP in patients with CHF was[90. 0(38. 3 -209. 5 )]ng/L and the level of plasma BNP was[680. 0 ( 289. 7 - 1543.5)]ng/L, both of them were much higher than those in healthy subjects,[17. 0 ( 13.0 - 33. 0)]ng/L and[84. 5 ( 56. 0 - 158.0 )]ng/L, respectively (P<0. 01 ). The concentrations of urinary BNP increased gradually with more severe symptoms ( NYHA cl ass Ⅰ -ⅣV ). The level of urinary BNP was positively correlated with NYHA class ( r = 0. 742, P < 0. 01 )and the level of plasma BNP (r =0. 842,P <0. 01 ) while negatively related with LVEF (r = -0. 801 ,P <0. 01 ). The level of urinary BNP in patients with LVEF < 40% was[143.0 ( 85. 0 - 258.0)]ng/L , which was much higher than that in patients with LVEF≥40% ,[31.5( 17.3 -38. 8)]ng/L, (P <0. 01 ). At a decision threshold of 36. 5 ng/L, the urine BNP assay demonstrated a clinical sensitivity and specificity of 84% and 80% ,respectively. In this study,the area under the curve(AUC) was 0. 905. ConclusionUrinary BNP is a new candidate marker for the diagnosis of CHF,it provides a similar accuracy with plasma BNP.
8.Experience of XU Peng-lin in using medicine in treating chronic gastritis

Objective:To analyze the experience of XU Peng-lin in using medicine in treating chronic gastritis,exploring the method for summarizing the experience of famous TCM practitioner.Methods:Professor Xu's 212 typical cases of chronic gastritis were collected,using related rules and point mutual information to analyze the prescription compatibility for the chronic gastritis.Results:Utilization of 12 kinds of drugs were over 30 percents,includinging Pinellia,dried ginger,mongolian milkvetch root,Medicinal Evodia Immature Fruit,and liquorice root,etc..The common compatibility rules were warming spleen-stomach to eliminat dampness,acridness and sweetness activating yang,sour-sweet herbs nourishing yin,pungency disperses while bitterness descends,application of both cold and heat,and combination of reinforcing and reducing.The basic prescriptions for chronic gastritis used by professor XU were Pinelliae Decoction for Purging Stomach-Fire,Zuojin Pill,Huangqi Jianzhong Decoction.Conclusion:Harmonizing yin and yang,reinforcing deficiency and reducing the excess,regulating the activities of qi,harmonizing zang and fu organs were the treatment for chronic gastritis by professor XU,which provided the methodological reference toTCM in treating the chronic gastritis.

10.Toric posterior chamber phakic intraocular lenses implantation for moderate high myopic astigmatism

Objective To evaluate efficacy ,stability and safety after implantation of toric implantable collamer lens (TICL) to correct moderate to high myopic astigmatism .Methods This study evaluated 125 eyes of 71 patients with moderate to high myopic astigmatism who accepted TICL implantation .LogMAR uncorrected(UCVA) and best corrected(BCVA) visual acuity ,intraocular pressure ,cycloplegic refraction and manifest refraction examination were assessed preoperatively on 3 ,6 ,12 months postoperatively . The rotation of TICL axis were measured on 3 ,6 ,12 months postoperatively .Results 12 months postoperatively ,the logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution(LogMAR) UCVA were 0 .064 ± 0 .157 which were remarkably better than preoperative BCVA (P<0 .01) .119 eyes(95 .2% ) had postoperative UCVA better than or equal to preoperative BCVA .The manifest spherical refrac‐tion(absolute value) was (0 .36 ± 0 .41)D .105 (84 .0% ) eyes were within ± 0 .5 D .The mean manifest refractive cylinder was (-0 .63 ± 0 .61)D .109(87 .2% ) eyes had ≤ -1 .00 D .The mean rotation on 12 months postoperatively was (4 .76 ± 6 .14)° .The rotation of 101(80 .8% ) eyes were within 5 degrees .No vision threatening complications occurred during the observation period . Conclusion Implantation of TICL is safe and stable in the treatment of moderate to high myopic astigmatism .TICL is an ideal sur‐gical option to treat moderate to high myopic astigmatism .
