5.Clinical analysis of incomplete Beh et′s disease
Chinese Journal of Ocular Fundus Diseases 2003;0(06):-
Objective To investigate the clinical diagnosis and treatment of incomplete Beh et′s disease. Methods The clinical data of 52 patients (83 eyes ) with incomplete Beh et′s disease were retrospectively analysed. Visual acuity and results of examination of slit-lamp microscope, ocular fundus, and fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) were observed and analysed. All of patients were treated by local cycloplegic, systemic treatment with glucocorticoid and cytoxan. The followed-up period was 1 year or more. Results Recurrent hypopyon or empyema of anterior chamber angle, and hyperaemia of optic papilla was found in 54 and 41 eyes, respectively. The results of FFA showed that abnormal changes were found in all of the eyes. There was vascular leakage and staining of optic papilla at the early and late stage in 83 eyes (100%), diffuse leakage of retinal capillary vessel in 83 eyes (100%), and leakage of affected branch of retinal vessel and staining of the vascular wall at the late stage in 71 eyes (85.54%).After the treatment, the disease recovered completely in 20 patients (26 eyes), recovered partly in 20 (33 eyes), and alleviated in 12 (24 eyes). No patients suffered from hypopyon or empyema of anterior chamber angle and hyperemia of optic papilla. None of the patients had oral ulcer, genital ulcer or arthritis until the last day of the follow-up. Conclusions Recurrent hypopyon, papillitis, and retinal vasculitis were the main clinical manifestations of incomplete Beh et′s disease. FFA redounds to the diagnosis of the disease and timely application of cycloplegic and systemic application of glucocorticoid and cytoxan may inhibit the aggravation of the disease effectively.

Chinese Journal of Trauma 2001;17(3):158-160
Objective To explore the phenomenon of neural apoptosis after chronic compressive spinal cord injury. Methods A newly designed chronic progressive compressive spinal cord injury model of rat was adopted in this study. Forty-five Wister rats were divided into mild, moderate, and severe group according to the compressive degree of the spinal cord. The Feulgen stain and TUNEL were used to investigate the apoptosis and its characteristics in different kinds of neural cells. Results Apoptosis index in moderate injury group was the highest. Apoptotic cells largely located in ventral, lateral and dorsal column of the white matter. Most of them were oligodendrocytes. Positive neuron occasionally presented in laminae Ⅲ~Ⅸ part of the sections. Most of them located in dorsal gray horn. Conclusions Apoptosis is an important event in secondary pathophysiological process of chronic progressive compressive spinal cord injury. Apoptosis is one of the reasons for neural cell death. The apoptosis of oligodendrocytos may contribute to myelin sheath disruption of white matter.

[Objective] To recommend an ideal method for extracting Ⅰ-collagen from cortical bone.[Method]The cortical bone of pig was splitted into small pieces after the soft tissues were cleaned up.The bone pieces were gradually dehydrated in alcohol, defatted in aether, decalcificated in hydrochloric acid, redefatted in chloroform:methanol(1:1,v/v)and became soft. The soft pieces were disintegrated into demineralized bone matrix(DBM)powder in a high speed mill. The osseins were extracted respectively by enhanced pepsin digestion method or alkali-solution method after the DBM powder was treated with desolving, centrifuging, dialyzing and lyophilization. The product got by enhanced pepsin digestion method was further confirmed. The extraction rate and appearance, viscosity and solidification of both products were analyzed and compared.[Result]The collagen produced by extraction of enhanced pepsin digestion method was confirmed to be I-collagen by analyzing amino-acid composition, protein electrophoresis, relative moleculas weight and max wavelength about light absorption. The extraction rate of Ⅰ-collagen by enhanced pepsin digestion method was(94.0?14.96)% as comparision with by alkali-solution method(57.8?4.96)% and the viscosity test of acetic and solution at the concentration 0.03%(w/v)was 3.71 and 2.81 respectively. At the condition of 37?,pH 7.35~7.45,the collagen solution extracted by enhanced pepsin digestion method solidified and changed into a glue 10 minutes later, while the product solution by extraction with alkali-solution was still like a sticky liquid.[Conclusion]Ossein extracted from cortical bone with enhanced pepsin digestion method is a realⅠ-collagen.Compared with alkeli-solution extraction method, the enhanced pepsin digestion extraction method has advantages of higher extraction rate, better purity, better viscosity and fine solidification of the product, and is a choice to prepare the Ⅰ-collagen from cortical bone.
