[Objective]To investigate the clinical result of the Chinese traditional medicine combed with western medicine treatment for proximal humerus malunited fracture.[Method]Twenty-nine patients including 24 men and 5 women with malunion of proximal humerus were treated with the locking proximal plate. The average age of patients was 41.6 years old(from 21 to 53 years old).According to Neet classification on X ray,20 cases were two-part fractures and 9 cases were three-part fractures. These patients were treated by combination of Chinese traditional and western medicine, with the help of the functional training. All patients with proximal humerus malunited fracture were treated by operations with locking proximal humerus plate.A herbal bath was used to bathe after surgery.[Result]All 29 cases were available for follow-up.The average time for bony union on X ray was 9.6 weeks(from 8 to 12 weeks).Nonunion was not found in all cases.According to the Neer scoring system, there were 23 excellent cases,4 good case and 2 fair case. The excellent and good rate was 93.1%.[Conclusion]In dealing with proximal humerus malunited fracture, the advantages of the locking proximal humerus plate are minimally invasive with reliable fixation, few complication and the high bone union rate.A herbal bath can fasten recovering the function of the shoulder.Chinese traditional medicine combined with western medicine treatment can make satisfactory result and it is an effective method to recover the function of the shoulder.
5.Clinical analysis of incomplete Beh et′s disease
Chinese Journal of Ocular Fundus Diseases 2003;0(06):-
Objective To investigate the clinical diagnosis and treatment of incomplete Beh et′s disease. Methods The clinical data of 52 patients (83 eyes ) with incomplete Beh et′s disease were retrospectively analysed. Visual acuity and results of examination of slit-lamp microscope, ocular fundus, and fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) were observed and analysed. All of patients were treated by local cycloplegic, systemic treatment with glucocorticoid and cytoxan. The followed-up period was 1 year or more. Results Recurrent hypopyon or empyema of anterior chamber angle, and hyperaemia of optic papilla was found in 54 and 41 eyes, respectively. The results of FFA showed that abnormal changes were found in all of the eyes. There was vascular leakage and staining of optic papilla at the early and late stage in 83 eyes (100%), diffuse leakage of retinal capillary vessel in 83 eyes (100%), and leakage of affected branch of retinal vessel and staining of the vascular wall at the late stage in 71 eyes (85.54%).After the treatment, the disease recovered completely in 20 patients (26 eyes), recovered partly in 20 (33 eyes), and alleviated in 12 (24 eyes). No patients suffered from hypopyon or empyema of anterior chamber angle and hyperemia of optic papilla. None of the patients had oral ulcer, genital ulcer or arthritis until the last day of the follow-up. Conclusions Recurrent hypopyon, papillitis, and retinal vasculitis were the main clinical manifestations of incomplete Beh et′s disease. FFA redounds to the diagnosis of the disease and timely application of cycloplegic and systemic application of glucocorticoid and cytoxan may inhibit the aggravation of the disease effectively.

Objective To analyze pathologic features, therapeutic strategies and prognosis of patients with metastatic solid pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas (m-SPTP). Methods Twenty five patients with m-SPTP undergoing radical resection between June 1985 and Dec 2005 were retrospectively analyzed. Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to screen out risk factors of the prognosis of m-SPTP patients. Results Twenty-three postoperative patients were followed up until Dec 2007. The follow-up rate was 92% and the median follow up time was 78 months. The 5-year overall survival rate was 82%. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that five variables including age, tumor size, pathologic features, number of metastatic lesions and lymphatic metastasis were related to overall survival. Conclusions Solid pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas is low-grade malignant potential with a favorable prognosis, but not for the m-SPTP.Patients of ≥40 years old, tumor size (≥6 cm), pathologic features (including presence of areas with diffuse growth pattern and tumor necrosis), multiple metastatic lesions and lymphatic metastasis have poor prognosis.
