Objective To observe the outcomes of hip arthroplasty with modular S-ROM prosthesis for failed internal fixation of intertrochanteric fracture.Methods Fifteen patients who had been admitted for failed internal fixation of intertrochanteric fracture from January 2013 to May 2015 were reviewed retrospectively in this study.They were 9 men and 6 women,aged from 55 to 86 years (average,72 years).Their primary internal fixation methods included dynamic hip screw (DHS) in 7 patients,proximal femoral nail anti-rotation (PFNA) in 5 and proximal femoral locking plate in 3.The causes for internal fixation failure were implant loosening in 5 patients,screw breakage in 6,and cutting-out of screws in 4.All the patients received hip arthroplasty with modular S-ROM prosthesis to treat their fracture nonunion or displacement.Harris hip scores were measured before operation and at the final follow-up.Results Their average operative time was 156 min (from 118 to 180 min) and average intraoperative blood loss 432 mL (from 230 to 700 mL).No fracture or neurovascular damage occurred during operation.The 15 patients were followed up for 13 to 35 months (mean,24 months).Postoperative dislocation of the artificial joint happened in one patient and nonunion of the greater trochanter due to massive bone defects was observed in 2 patients.Follow-ups showed none of the patients had such severe complications as infection,deep vein thrombosis or peri-prosthesis fracture.At the last follow-up,15 patients obtained Harris hip score of 90.6 (from 78 to 95),with 11 excellent,3 good and one fair cases.Conclusion Hip arthroplasty with modular S-ROM prosthesis is a safe and effective treatment for failed internal fixation of intertrochanteric fracture.

Objectives: To investigate the effects of adhesion and proliferation of bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) in the surface of lactic acid/glycolic acid/asparagic acid-co-polyethylene glycol PLGA-[ASP-PEG] tri-block polymer scaffolds, try to find a new biomaterial to induce seed cells in vitro for bone tissue engineering. Methods: Modified PLGA with polyethylene glycol (PEG) and asparagic acid (ASP) that has many ligands, and synthesis PLGA-[ASP-PEG] polymer material. BMSCs were cultured in PLGA-[ASP-PEG] polymer material and PLGA used as control group. Through precipitation method, MTT assay and total cellular protein detection to test the adhersion and proliferation of BMSCs. Scanning electron microscope is used to observe cells appearance. Results: BMSCs on the surface of PLGA-[ASP-PEG] polymer scaffolds are adherention to the culture flask, the number of cells is much higher than PLGA’s. Aim To investigate the chemical compo-nents and antibacterial and nematicidal activity of en-doparasitic fungi ThF-1 1 of Tripterygium hypoglaucum (Levl.)Hutch.Methods The endophyte ThF-1 1 was isolated,purified and identified based on fungal ITS sequence.The chemical components were isolated and identified with column chromatography and NMR spec-trometer,respectively.The nematicidal and antibacte-rial activity was investigated by biological active meth-od and inhibition zone method.Results The endo-phyte ThF-1 1 was identified as Penicillium simplicissi-mum,the compounds were identified as Penicillic acid [1 ],2,4-dimethoxy-6-methylphenol [2]and 5 (6)-dihydropenicillic acid [3 ] based on spectral data. Compound [1 ]showed significant activity against Cae-norhabditis elegans in a dose-dependent manner,and had antibacterial activity to Escherichia coli,Bacillus cereus,Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.Conclusion These com-pounds are firstly isolated from endophyte ThF-1 1 of T. hypoglaucum (Levl.)Hutch.Compound [1 ]shows strong nematicidal activity and antibacterial activity, and is worth further studying and developing.

Background Trans-scleral fixation of intraoculalen(IOL) hamade greaprogress,buthe long-term stability of the implanposition of IOL aftesurgery inoideal.Objective Thistudy wato investigate the relevanfactorof IOL dislocation aftetrans-scleral fixation of IOL.Methodrespective case-observational study wadesigned.The clinical datfrom 321 eyeof 321 patientwho had received trans-scleral fixation of IOL were collected.total of 263 patientcompleted the effeetive follow-up,and 164 patientwith the follow-up fomore than 5 years.No IOL dislocation occurred within 5 yearin all 263 eyes.The relationship between IOL material,IOL implantation location,the time of IOL dislocation and the intraoculapressure with IOL dislocation were analyzed.ResultIOL dislocation appeared 7-10 yearaftesurgery in 9 eyewith an incidence rate of 5.49％.Breakage of IOL suture wafound in all the eyewith IOL dislocation.Dislocation wamore frequently found in IOL performed in the oblique position than thain the horizontal position (10.0％ vs.3.5％).The rate of IOL dislocation wahighesin traumatiretinal detachmeneyes,apercentage of 33.33％.Single piece IOL wamore easily dislocated.ConclusionThe breakage of anchosuturein IOL ileading cause of IOL dislocation aftetrans-scleral fixation of intraoculalens,which may be associated with the weighresulting from the fixation procesin non-level angulaIOL.Iirecommended thaIOL should be fixed in the horizontal position.

Objective To explore the effects of surface modification of PLGA-[ASP-PEG] scaffold with typeⅠcollagen on the adhesion,proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of rabbit bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs).Methods After PLGA-[ASP-PEG] materials were modified with typeⅠcollagen chemically,the collagen was coated onto the materials physically.The BMSCs obtained from rabbits were cultured on the modified PLGA-[ ASP-PEG] and on the unmodified PLGA-[ ASP-PEG] as control.The adhesion and proliferation behavior of the cells was analyzed and the expressions of osteogenie marker alkaline phosphatase,osteocalcin,osteopontin,typeⅠcollagen and core binding factor al were also detected.Results X-ray photoelectron spectrometry(XPS) confirmed that TypeⅠcollagen was grafted onto the surface of PLGA-[ASP-PEG] successfully and the collagen content on the materials modified chemically and physically was significantly increased.The abilities of adhesion and proliferation and the expressions of osteogenie makers of the BMSCs were significantly greater than those in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Since Type collagen I can improve the biocompatibility of PLGA- [ASP-PEG] scaffold materials,it can be used as a new way to optimize scaffolds in tissue engineering.

Objective To explore the gene expression of interleukin-13 receptor (IL-13R)?2 and its relationship to proliferation activity of human gliomas.Methods The gene expression of IL-13R?in 50 hu- man gliomas,2 malignant human glioma cell lines and 6 normal brain tissues were studied by RT-PCR.Ki-67 labeling index (Ki267 LI) of all sample were detecteded by immunohistochemical staining.Results Only one normal brain tissues expressed very low IL-13R?2 mRNA,whereas 35 (70%) of 50 human brain tumors expressed 1L-13R?2 mRNA.The positive rate and expression level of IL-13R?2 mRNA were increased with the ascending of WHO tumor grade.(former:rs=0.87;letter:rs=0.69,P＜0.01).The difference of posi- tive rate and expression level of IL-13R 2?mRNA between the low grade and high grade tumors was statistical- ly significant,the proliferation activity of gliomas evaluated by Ki-67LI (Ki-67 Labeling Index,Ki-67LI) was positively correlated with IL-13R?2 gene expression and the tumor grade.Conclusion In human cerebral gliomas,IL-13R?2 genes may play an role in the malignant progression.The expression level of malignancy in molecular level and selecting the target of gene therapy.

Objective To observe the change of capillary pericapillary cells in rats with myocardial infarction and the influence of supplementing qi and activating blood circulation herbs, and explore its mechanism of improving myocardial perfusion. Methods The rat model was established by ligaturing the left anterior descending coronary artery. On the base of ECG evaluation, successfully modeled rats were randomly divided into the model group, group treated with supplementing qi and activating blood circulation Chinese medicine (activating blood and supplementing qi group), group treated with Perindopril (Perindopril group), group treated with Tongxinluo Capsules (Tongxinluo group). The sham-operation group was taken as the control. There were totally 5 groups. The model group and the sham-operation group were treated with normal saline. The changes of myocardial capillary density (MCD) and number of pericapillary cells on the 7th, 28th day after medicinal administration were observed. Results On the 7th and 28th day, the MCD decreased significantly and the number of capillary pericapillary cells increased significantly in the model group compared with the sham-operation group (P<0.01). The MCD increased significantly in the activating blood and supplementing qi group, Perindopril group and Tongxinluo group compared with the model group (P<0.01). The number of pericapillary cells decreased significantly in the activating blood and supplementing qi group, Perindopril group and Tongxinluo group compared with the model group (P<0.01). Conclusion The supplementing qi and activating blood circulation herbs can improve regional myocardial blood supply by decreasing the number of pericytes and promoting regeneration of capillary.

Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of Jinkoubao on oral ulcer in rabbits and its action mechanism.Methods Among 60 SPF NewZealand rabbits,6 cases were randomly selected for the ulcer model identification,and the rest was randomly and equally divided into 3 groups:the control group (NC group),normal saline drug film group (NS group) and Jinkoubao film group (JK group).The rabbit model of oral ulcer was constructed by applying 40 ％ glacial acetic acid to burn rabbit oral mucosa for duplicating the oral ulcer model.of the change situation of oral ulcer was observed on the same day for constructing model,on 3,5,7 d after medication.The EGF level in oral mucosal tissue was detected by using RT-PCR and the local histopatho1ogical changes in oral ulcer was observed by using HE staining method.Results Compared with the NS group,the ulcer area on 3,5,7 d after medication in the JK group was significantly deceased (P＜0.01).Compared with the NS group,the EGF level in oral buccal mucosal tissue in the NS group and JK group was markedly increased (P＜0.01).But the EGF level increase in the JK group was faster than that in the NS group,the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.01).The HE staining section of rabbit oral ulcer on 3,5,7 d after medication showed that the inflammatory cells decrease in the JK group was more obvious than that in the NS group,fibroblasts proliferation was obvious and epithelial hyperplasia was good.Conclusion Jinkoubao could greatly improve the symptoms of oral ulcer in rabbits and promotes its healing,which is possible to strengthen the repair capacity of oral ulcer by regulating the EGF level.

Objective To investigate the accuracy of transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) for diagnosing left cardiac valve calcification in elderly patients.Methods In this retrospective study,410 elderly patients died in Beijing Hospital from 1982 to 2015 were collected.They all had full pathological cardiac valve examination data in the autopsy examination and full mortem TTE data.They were classified into three groups according to the year of death:group 1982-1995,group 1996-2005 and group 2006-2015,as well as into three groups according to the age of death:group 60-75,group76-90 and group 91-106.Results The sensitivity,specificity,diagnostic coincidence rate,positive likelihood ratio (PLR),negative likelihood ratio (NLR),positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value(NPV) of TTE versus autopsy pathological findings as golden standard for diagnosing left cardiac valve calcification were 88.6％,28.2％,43.7％,1.234,0.405,0.298 and 0.878.Compared with group 1982-1995,the group 1996-2005 and group 2006-2015 showed the sensitivity and PPV of TTE versus golden standard autopsy findings for diagnosing left cardiac valve calcification in the elderly were increased while the specificity,PLR,NLR and NPV were decreased.Compared with group 60-75,the group 76-90 and group 91-106 showed that the sensitivity and PPV of TTE versus golden standard autopsy findings for diagnosing left cardiac valve calcification were increased,while the specificity and diagnostic coincidence rate were decreased.The sensitivity,specificity,diagnostic coincidence rate,PLR,NLR,PPV,NPV of TTE versus golden standard autopsy findings for the diagnosis of aortic valve calcification and mitral valve calcification in the elderly were 88.2％ and 44.0％,30.8％ and 75.3％,42.7％ and 71.5％,1.275 and 1.780,0.382 and 0.744,0.250 and 0.198,0.909 and 0.906,respectively.Conclusions TTE provides high sensitivity for diagnosing left cardiac valve calcification in the elderly,especially for diagnosing the aortic valve calcification,but the specificity is not satisfactory.
