Aim To investigate the neuroprotective effect of acteoside against rotenone-induced cell damage in SH-SY5Y cells and the effect of acteoside on the expression of Parkinson disease (PD)-related proteins Parkin and ?-Synuclein(?-Syn), and to discover the underlying molecular mechanism of neuroprotection by acteoside. Methods The activity of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) was measured by spectroscopy. Expressions of Parkin and ?-Syn were studied using Western blot analysis, and the distribution of ?-Syn was analyzed using immunofluorescence technique. Results ① Acteoside (10, 20 or 40 mg?L-1) pretreatment for 6 h markedly reduced the release of LDH induced by 0.5 ?mol ?L-1 rotenone; ② Treatment with 0.5 ?mol?L-1 rotenone for 48 h led to significant Parkin cleavage and increased formation of ?-Syn protein dimer; ③ Pretreatment of SH-SY5Y cells with acteoside (10, 20 or 40 mg?L-1) for 6 h markedly reduced the cleavage of Parkin induced by 0.5 ?mol?L-1 rotenone in a concentration-dependent manner, inhibited the aggregation of ?-Syn and decreased ?-Syn-positive SH-SY5Y cells. Conclusion These findings suggest that pretreatment of acteoside has a potent neuroprotective effect against rotenone-induced SH-SY5Y cells damage and its mechanism might involve in reducing the cleavage of Parkin and inhibitng ?-Syn expression induced by rotenone.

Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of the Yiling-Qutan Decoction on treating Sub-health and the mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine.Methods 219 cases of Sub-health and belonging to dampness-phlegm syndrome and were collected and treated with Yiling-Qutan Decoction for 1 month.The effective rate of syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine and state of Sub-health,syndrome score of traditional Chinese medicine and sub-health status score were observed.Results The effective rate of syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine:7 patients were cured,35 cases were significantly effective,171 cases were effective and 6 cases were unfruitful.The improvement of syndrome score of and Sub-health status were also significantly better (P＜0.01).Conclusion It was effective to treat sub-health with Yiling-Qutan Decoction.

Objective: To study the effect of early rehabilitation on motor function of upper and lower extremities and activities of daily living(ADL) in patients with hemiplegia after stroke; and to observe whether motor function recovery of upper and lower extremities is different. Method: 96 patients were randomly divided into two groups, rehabilitation group (48 cases) and control group(48 cases). Prospective method was used in this study. Patients in the rehabilitation group were given clinical treatment and regular rehabilitation training, while those in control group were given clinical treatment and unguided self- training. The evaluation was done in pre- treatment and post- treatment(6- 8 weeks) respectively.Motor function was assessed in Fugl-Meyer assessment(FMA), ADL assessed in Barthel Index. Result: The motor scores (measured by FMA) and ADL scores (measured by Barthel index) in the two groups were improved after 6-8 weeks treatment, but there was a significant difference between the two groups, the scores in the rehabilitation group were obviously superior to those in the control group (P ＜ 0.01 ). The mean of the Fugl-Meyer Scale (transferred to percentage of maximal motor scores) of the lower extremities was higher than that of the upper extremities pre-and post-treatment (P＜0.01). However, the improvement degree of FMA scores between upper and lower extremity had no statistical difference (P＞0.05). Conclusion:Early rehabilitation training of the patients with stroke hemiplegia may obviously improve motor function of the limbs and raise ADL scores. However, the degree of improvement in upper and lower extremity is similar in the first two months after early training.

Objective To explore the value of total grastrectomy in gastric cardia and fundus carcinoma. Methods 118 cases with cardiac cancer were treated by surgical treatment, those patients were admitted between May 1998 and May 2007 in Affiliated Baiyin Hospital of Lanzhou University. Of them,65 cases were treated by total gastractomy (group A),and 53 cases were treated by proximal gastractomy (group B). The degree of invasion, lymph node dissection, postoperative complication rate and survival rate were compared. Results The average num-ber of lymph node were 19.4±3.9 and 15.2±2.6 (P<0.05), respectively. The occurrence of lymph node metasta-sis were 40.8% (514/1261) and 54.8% (441/806),respectively. Of them, the occurrence of metastasis of lymph node of No. 5、No. 6 in group A were 15.4% (10/65)and 12.3% (8/65),respectively. The postoperative complica-tion rate were 7.7% (5/65) and 13.2% (7/53). The 1,3, and 5 year survival rates were 63.1%,46.2%,30.8% in group A and 66.0%,36.9%, 18.5% in group B, with significant differences beteen two groups in 3, 5 year sur-vival rates(P<0.05). Conclusion The way of total grastrectomy is better in cleaning lymph node than that of proximal gastrectomy, and dosen't increase the postoperative complication rate but improves 3-year and 5-year sur-vival rates in cases with cardiac cancer of Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ stage.

Objective To investigate the effects of Donglian Capsule(the combination of Ophiopogonis Tuber Polysaccharide with Rhizoma Coptidis Alkaloids, OPRA for short, Component of Chinese medicine)on early insulin resistance in experimental diabetic rats. Methods The animal model of insulin resistance in 2 type diabetic was established by injecting low dose of STZ in 60 high fat-fed SD rats. After one week, the successful models were randomly divided into 4 groups: untreated, high and low OPRA-treated, mefformin-treated group, Meanwhile, a normal control group was designed. After four weeks, the differences of FBG, PG, INS and C-P were compared among the groups. Results The OPRA can significantly reduced the level of serum TC and FBG, increased the C-E ]Lightened the IRI(P<0.01). Conclusion The OPRA can reduce the level of serum TG and FBG, and decrease insulin resistance to protect the β-cell function.

Objective To observe the effect of Donglian capsule on nonenzymadc protein glycation.Methods An animal model of DM was established by injecting a little dosage of STZ in high fat-fed rats.When the models were established successfully,corresponding medicines were supplied for 12 weeks and then the blood glucose,glycosylation serum protein(GSP)and aldose reductase(AR)in rats semm were measured.Results Comparing with the model group,the levels of blood glucose,GSP and AR in Metformin Hydrochloride tablets group and Chinese medicine group were decreased markedly (P＜0.05).Conclusion Donglian capsule Can restrain nonenzymatic protein glycation and so thus prevent and treat DM.

In order to observe clinical therapeutic effect of Shen Ma Yi Zhi Capsule on senile vascular dementia (VD), 68 cases of VD were randomly divided into the treatment group treated with Shen Ma Yi Zhi Capsule and the control group treated with Western medicine Trigogine, and double blind and double simulation methods were adopted for administration of drugs. Results indicated that Shen Ma Yi Zhi Capsule could obviously improve clinical symptoms, increase cumulative score of intelligence rating scale, improve memory and gnosia function, restore nervous function improve daily living capability, indexes of blood rheology and cerebral function. The treatment group in improvement of symptoms was superior to the control group. It is suggested that Shen Ma Yi Zhi Capsule has definite therapeutic effect for senile VD, with no adverse effect.

A melanoma is a highly malignant tumor that originates from melanocytes in the skin, mucosa, or tunica pigmentosa. The incidence and mortality rate of cutaneous melanoma are increasing annually. However, the efficacy of traditional therapy is extremely limited because of its low sensitivity and high toxicity. The application of the anti-CTLA-4 antibody and the BRAF inhibitor dramatically improves the overall survival of patients with advanced melanoma. However, their limited benefit ratio and high drug resistance curtail the use of anti-CTLA-4. Since the US Food and Drug Administration approved the use of the anti-PD-1 and anti-PD-L1 antibodies for ad-vanced melanoma in 2014, a significant survival benefit has been observed in patients with advanced melanoma. This review aims to highlight the applications of the anti-PD-1 antibody (pembrolizumab, nivolumab, and pidilizumab) and the anti-PD-L1 antibody (MP-DL3280A, BMS-936559, and MEDI4736) in the clinical treatment of melanoma by succinctly summarizing the results of recent reports.
