1.The value of sonographic imaging in the early diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 2003;283(4):28-34
The sectional-cross study was conducted from Jan 1999 to Nov 2000 on 120 subjects suspected to have ectopic pregnancy. Subjects underwent a serum betahCG quantification, an uktrasonic examination with vaginal detector and a laparoscopy to diagnose early. Results showed that 100/120 subjects (83.33%) had ectopic pregnancy, 20/100 (16.67%) had not. At the threshold of beta hCG 700 mUI/ml, in the uterin there is not fetus beg, diagnosis value with a sensitivity of 93% and a prognosis value of 87.7% with positive value of 87.7%. Annex with a masse isolated to ovary accupied the rate of 72% and its sensitivity and prognosis value of 87.7%. If beta hCG serum level 700 mUI/ml, ultrasonographic immage doesn’t detected intrauterin ammnion bag, aring-shape masse was detected in the annex, isolated to ovary, thus early diagnostic value of ectopic pregnancy with a sensitivity of 80% and prognostic value of 93%

2.The indication of false fetal abortment for ectopic pregnant women
Journal of Practical Medicine 2003;425(5):24-26
A retrospective cross sectional survey on 509 cases of ectopic pregnancy in National Institute of Protection of Mothers and Newborns in the year 2000 showed the rate of fetal abortment reached 23.6%. In 58% of cases of ectopic pregnancy the related factor is a history of abortment. In addition, some other factors are associated including the previous annexitis, surgery of perineum, genital tuberculosis is… Therefore an ultrasonic diagnosis for the site of the fetus before the indication of abortment and safe procedure of abortment are necessary

3.Analytical assessment of prognostic factors according to US Institute of Cancer in monitoring the treatment of 292 subjects of mast blastocytoma in pregnancy with the threshold of beta-HCG < 5 UI/l
Journal of Practical Medicine 2003;425(5):29-32
292 patients with mast blastocytoma who were diagnosed after hydatiform pregnancy, after birth and post pregnancy basing on the examinations of beta-HCG, of matastasis and of anapathology, treated till beta HCG < 5 UI/l. According to US classification, the age of the group 1 (non metastasis ligh mast blastocytoma) is younger than group 2 (metastasis severe mast blastocytoma) and in the group 2 the duration from termination of pregnancy to detection of the condition is longer than group 1. In the group of mast blastocytoma of severe prognosis there are an uterus damage of chorion carcinoma, an invasive hydatiform pregnancy. The simple resistance to chemiotherapy is more dramatical in the group 2 than the group 1

4.Incidence of pregnant diabetes and investigation for related factors
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):5-7
Incidence of pregnant diabetes ranges from 1 to 14%, depending on region, race and diagnostic criteria. Studying on 196 pregnant women who were given antenatal care at Ha Noi Obstetric Gynecological Hospital provided some findings as follow: the incidence of pregnant diabetes in studied population was 3.6% when using diagnostic criteria of the National Diabetes Data Group (NDDG) 1979; the incidence of NDNG was 4.1%. The overall incidence for diabetes and GDNG was 7.65% and is was increased further by 2% when applying new diagnostic criteria of Counstan and Carpenter 1982. The incidence was increased in pregnant women who had some risk factors such as history of diabetes in family, obese (BMI was 25 or more), urinary glucose (+) and older age of pregnant woman.

5.Some biochemical changes in pregnant toxicosis
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 1999;(12):39-36
104 pregnant women were divided into 2 groups (group 1: 52 of healthy pregnant women, group 2: 52 of women with pregnant toxicosis) were tested for some biochemical indicators. The results have shown that the blood total proteins in pregnant women of group 2 were reduced significantly when compared with this in group 1. The serum uric acid in group 2 was highly increased although there was no clinical manifestation of nephritis. There were no differences of uremia, creatinemia, SGPT between pregnant women in group 1 and pregnant toxicosis women in the mild and mordirate grade. These biochemical indicators helped both for diagnosis and prognosis.

7.Ovulatory induction on anovulatory women with clomiphene citrate (CC)
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2003;9():33-35
The study included 715 anovulatory women on 1065 cycle's therapy with 3 preparations of CC: Clomid, Ovofar and Serophene. The result of ovulatory induction was approximately 50%, of clinical pregnancy was 30%. Ovofar give the clinical pregnancy a little higher (47%) of the total cycle therapy, so the loss of pregnancy (missed abortion + still abortion + GEU) is higher so (31% od the total pregnancy), in comparison with Ovofar (25%), and with Serophene (12%).
The authors intend to investigate the new Clomid on the other group of women anovulatory infertility

8.Issues And Challenges In The Management Of Methamphetamine Dependence In Pregnancy
Malaysian Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences 2015;11(1):89-92
Failure in achieving abstinence in methamphetamine dependence population is a common scenario.
The use of methamphetamine in pregnancy however, was not so often brought to attention. This report
highlights the challenges and issues encountered in the management of a pregnant lady with the problem
of methamphetamine dependence, who presented with psychosis. Among the areas outlined were issues
in commencing treatment for methamphetamine psychosis, presence of psychosocial conditions that
impeded total abstinence and the risks of methamphetamine use during pregnancy.

9.Uncomplicated hyperemesis gravidarum does not alter the course of cardiovascular changes during pregnancy
Sheila Rani Kovil George ; Sivalingam Nalliah
International e-Journal of Science, Medicine and Education 2014;8(1):34-43
The purpose of this prospective longitudinal
study was to investigate the maternal cardiac
haemodynamic and structural changes that occur
in pregnancies with uncomplicated hyperemesis
gravidarum in a selected Malaysian population. Nine
women underwent serial echocardiography beginning
at 12 weeks of gestation and throughout pregnancy
at monthly intervals. Their echocardiograms were
repeated at 6 and 12 weeks following delivery to reflect
the pre-pregnancy haemodynamic state. Cardiac output
was measured by continuous wave Doppler at the aortic
valve. Interventricular septum thickness was determined
by M- mode echocardiography and ventricular diastolic
function by assessing flow at the mitral valve with
Doppler recording. Cardiac output showed an increase
of 32.9% at 36 weeks and maintained till 40 weeks of
gestation. Heart rate increased from 79 ± 6 to 96 ± 8 beats/
min at 36 weeks. Stroke volume increased by 16.4 % at
40 weeks of gestation when compared to the baseline
value. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure did not
appreciably change but showed a lower reading during
the mid-trimester period. Early inflow velocity of left
ventricle did not show a rise while peak atrial velocity
showed an increasing trend; thus the ratio of early inflow
to peak atrial transport showed a declining trend from
early pregnancy to term. End diastolic dimension of left
ventricle and interventricular septum thickness showed
an increased value at term. Uncomplicated hyperemesis
gravidarum did not alter the haemodynamic changes
throughout pregnancy and concur with established data
for normal pregnancy.

10.Renal Angiomyolipoma During Pregnancy: What Can We Offer?
Lim PS ; Ng BK ; Rozman Z ; Nirmala K ; Shuhaila A ; Omar MH
Journal of Surgical Academia 2015;5(2):62-65
Renal angiomyolipoma is a rare disease seen during pregnancy. Rupture of renal angiomyolipoma could be
catastrophic and might result in maternal and even perinatal mortality. Management includes conservative vs surgical
approach. A 29-year-old woman Para 2 with history of bleeding renal angiomyolipoma in her first pregnancy at 11
weeks treated with selective arterial embolisation. The pregnancy was terminated. Even though having small residual
tumour, her subsequent pregnancy progressed well with conservative management. Intervention is advisable in the
presence of large or symptomatic renal angiomyolipoma prior to pregnancy in order to minimise potential lifethreatening
haemorrhage during pregnancy. For those with small tumour of less than 4cm, perhaps conservative
approaches i.e. frequent follow-up and close monitoring would assist in early identification of any rupture or
bleeding.
