2.Effect of green tea extract on lipid peroxydation and aortic atherosclerosis in cholesterol-fed rabbits
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 2003;285(6):50-57
Green tea is one of the most widely consumed beverages in Vietnam. Polyphenol in green tea possess biological effects such as antitumoral, anticarciogenic, anti-inflammatory and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by increasing the plasma antioxidative capacity in human. Lipid peroxidation and oxidative modification of low-density lipoprotein have been implicated in human atherosclersis. Green tea extract with doses of 100 mg, 150 mg/kg body weight/day reduced levels of MDA plasma and injury of aortic atherosclerosis

Lepidium meyenii(maca)was a herbaceous plant of the family Cruciferae. It is native to the andes region of South America where the local people had been growing and consuming maca for centuries. The unique chemical composition and physiological function of maca were widely concerned worldwide. It was introduced to China in 2002, and were cultivated successfully in Yunnan, Tibet, Sichuan, Jilin and other places with a certain size. Maca contained not only rich nutrition such as protein, vitamin and mineral matter, but also lots of secondary metabolites as maca alkaloids, glucosinolates, volatile oils, sterols polyphenols and macaenes. Numerous studies suggested that maca may serve effects in resisting oxidation, fatigue resistance, raising fertility, regulating endocrine, enhancing immunity, tumour suppression, treating osteoporosis, regulate blood sugar and protection of nervous system. Maca was approved by the Ministry of Health as a new resource food in 2011, and its related products include food, health foods, cosmetics, etc. Certain exploratory researches were carried to take better advantage of maca's medicinal value. This paper briefly reviewed the research and application progress of maca in recent years from the aspects of botany, chemical composition, function, resources situation and related products development, which was supposed to provide reference for scientific research and utilization of maca.

As a traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese dragon's blood has multiple effects, such as activating blood to remove blood stasis, softening and dispelling stagnation, astringent and hemostasis, clearing swelling and relieving pain, regulating menstruation and rectifying the blood, so it is called "an effective medicine of promoting blood circulation". It has been widely used clinically to treat a variety of diseases. With the further research on Chinese dragon's blood, its anti-tumor medicinal value is gradually emerging. Modern pharmacological studies have shown that Chinese dragon's blood exerts anti-tumor effects mainly by inhibiting cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis, inducing DNA damage and cell cycle arrest, inducing senescence and autophagy of tumor cells, inhibiting metastasis and angiogenesis, as well as reversing multidrug resistance. This article focuses on the research progress on anti-tumor effects of Chinese dragon's blood extract and its chemical components, with a view to provide new references for the in-depth research and reasonable utilization of Chinese dragon's blood.

5.The effect of neiguan (PC6) electro acupuncture (EA) on some blood circulation parameters
Journal of Medical Research 2003;24(4):35-40
40 healthy male students aged 19-24 were selected randomly to study the influences of electric acupuncture in PC6 (Noi Quan point) on blood circular indicators 30 minutes before and after the puncture, and alone 1 8 day period of treatment (30minutes each day). 20 of these subjects were selected as control subject underwent an out of point acupuncture. Circular indicators include heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressures, ECG (time and altitude of P, QRS waves, T; time of PR, QT and TP intervals). Results showed that PC6 puncture reduced dramatically heart rate, systolic pressure 30 minutes after the procedure and after 8 day period of treatment. On ECG, the QT and TP time prolonged after this period. These changes of indicators were not detected on control group (without of point acupuncture).

Journal of Practical Medicine 2003;463(10):34-36
Study on acute and subchronic toxicity of CP preparation (extracted from Cu Binh Voi) finding using CP preparation with 1000mg/kg mouse of dose, follow in 72 hours, not any mice died. With 30mg/kg mouse uninterrupted take in 30 days, CP preparation didn’t effect to making blood function (but reduced number of leukocyte). It exchanged effect of eliminate urea thourgh renal. It not exchanged tranxaminaza level in serum but slightly effect to sterilize function of rabit
