1.Screening and treatment of retinopathy of prematurity: current status, problems and prospects in China
Chinese Journal of Ocular Fundus Diseases 2012;28(1):3-7
Early detection and timely treatment hold the key to cure retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).ROP screening is carried out unevenly in China.Examination equipments and personnel experiences are the major factors to constraint ROP screening. In addition to strengthening personnel training,it is necessary to establish a standard guideline and pipeline for ROP consultation and referral. Laser photocoagulation and cryotherapy are the first options for the threshold ROP and Type 1 pre-threshold ROP.Scleral buckling or vitrectomy is needed for advanced ROP when retinal detachment occurs. The clinical efficacy of intravitreal injection of bevacizumab (an anti-vascular endothelial growth factor monoclonal antibody) for severe ROP is encouraging, but needs further verification.Genetic interference and stem cell therapy will be the prosperous futures in the treatment of ROP.The screening and treatment of ROP in China is becoming more common and improved, but it is still a long way to go considering the huge population of China.
2.Research progress in the effect of endoplasmic reticulum stress on age-related macular degeneration
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2012;(11):1052-1056
The endoplasmic reticulum is a major organelle of mammalian cells in where protein processing takes place.Excessive endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) induced by various factors may lead to cellular structural abnormality and functional dysfunction, even cell death.Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)is caused by multifactors and is a common cause of blindness.Inducers of ERS,such as oxidative stress, inflammation and disorder of fat metabolism, have been found to play critical role in AMD.These factors promote the excess expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)in retinal pigment epithelium (RPE),which is the key factor that triggers the conversion from dry AMD to wet form. This article mainly summarized the primary process and mechanism of ERS as well as interactions among oxidative stress, inflammation and ERS in AMD pathogenesis.

Objective To study the effects of the expression of hypoxia inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1?) induced by FasL on the invasiveness of rectal cancer cells. Methods With molecular cloning method, eukaryotic expression vectors of pcDNA3.1 FasL containing total length of FasL cDNA sequence were transfected into human rectal cancer cells HR-8348. The cell invasiveness was examined. A hypoxia model of HR-8348 was reproduced, and its invasiveness was assessed with transwell methodology. Expression of HIF-1? was assayed by Western bloting. Results The number of HR-8348 cells transfected with FasL penetrated transwell filter membrane was larger (12.930?2.434) than that of empty vector transfected cells (7.670?2.093) and control cells (8.133?1.959) with statistically significant differences (P0.05), but it was significantly higher in FasL positive HR-8348 cells than in FasL negative cells at 12h and 24h after hypoxia (P0.05). Conclusions FasL is an effective factor inducing HIF-1? expression, and FasL expression correlates positively with HIF-1? expression. Enhanced FasL expression in rectal cancer cells could induce higher expression of HIF-1?, enable the tumor cells to adapt to hypoxia environment, and enhance the invasiveness of tumor cells.

Objective To analyse and solve the difficulties and countermeasures in continuously proving medical gas. Methods Aiming at the difficulties of continuously proving medical gas, oxygen produced are mostly canned by oxygen compressor, and are transported to every function module through connecting oxygen jars. Results Medical gas module was taken into full play to meet reasonable demand for continuously providing oxygen. Conclusion It is suitable for other field module hospital to use for reference in the action of medical succor of disaster.

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1986;0(02):-
Objective To study the influence of colon hydrotherapy on premature infants with jaundice. Methods Based on intravenously infusing yinzhihuang and albumin and enzyme inducer, the warmed normal saline was poured into colon by 10 mL/kg per 8 hours in 40 preterm infants, and compared with 44 cases of control group.Serum bilirubin of all patients were measured at 24,72,120,168,216 hours, respectively. The days of meconiumbeing eliminated completely were recorded. Results The bilirubinemia level in trial group were lower in trial group than that in control group at every time and the rate of hyperbilirubinemia of the test group was lower(?~2=4.073 P
8.Endothelial dysfunction with Alzheimer's disease
Chinese Journal of Neurology 2000;0(05):-
Objective To explore the relation between endothelial function and Alzheimer′s disease(AD).Methods The concentration of asymmetric dimethylarginine(ADMA)and L-arginine were measured by high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC),the concentration of nitric oxide(NO) detected by the method of nitrate reductase, and the activity of nitric oxide synthase(NOS)examined using NOS assay kits,in the plasma of 45 mild/moderate AD patients and 48 controls. Results Compared with controls, the concentration of ADMA(0.95?0.09?mol/L,P=0.00)was significantly increased, however the activity of NOS((13.9?3.9)U/L,P=0.00),inducible NOS(iNOS)((5.1?1.8)U/L,P= 0.00)and concentration of NO((41.7?5.0)?mol/L,P=0.00)were significantly decreased. In addition,Logistic regression analysis found significant positive correlations between the plasma concentration of NO and the score of the CDR(y=36.64?0.398_x;r=0.398,P

Journal of China Pharmaceutical University 2009;40(6):514-518
Aim: To improve the solubility, dissolution and bioavailability of lycopene by preparing lycopene solid dispersion. Methods: Lycopene solid dispersion was prepared by the solvent method using Poloxamer 188 as car-rier. The physicochemical characteristics of the dispersion were determined by DSC, ultraviolet-visible spectra and the Dissolution Apparatus Ⅱ( Paddle). The oral bioavailability of lycopene was estimated in rat after oral dosing of lycopene solid dispersion or oil preparation. The plasma concentrations of lycopene in rats were determined by HPLC. The pharmacokinetic parameters were estimated by Kinetica software package. Results: In vitro dissolution of lycopene solid dispersion was greater than those of lycopene (raw material), and the physical mixture of lyco-pene and Poloxamer 188, partly due to the existing molecular state of lycopene in the dispersion. It was also found that the relative bioavailability of lycopene solid dispersion to lycopene oil preparation was (312. 2±96. 9) % . The optimal ratio of lycopene to carrier in the dispersion was about 1: 5. Conclusion: Lycopene-Poloxamer 188 solid dispersion could be prepared by the proposed simple, low-costly procedure resulting in improved bioavail-ability of lycopene, which is worthy of further development.

Journal of Third Military Medical University 1988;0(06):-
Objective To compare the clinical pathological characteristics in young and old patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) and investigate their relationship with prognosis. Methods A retrospective review was made in 68 CRC patients less than 35 years old and 322 CRC patients older than 65 treated in our hospital from July 1993 to July 2003. Their clinical manifestation, pathological feature, Dukes staging, misdiagnosis rate and results of following-up were compared. Results The main manifestation in young group was abdominal pain (69.1%), but in old group was hemafecia or mucous bloody stools (53.7%). The ratio of poorly differentiated neoplasm was obviously higher in young group (48.5%) than in old group (20.5%) (P
