1.Exploring ‘ EGP + ESP' model of English curriculum in medical academies

English curriculum development has been a focus of English teaching in the medical universities in China.Under the background of cultivation of international medical talents,this thesis analyzed the current situation and major problems in this field,and put forward EGP + ESP model in English curriculum development,proposed to provide systematic and continuous English education for the medical students through the combination of public English and Medical English.
2.THE FORMATION OF THE SYMPATHETIC TRUNKS AND THEIR COMMUNICATING RAMI WITH RELATION TO THE LUMBAR SPINAL NERVES IN MAN

Eighty-two dissections of the lumbar sympathetic chain on 41 cadavers of Chineseadults were studied. It was found that the number of ganglia varies from 2--6. Themost common number is three ganglia, which was found in 38 dissections (46. 3%), thenext common number is four ganglia, present in 22 dissections (26. 8%). The symmetrical arrangement of the ganglia on both sides is uncommon. The loca-tion of the lumbar sympathetic ganglia with their associated vertebral bodies is also ofimportance. They usually overlie the vertebral bodies of the same number. A ganglionis present more frequently at the level of the body of the fifth lumbar vertebra than atany other vertebra. This was found in 69 out of 82 dissections. Variations in the number of ganglia may be accounted for by the fusion of two ormore ganglia into one large ganglion and the latter is connected with multiple spinalnerves. The fused ganglia found on both sides were 28 (10.2%), among which the fusionof GL_2 and GL_3 is most common. The direction of the communicating rami of individual ganglion varies greatly; theymay run either cranially, caudally or transversely. Therefore, the identification of anindividual ganglion by the direction of its rami is unreliable. The number of rami ofeach ganglion varies from zero to six, most of them having two rami. This was foundin 82 out of 248 ganglia (33%). Each lumbar spinal nerve receives 1--5 commnunicatingbranches, the upper two nerves mostly have two rami and the lower three nerves haveone only.
3.The Reform of Follow-up English Teaching in Medical Academies

In this article, the author analyzed the present problems of English teaching in medical academies. Guided by the theory of language cognition and second language acquisition, the author pointed out that the cultivation of students' ability of individual study should be intensified and the development in "language intelligence" should be weighted due to its important role in solving the present problems. According to the teaching practice and relevant investigations the author offered some suggestions on contents of the courses, curriculum design and choice of textbooks.
4.Application of the cervical fusion cage of high molecular weight polyethylene in goats

BACKGROUND: Titanium cage of cervical vertebral fusion is often used during a surgical operation for cervical syndrome; however, it has a bad impact on the operative effect because of submerging.OBJECTIVE: To observe the biocompatibility and stability of cervical fusion cage of high molecular polyethylene in animals.DESIGN: A randomized grouping and observational control experiment.SETTING: The Animal Experimental Center of Zhengzhou University.MATERIALS: Twenty female goats without pregnancy at 1.1-1.6 years of age.METHODS: The experiment was conducted at the Animal Experimental Center of Zhengzhou University between June and November 2001. Twenty goats were equally randomized into experimental group and control group.Self-made cervical fusion cage filled with autogenous spongy bone was implanted into the goats in the experimental group, only autogenous iliac bone was implanted in the control group. X-ray for observing the changes in the height of intervertebral space was performed in two groups 6 weeks later. All the animals were killed under anesthesia to extract cervical vertebra samples, which were placed on YJ-14 Biomechanical Tester to measure anti-compression ability and height of intervertebral space and to observe pathological changes.space: Compression loading in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group [(358.64±15.63),(268.82±11.36)N,P < 0.05]; however, there was no difference in the height of interverteA great amount of osteoblasts were found in the tissues around the cage in the experimental group, but there was no difference between the two groups.CONCLUSION: The self-designed cervical vertebral fusion cage possesses high upholding strength, good biocompatibility and stability and can play a role in stabilizing the height of intervertebral space.
5.Research on velocity difference between specifications and categories of liquid with pressure infusion

To explore the velocity difference between specifications and categories of liquid with the same pressure infusion bag in order to widen the specification range of the liquid for pressure infusion. Pressure infu-sion experiments were performed with three specifications of normal saline of 100, 250 and 500 ml to compare the veloci-ties of different specifications of liquid, and with 500 ml normal saline, (5%, 10% and 50%) glucose injection, 5% glu-cose and sodium chloride injection, 5% sodium bicarbonate injection, 10% fructose injection, 706 plasma substitute, 20%mannitol injection and etc to make clear the velocities of different categories of liquid. With the same pressure, there were no significant differences between the velocities of three specifications of liquid, and between those of cate-gories of liquid with the same specification and concentration; the difference was significant between the same category of liquid with different concentrations, and the velocity showed a negative correlation with the concentration. The pressure infusion bag is compatible with 100, 250 and 500 ml liquid, and the velocity may be constant in case some specification of liquid is replaced by another one. The velocity has to be regulated in case the concentration or category of the liquid changes, when the pressure infusion is performed.
6.Pioglitazone pretreatment for acute necrotizing pancreatitis in rats

Objective To investigate the effect of pretreatment of pioglitazone on acute necrotizing pancreatitis (ANP) rats. Methods ANP was induced by retrograde injection of 5% sedinm deoxycholate into bilio-pancreatic ducts. The animals were randomly divided into ANP (n=18), sham operation (n=18) and pioglitazone pretreatment group (n=18). Pioglitazone was given 20 mg/kg in pioglitazone group before ANP was induced. The rats were sacrificed 3 h, 6 h, 12 h after ANP induction, respectively. Bblood samples were taken for serum amylase measurement. Tissue samples of pancreas were harvested for morphological observation under conventional light microscopy. Pathological change of pancreas was evaluated by Hughes and Kusske score system. Results The concentration of serum amylase and the pancreatic histological score in pioglitazone and ANP groups were significantly higher than those in sham operation group (P<0.001 ). The concentration of serum amylase, Hughes and Kusske score in pioglitazone group at 12 h after ANP induction were (2980± 1080) U/L,4.50±2.07 and 7.50±1.05, respectively, and were lower than (7598±1072) U/L, 7.17±1.47 and 11.33±1.75 of ANP group at 12 h (P<0.01). Conclusions Pioglitazone pretreatment could decrease the serum level of amylase and the pancreatic histological score. Pioglitazone may ameliorate the severity of ANP.
7.Clinical value of microvascular anastomotic devices in repairing oral carcinoma defects by anterolateral thigh flap

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of microvascular anastomotic devices in free anterolateral thigh flap in the recon-struction of oral carcinoma defects.Methods From September 2013 to September 2014,52 patients with oral cancer were treated by func-tional neck cleaning,primary tumors resection,and free anterolateral thigh flap in the reconstruction.Of which 27 patients received free of femoral anterolateral flap to repair veins by using microsurgical line end to end anastomosis.And 25 pieces of microvascular anastomotic ad-vices were applied in 25 patients with oral carcinoma defects.The length of anastomosis time,flap survival rate,and complications were recor-ded.Results In 52 patients,microvascular anastomotic devices were applied in 25 veins with shorter anastomosis time,(6.3 ±1.9)min vs. (12.3 ±1.4)min,and the difference was significant(P =0.001).The flap survival rate and vascular anastomosis patency rate was 100%.No intra-and post-operative complications such as blood leak,stapling,excessive tension and tear,thrombosis in flap vein crisis associated with microvascular anastomotic devices were observed.Twenty-seven patients with 40 root vein received manual microsurgical anastomosis,2 of them showed vein crisis.Conclusion The microvascular anastomotic devices used in repairing the soft tissue defects by anterolateral thigh flap with venous anastomosis for patients of oral cancer after surgery has the advantage of higher quality,shorter time and less complications.
8.Effects of Bushen Huoxue Recipe combined with neural stem cell transplantation in rats with tinnitus

BACKGROUND:Neural stem cel s have multi-directional differentiation potential, self-sustaining and self-renewal capacity as wel as have strong migration ability. Bushen Huoxue Recipe can reduce neuronal damage and promote nerve cel regeneration, to achieve neural function reconstruction. Underlying mechanisms of Bushen Huoxue Recipe combined with neural stem cel transplantation in rats with tinnitus induced by sodium salicylate are yet unclear. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of Bushen Huoxue Recipe combined with neural stem cel transplantation in rats with tinnitus induced by sodium salicylate. METHODS:Sixty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into five groups (n=12):normal control group, tinnitus model group, Bushen Huoxue Recipe group, stem cel group and combined treatment group (Bushen Huoxue Recipe combined with neural stem cel transplantation). Animal models of tinnitus induced by sodium salicylate were made in al the groups except for the normal control group. Fifteen days after modeling, rats were given intragastric administration of Bushen Huoxue Recipe water decoction (3 mL, 2.592 g/mL) for consecutive 7 days in the Bushen Huoxue Recipe group, intravenous injection of neural stem cel s (1 mL, 1.0×109/L) in the stem cel group, or their combined treatment in the combined treatment group. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Bushen Huoxue Recipe, neural stem cel transplantation and their combination al could effectively promote the recovery of drinking water inhibitory rate that was ranked as fol ows:combined treatment group
9.Inhibited autophagy enhance metformin induced apoptosis in oral squamous cell carcinoma

Objective To study the effects of metformin on proliferation and apoptosis of oral squamous cells so as to create a new path for the treatment of oral carcinoma.Methods CAL27 cells were treated with different dosage of metformin(5,10,20 mmol/L)for 24,48, and 72 hours.The number of apoptosis was detected by flow cytometry and TUNEL.The autophagic vacuole was detected by immunofluores-cence.The expression of hallmark of apoptosis and autophagy was detected by Western blot.Results Metformin could induce apoptosis in CAL27 cells.The CL-PARP and Bcl-2 expression significantly increased.In line with the apoptosis,metformin can trigger autophagy in CAL27 cells.The expression of LC3,Beclin-1 and GFP-LC3 positive autophagosomes were increased by metformin.Metformin inhibit the expression of STAT3 and mTOR signaling pathways at the same time might be the possible reasons of the autophagy.And inhibited autophagy could en-hance metformin induced Caspase-3 activity in CAL27 cells.Conclusion Inactivation of STAT3 and mTOR pathway contributes to metform-in-induced autophagy.Inhibited autophagy could enhance metformin induced apoptosis in oral squamous cell carcinoma.
10.Design of personal health information acquisition terminal system

Objective To acquire the physiological parameters such as pulse,blood oxygen saturation and ECG to realize personal health information monitoring and tailored medical service.Methods A personal health information acquisition terminal was developed,which was composed of an information acquisition module,personal computer and system software.The information acquisition module was developed with USB interface and unified circuit mode.Health information was transmitted to the personal computer at real time with USB interface,and then stored by system software and uploaded to the database.Results The terminal gained advantages in design,convenience and practicability,which realized realtime acquisition,data storage,remote auxiliary diagnosis,printing and etc of personal health information,so that personal information realtime monitoring was implemented.Concluslon The terminal can be used for health information recording,storage,acquisition and analysis,and extends medical service of hospital.
