1.Value of vaginal ultrasound in finding the endometrial cancer in the postmenopausal women with bleedin
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 1999;233(2):39-46
Diagnostic curettage has for many years been the method of choice to diagnose endometrial cancer in women with postmenopausal bleeding. In fact, approximately only 10% in this group of women will be diagnosed with endometrial cancer. This study used endometrial thickness as measured by endovaginal ultrasonography as an indicator of endometrial abnormality. The histopathologic diagnosis obtained at curettage is used as the gold standard. 74 women were included in this study. Endometrial cancer was not found with the endometrium= 5 mm thick. The mean endometrial thickness in those women with endometrial cancer was 13.72+/- 8.09 mm compared with 4.3 +/- 2.3 mm in those women with benign endometrium. If the cut off limit for endometrial cancer and hyperplasia was 5 mm, the sensitivity was 100% the specificity was 71.2%, the positive predictive value was 60%, the negative predictive value was 100% and the Kappa ratio was 0.6%. If this limit had been used in this study, 70% of the curettage procedures could have been avoided.

2.Some remarks on simultaneous endometrioid carcinoma of the endometrium and ovary
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 1999;232(1):114-117
Simultaneous endometrioid carcinoma of the endometrium and ovary was also called 'endometrioid systematic carcinoma'. This disease was not common with the rate of 5.2% of all endometrial carcinomas. This malignant epithelial neoplasm was presented with high differentiation (Grade 1), and it was often detected at early stages (0; 1A: 1B). Their common symptoms were abnormal metrorrhagia associating with ovarian cyst in young women having low parity. The determined diagnosis based on macroscopic and microscopic description, which could be a key significance in classification of this special lesion

3.Contribution to early diagnosis and effective treatment of bladder rupture due to the close abdominal trauma
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2001;11(4):7-11
Study on 69 patients with bladder rupture due to the abdominal trauma (male: 61; ages of 15-62) in Viet Duc hospital during 1993-1997 diagnosed and treated. The results have found that 39 patients diagnosed as bladder rupture and received emegency operation due to the shock and the intraabdominal bleeding. 20 patients diagnosed timely and 10 patients lately diagnosed within 2-9 days. The mortality rate was 17.4% and the complication rate was 56.5%.

4.Some results in study on Japanese peppermint SK-33
Pharmaceutical Journal 1998;272(12):10-11
This paper presents the study on Japanese mint SK-33 (M.arvensis L.) and its essential oil. After 3 years cultivated and observed this mint at CoNhue - TuLiem-Hanoi, we have some following notes: its essential oil content at full flowering stage is about 0.64-0.71% in fresh aerial part of plants, 1.38-1.55% in fresh leaves and flowers, 5.13-5.29% in absolute dry leaves and flowers. The chemical composition of this oil was analyzed by GC/MS, 32 constituents were identified. The main constituents are menthol (81.79%), menthone (7.86%), isomenthone (4.95%). Japanese mint SK-33 has rather high content of essential oil, good quality and can create a large quantity of underground stems. It is prospective new mint form for cultivation at large area in our country.

5.Stability of tetanus absorbed vaccine, produced at the Vaccine Institute (IVAC), Nha Trang
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2000;10(4):14-16
Samples of 22 batches of adsorbed tetanus toxoid, produced at IVAC between 1995 and 2000 were checked for their potency at 24, 36, 42, 48 and 60 months after production. The results showed that: the potency did not change after 42 months of storage at 4oC. From 48 months afterward the potency decreased.

Malposition tooth (etopic eruption tooth). Malposition tooth are abnormal eruption teeth in the jaw. It can be: transversion or not (labioversion and hard palate). There are many causes of large tooth and small jaw; supernumerary teeth; primary teeth exist too long; odontoma, cleft palate or cleft lip. Malposition tooth causes effect to function and esthetics

8.Simultaneous Determination of Berberine and Palmatine in “Huong Lien Hoan” by HPLC
Journal of Medicinal Materials - Hanoi 2003;8(2):45-49
Berberine and Palmatine were extracted from the powdered Huong Lien pills with a mixture of methanol and hydrochloric acid (100:1) and subjected to HPLC to simultaneously determine the alkaloids. The HPLC technique was carried out on a Lichrosorb RP-8 (10 m, 250x4 mm) column using a UV detector at =345 nm and a mixture of 3,4g potassium dihydrogen phosphate and 1,7g sodium lauryl sulfate dissolved in 1000 ml of water-acetonitrile (1:1) as a mobile phase. The experimental results proved that the proposed HPLC method was rapid, specific, accurate and precise.

9.Chemical Composition of French and Russian Spearmint Oils (Mentha spicata) Cultivated in Vietnam
Journal of Medicinal Materials - Hanoi 2003;8(5):136-139
French spearmint was imported into Vietnam in 1996 and cultivated in Ha Noi. In the first year, it was cultivated by seeds and since the second year it has been planted by stolons. Every year, planting is done in February – March and the crop reaches full blooming in June. The Russian cultivar is also cultivated in Sa Pa (Lao Cai province). Both samples of Mentha spicata essential oil were analyzed by GC/RI, GC/MS and 13C-NMR. In total, 39 compounds have been identified, 28 in the first sample, 31 in the second.

10.Studies on Pharmacological Effects of Crinum asiaticum L
Journal of Medicinal Materials - Hanoi 2003;8(5):149-152
The experiment was studied on the male, young and strong rats of the body weight of 80-100gr. Rats were divided into 3 groups, 9 rats in each group. Alcoholic extract and alkaloid fraction of the leaves of Crinum asiaticum L. were subjected to pharmacological studies. The results showed that:
1. LD50 of the alcoholic extract is 22.75 g/kg p.o. in mice on dry basis.
2. Subchronic anti-inflammatory effect of the alcoholic extract is stronger than that of the alkaloid fraction.
3. Both alcoholic extract and alkaloid fraction inhibit the prostatic hypertrophy induced experimentally by testosterone.
