Integrating visualization toolkit and the capability of interaction, bidirectional communication and graphics rendering which provided by HTML5, we explored and experimented on the feasibility of remote medical image reconstruction and interaction in pure Web. We prompted server-centric method which did not need to download the big medical data to local connections and avoided considering network transmission pressure and the three-dimensional (3D) rendering capability of client hardware. The method integrated remote medical image reconstruction and interaction into Web seamlessly, which was applicable to lower-end computers and mobile devices. Finally, we tested this method in the Internet and achieved real-time effects. This Web-based 3D reconstruction and interaction method, which crosses over internet terminals and performance limited devices, may be useful for remote medical assistant.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2013;30(6):1302-1308
This study was conducted to investigate the anti-tumor efficacy of nanosecond pulsed electric fields (nsPEFs) on the mouse with A375-GFP melanoma xenograft in vivo. In vivo fluorescence image analysis system was used in this study to evaluate the effects of nsPEFs on human melanoma A375 cell xenograft. On the Day 90 af ter pulse delivery, the skin that had contained A375 cell xenograft was surgically excised and pathologically evalua ted. The changes of scar were recorded by digital camera. The experiment revealed that significant changes in fluorescence value trend and amplitude were found in the treated group from those in the control group. The fluorescence of tumor in the treated group decreased mostly 48 h after the treatment and completely disappeared 10 d after the treatment, while that in control group was increased gradually. Surgical excision of the area confirmed a complete pathologic response. Within a few days after the nsPEFs treatment, a hard scab formed at the treatment region. The scab fell off by the end of the second week. As time went on, the scar gradually became faded and all xenograft tumors were disappeared without recurrence. From the experiment, we learn that nsPEFs can bring good therapeutic effect. It may provide a new approach for the clinical treatment of superficial tumors.

Purpose: To study the short-term efficacy and toxicity of the neoajuvant chemotherapy with epirubicin (EPI) plus paclitaxel( TAX) in treatment of patients with breast cancer. Methods: 20 patients with stage Ⅱ,Ⅲ breast cancer were treated with paclitaxel plus epirubicin (TE) for 2 - 4 cycles every 3 weeks, their clinical response and the toxicity were assessed after 2-4 cycles of neoajuvant chemotherapy, and they are compared with those of the patients treated with vinorelbine plus epirubicin( VE) as neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Patients in TE arm received epirubicin 60 mg/m2 by intravenous injection on d 1, paclitaxel 150 mg/m2 by 3-hour continuous infusion on d 2, 3 weeks was 1 cycle. Patients assigned to the VE arm received epirubicin 60 mg/m2 by intravenous injection on d 1, vinorelbine 30 mg/m by intravenous injection on d 1 and d 8, 4 weeks was 1 cycle. All patients were treated by modified radical operation after neoajuvant chemotherapy. Results: The overall response rate( RR) was 80% (16/20) both in TE arm and VE arm. There were 3(15%) clinical complete response( cCR) and 2(10%) pathologic complete response ( pCR) in every arm. No patient showed progressive disease. A higher proportion of RR and pCR was observed in patients with 4 cycles of neoajuvant chemotherapy than those with 2 cycles in the two groups. The major toxicity, including leukopenia, gastroenteric reaction, flushing of face and phlebitis, were similar in both groups, but fatigue, alopecia and neurotoxicity were more severe in VE arm than in TE arm(P
