1.Pathogenesis and treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia: current status
Journal of Leukemia & Lymphoma 2016;25(8):509-512
Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a malignant clonal proliferative disease, which originates from multifunctional hematopoietic stem cells of bone marrow.Imatinib is used as the first-line treatment for CML currently, owing to its obvious curative effect for patients in chronic phase and survival time prolonged significantly for patients in accelerated phase and blast crisis. With the long-term application of imatinib in clinic, the drug resistance and intolerance gradually appear, resulting in decreased long-term effects of CML.This paper will review the current status of the pathogenesis and treatment of CML.

5.Progress on the parameters of the healing of intestinal anastomoses
International Journal of Surgery 2008;35(3):199-202
Anastomotic leakage is a serious complication in colorectal surgery; The healing of intestine is still the hot spot of current research. Methods of estimating intestinal healing mainly include mechanical, biochemical, immunohistochemical and hitological Method. The estimating parameters mainly Comprise bursting pressure, breaking strength, the amount of collangen and matrix metalloproteinase(MMP),and the scale for histology. The measurement of collagen and MMP is the nost import ant index for estimating healing of intestinal anastomoses.Collagen is the most abundant extracellular matrix protein that determines the mechanical stability of the connective tissue during wound healing.Collagen degradation is usually the result of the synergistic action of several MMPs.
6.The healing ability of left and right colonic anastomoses in rats
Chinese Journal of General Surgery 2009;24(9):740-743
Objective To compare the healing ability differences between left colonic anastomosis and right colonic anastomosis in rats, in order to find a theoretical basis for the surgical management of colon resection. Methods Forty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into two groups: group A (end-to-end anastomosis of right colon, n=20), and group B (end-to-end anastomosis of left colon, n=20). Half of the rats in each group were sacrificed on the fourth day after operation, and the rest on the seventh day. The expressions of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1), MMP-13 and collagen type Ⅰ were shown by immunohistochemical staining, and the histopathologic changes at the anastomosis were also demonstrated. Results The expression of MMP-1, MMP-13 at left colonic anastomosis was higher than that of MMP-1, MMP-13 at right colonic anastomosis, the expression of collagen type Ⅰ was lower than that of collagen type Ⅰ at right colonic anastomosis on the fourth day (P<0.05); The expression of MMP-1 at left colonic anastomosis was higher than that of MMP-1 at right colonic anastomosis, the expression of collagen type Ⅰ was lower than that of collagen type Ⅰ at right colonic anastomosis on the seventh day (P<0.05). Conclusions The healing ability of right colonic anastomosis is higher than that of left colonic anastomosis.
7.Strive to improve the resection rate of pancreatic cancer
Chinese Journal of Digestive Surgery 2009;8(4):247-250
With the increasing incidence and high malignancy, pancreatic cancer is still expected to be treated by radical resection. However, because of the unique anatomical and biological features, such as rapid progression, early metas-tasis and direct invasion to the vessels, the resection rate of pan-creatic cancer is still at a lower level. The standard procedures of diagnosis and treatment, including early detection, preopera-tive resectability assessment, and judgement of the resection area based on the tumor staging, benefit the patients and significantly improve the prognosis.

9.Outcomes of microdiscectomy for treatment of recurrent lumbar disc herniation
Chinese Journal of Microsurgery 2009;32(1):9-11
Objective To evaluate the outcomes of microdiscectomy for treatment of recurrent lumbar disc hemiations. Methods There were 18 cases of recurrent lumbar disc berniations accepted microdiscectomy (reoperation group), compared with 30 cases of primary lumbar microdiscectomy (primary group). Operating time, blood loss and length of hospital stay were compared between two groups. MacNab criteria were used to evaluate the outcomes. Results Operating time was a mean of 75 min in reoperation group, 52 min in primary group. Blood loss of reoperation group was 70 ml, 50ml in primary group. Length of hospital stay was 8.5d in reoperation group, 6.5d in primary group. There were one dural tear, two Ls root lesions and 5 more numbness reoperation group, but recovery all patients. There were one dural tear in primary group. 17 cases got follow-up mean 12.1 months in reoperation group and 29 cases in primary group mean 11.8 months. The results demonstrated 88.2% success rate in reoperation group and 93.1% in primary group. There was no significant dif-ference in two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion Outcomes of Lambar mierodisceetomy with mini-open for treatment of recurrent lumbar disc herniations are similar to primary lumbar mierodiscectomy.
10.ASSOCIATION OF VESTICULAR GLUTAMATE TRANSPORTERS-AND 5-HT-LIKE IMMUNOREACTIVE VARICOSITIES WITH MESENCEPHALIC TRIGEMINAL NUCLEUS NEURONS IN THE RAT
Chinese Journal of Neuroanatomy 2005;21(1):10-16
The possible relationship of vesicular glutamate transporters ( VGluT1 and VGluT2 ) - and 5-HT-like immunoreactive (LI) terminals with mesencephalic trigeminal nucleus (Vme) neurons in the rat was examined by using triple-immunofluorescence histochemistry and double-labeled electron microscopic immunohistochemistry. Under confocal laser-scanning microscope, many neuronal cell bodies of Vme showed phosphate-activated glutaminase (PAG) -LI and the vast majority of them were large pseudounipolar neurons. A considerable number of VGluT1 -LI and VGluT2-LI terminals were widely distributed in Vme, the density of VGluT2-LI terminals was higher than that of VGluT1-LI. 5-HT-LI axonal varicosities had dense distribution in Vme, and some 5-HT-LI terminals also showed immunoreactivity for VGluT2. Some VGluT1-LI, VGluT2-LI, 5-HT-LI and VGluT2/5-HT-LI terminals were frequently observed in close apposition to the cell bodies of Vme neurons showing PAG-LI. Under electron microscope, VGluT1/VGluT2-LI and 5-HT-LI were visualized with silver grains and peroxidase products, respectively. Some terminals in Vme showed both VGluT2- and 5-HT-LI, these dual labeled varicosities usually made asymmetric contact with Vme neurons. Synaptic terminals that showed VGluT1-LI was also observed, but no coexpression of VGluT1 and 5-HT was found in Vme. The present results suggest that in the transmission of the proprioceptive sensory information from the orofacial regions to the higher center, glutamate and 5-HT may play important roles on the regulation of Vme neurons through complicated integration.
