AIM To study the effect of glucocorticoid acetic acid cortisone on expression of CaM mRNA in hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPAA). METHODS Using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR),the expression of CaM mRNA was measured in HPAA of rats which were injected with acetic acid cortisone. RESULTS Acetic acid cortisone induced the expression of CaM mRNA in hypothalamus and adrenal respectively, but it had no effect significantly in pituitary. CONCLUSION These data suggest that CaM mRNA plays important role in the modulation of GC in HPAA.

Objective To observe the levels of cAMP and adenylyl cyclase(AC) in hippocampus of mice with vascular dementia(VD) and the effect of Dihydroergocriptine(DHE),and to explore the molecular pathogenesis of VD.Methods The mice were subjected for ischemia-reperfusion three times on bilateral common carotid arteries by knots to establish models of VD and the changes of learning and memory were tested on d29/d30 after operation.DHE was administrated to another group of mice, which was taken as treatment group. The cAMP level was evaluated by the radioimmunoassay;AC mRNA positive neurons of hippocampus CA1 area were examined through in-situ hybridization. Results Compared with shamed-operation group, the learning and memory of model group was worse(P

Objective To investigate the metabolites of serum samples from liver cirrhotic patients with or without minimal hepatic encephalopathy, and even overt hepatic encephalopathy, then to find out diagnostic markers for minimal hepatic encephalopathy. Methods High performance liquid chromatography-orbit trap mass spectrometry (UPLC/LTQ-Orbit trap MS) technology was applied to analyze the serum metabolites from 38 patients of liver cirrhosiswith hepatitis B and 33 healthy volunteers. Results The serum metabolites of patients with simple liver cirrhosis were different from those of patients with minimal or overt hepatic encephalopathy. The serum metabolites of patients with minimal hepatic encephalopathy was mostly similar with those of overt hepatic encephalopathy patients.Arginase,L-tyrosine,glutamic acid, two L-phenylalanine peptide, homovanillic acid,omithine,L-serine were increased in patients with minimal or overt hepatic encephalopathy, and hypoxanthine decreased in patients with minimal or overt hepatic encephalopathy patients. Conclusions The serum metabolites of patients with minimal hepatic encephalopathy are mostly similar to those of patients with overt hepatic encephalopathy.Arginase,L-tyrosine,glutamic acid, two L-phenylalanine peptide, homovanillic acid,ornithine,L-serine maybe the early metabolites biomarkers to diagnose minimal hepatic encephalopathy.Hypoxanthine is likely to be an effective complement to treat patients with hepatic encephalopathy.

Objective To investigate the calcium signal transduction pathway in hippocampal neurons of mice with vascular dementia (VaD) and the intervention effect of dihydroergocriptine (DHE). Methods The mice were subjected for ischemia-reperfusion repeatedly on bilateral common carotid arteries by knots to establish the VaD models. Animals with sham-operation were taken as control group. The treating group was administered with DHE after the establishment of VaD model. The behavior changes were observed through the step-down avoidance test and water maze test on the 29th and 30th days after operation. The resting 〔Ca 2+〕 i level of hippocampal neurons was evaluated by laser scanning confocal microscopy. RT-PCR technique was used to measure mRNA expression of CaM an CaMPKⅡ in hippocampal neurons. Results The resting 〔Ca 2+〕 i level in model group(43.50?3.00) was significantly higher than those in the sham-operation group (25.50?3.50) (P

Objective To survey the antimicrobial resistance of nosocomial Klebsiella Pneumoniae (Kpn) isolates. Methods All the 68 Kpn strains were isolated and collected from nosocomial infections during April 2002 to March 2003. The susceptivity of bacteria and the production of extended spectrum ?-lactamases (ESBLs) were determined by Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion test and phenotypic confirmatory testing, respectively. Results All 68 Kpn strains were 100% susceptible to Menopenem and Imipenem but resistant to 14 other antimicrobials to different degrees. The first five drugs of high resistant rate were ampicillin (100%), amoxycillin/clavulanic acid (79.4%), sulphamethoxazole/trimothoprim (67.6%), cefotaxime (58.8%), gentamycin (47.0%). There were 28 isolates producing ESBLs (41.2%), which showed much higher resistance to ?-lactam, aminoglycosides, quinolones and sulphamethoxazole/trimothoprim than the non-ESBLs-producing strains. Conclusion Nosocomial Kpn isolates were most multidrug resistant, of which ESBLs-producing strains showed a higher resistance and which may involve other resistant mechanisms.

OBJECTIVE:To study the difference between the hydrophilic and hydrophobic fluoroquinolones(FQNLs)in?ducing resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae(Kpn)in vitro.METHODS:Hydrophilic ciprofloxacin(CIP)and hydrophobic sparfloxacin(SPFX)were used to induce FQNLs resistant mutants from a clinical susceptible isolate Kpn909with stepwise selection method, respectively,The susceptivity of bacteria to was determined by the standard method of two fold agar dilu?tion.RESULTS:The resistance of Kpn909to FQNLs was raised up gradually as FQNLs'concentration increased;Minimum inhibitory concentrations(MICs)of Kpn9098Selected by CIP at2?MIC(0.5mg/L)were16~32times higher than that of Kpn909,and showed resistant to ofloxacin(OFX),lomefloxacin(LMFX)and enofloxacin(ENX)with a MIC of8mg/L,16mg/L and8mg/L.Otherwise,SPFX-selected Kpn with a similar resistant level occurred at the concentration of8?MIC(1mg/L).The maximal selecting concentration of CIP and SPFX were128mg/L and64mg/L,and MIC of5FQNLs to the resistant mutants obtained at which were≥256mg/L and32~128mg/L,respectively.CONCLUSION:Both hydrophilic CIP and hydrophobic SPFX could induce Kpn the cross resistance to others FQNLs,but hydrophobic FQNLs may be superior to hydrophilic FQNLs to delay the resistance occurrence in Kpn.

Subcortical ischemic vascular disease (SIVD) is considered to be the most important and common cause of vascular cognitive impairment (VCI). If patients with subcortical ischemic vascular cognitive impairment (SIVCI) and subcortical vascular cognitive impairment (sVCI) can be found early, it is possible that vascular dementia (VaD) can be identified before occurrence and even reverse the process. Recent studies have shown that resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rsfMRI) may provide the objective basis for the diagnosis of SIVCI. This article reviews the application of rsfMRI in the diagnosis of SIVCI.

80% defined as category A,B,and C,respectively.Category A drugs were regarded as the focus of management, category B as the second focus of management, category C underwent general management, category D drugs were regarded as the focus in purchase.RESULTS:Hospital first-order drug storeroom and secondary drug storerooms classified their drugs into their own A,B,and C categories (category D was consistent). The consumption sum of category A drugs(about 20% of drugs) accounted for 60%;the consumption sum of category B drugs(about 20% of drugs) accounted for 20%;and the consumption sum of category C drugs(about 60% of drugs) plus that of small quantity of category D drugs accounted for 20%.CONCLUSION:This method can ensure drug supply and help maximize ec-onomical benefits with least human, material and financial resources.
