Objective To investigate the manifestations of MR imaging and histopathology of early postoperative normal brain, and to define the correlation between MRI and histopathology. Methods Thirty six New Zealand rabbits weighing 2.0 to 3.0 kg were divided into 10 groups according to the different postoperative days: 1 to 10 day. Six animals were in groups 3, 5, 7, 10, and 2 were in the other groups. A partial resection of the parietooccipital region was performed under the usual aseptic conditions after the animals were anesthetized intravenously with 3% pentobarbital (30 mg/kg). MR imaging procedures consisted of pre and postcontrast scanning were carried out on postoperative 1 to 10 day respectively. Brain tissue samples were obtained to be prepared for examinations immediately after MR scanning. Histopathological study was made under microscope and electron microscope. The findings of MRI were compared with pathology findings. Results (1) Surgical margin contrast enhancement on MR images could be seen 24 hours after surgery. (2) The degree of contrast enhancement increased gradually before 5 days postoperatively, and no remarkable changes were present from 5 to 10 days. (3) The disruption of blood brain barrier(BBB) is the main cause of contrast enhancement during the postoperative 3 days. After that period, mechanism responsible for contrast enhancement is the formation of neovascularity and broken BBB, an increase in the number of neovascularity play a predominant role in the contrast enhancement in normal postoperative brain tissue. Conclusion The characteristics of enhanced MRI present at the surgical margin followed a typical time course during the early postoperative period. The role of neovascularity and BBB disruption in the formation of contrast enhancement at surgical margin vary with time. Knowledge of the characteristics on postoperative MR images of the normal brain can help in differentiating benign changes from malignant gliomas residual.

Objective: To study magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) technique. Methods: An external force actuator was developed, the imaging pulse sequence of MRE was designed, and tissue simulating phantoms were constructed. The actuator controlled by the pulse sepuence produced shear waves at low frequency on the surface of the phantoms. A modified gradient echo sequence was developed with motion sensitizing gradient (MSG)imposed along X,Y or Z direction.Cyclic displacement within the medium induced by shear waves caused a measurable phase shift in the received MR signal. From the measured phase shift, the displacement at each voxel could be calculated, and the propatating shear waves within the medium were directly imaged. By adjusting the phase offsets, the dynamic propagation of shear waves in a wave cycle was obtained. The phase images were processed to aquire quantitative elasticity image using local frequency estimation(LFE)method. The experiments were implemented with 1.0% and 1.5% tissue simulating agarose gel. Shear waves at frequency of 150 Hz,200 Hz,250 Hz,and 300 Hz were applied. Results: The phase images of MRE directly imaged the propagating shear waves within the phantoms. The wavelength of shear waves varied with the change of exciting frequency and stiffness of the phantoms. The wavelength of shear waves was exactly proportional to the frequency and stiffness of the phantom. The contrast of elasticity in agarose gel with two concentrations was clearly demonstrated on elasticity images. Conclusion: The phase images of MRE can directly visualize the propagation of shear waves in the medium. The elasticity image of MRE can quantitatively image the elastic modulus of the medium

OBJECTIVESTo investigate the findings of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and histopathology in early postoperative normal brain, and to define the correlation between MR images and histopathology.
METHODSThirty-six New Zealand rabbits weighing 2.0 to 3.0 kg were divided into 10 groups according to different postoperative days: 1 to 10 days. A partial resection of the parietooccipital region was performed under usual aseptic conditions after the animals were anesthetized intravenously with 3% pentobarbital (30 mg/kg). MR imaging procedures consisted of pre- and postcontrast scanning and were carried out on postoperative days 1 to 10. Brain tissue samples were prepared for examination immediately after MR scanning. Histopathological examination was done under light both and electron microscopes. The findings of MR imaging were compared with histopathologic findings.
RESULTSSurgical margin contrast enhancement on MR images could be seen 24 hours after surgery. The degree of contrast enhancement increased gradually up to 5 days postoperation, and no remarkable changes were present from days 5 to 10. Disruption of the blood brain barrier (BBB) was the main cause of contrast enhancement during the first 3 postoperative days. After that period, the mechanism responsible for contrast enhancement was the formation of neovascularity and a broken BBB. An increase in the amount of neovascularity played a predominant role in contrast enhancement in normal postoperative brain tissue.
CONCLUSIONSThe features of enhanced MR images present at the surgical margin followed a typical time course during the early postoperative period. The role of neovascularity and BBB disruption in the formation of contrast enhancement at the surgical margin varies with time. Knowledge of the features of contrast enhancement in postoperative MR images of normal brain can help in differentiating benign changes from residual malignant glioma.

Objective To investigate nursing students′ attitudes, knowledge and career preference toward elder people and analyze its influencing factors, so as to provide references for teaching reform of undergraduate geriatric nursing education in universities of traditional Chinese medicine. Methods A total of 187 nursing undergraduates were investigated by facts on aging quiz ( FAQ1 ) , Kogan′s attitudes toward old people scale ( KAOP ) and employment intention scale of nursing students about nursing students′ attitudes, knowledge and career preferences toward elder people, from March to April 2015. Results The total score of KAOP scale of nursing students was (139.39±14.50); the mean score of FAQ1 scale of nusing students was (15.37±2.92), and the pass rate was 59.68%. 9.4% of nursing students selected the geriatric nursing positions among the top 3 jobs that nursing students want most. There were significant differences in nursing students′attitudes toward the elderly based on factors such as: being the only child or not, the relation between parents and the elderly, having experience in dealing with the elderly, and having intention to communicate with the elderly or not (P<0.05). According to the multiple regression analysis, nursing students′ attitude toward the elderly was influenced by being the only child or not, the relation between parents and the elderly, and having intention to communicate with the elderly or not (P<0.05).Conclusions Few nursing students would like to choose geriatric nursing work. The experimental teaching contents and methods should be improved in geriatric nursing, and the chance of nursing students should be increased for actual contact with the elderly.

Objective:
To explore the relationship among self-regulatory focus and depression, anxiety symptoms and suicidal risks of medical college students.
Methods:
A total of 2 251 freshmen were recruited from a medical university by convenienee sampling methood. A cross-sectional questionnaire survey using Regulatory Focus Questionnaire (RFQ), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS), Psychache Scale (PAS), and Suicide Behaviors Questionnaire-Revised (SBQ-R) was conducted.
Results:
The prevalence rate of freshmen’s depression symptoms was as high as 20.4%, the prevalence rate of anxiety symptoms was 11.2%, and the risk of suicide increased by 5.85 times among students with depression-anxiety comorbid symptoms. Girls reported higher prevention focused scores than boys, as well as higher anxiety symptoms and suicidal risks(t=4.84,2.18,5.57,P<0.05). College students with a prevention focused self-regulation style had significantly higher scores on depression, anxiety symptoms and suicidal risks than those with a promotion focused regulatory style, the effect sizes of the differences were moderate or large (Cohen’s d>0.50).
Conclusion
Self-regulatory focus plays an important role in emotional health. The pursuit of promotion goals is beneficial to mental health, while the pursuit of prevention goals is more likely to be associated with depression, anxiety symptoms and a higher risk of suicide.

Objective To elucidate the transmission dynamic and epidemic trend of bancroftian filariasis occurred under the condition with no control measure taken 5 years after elimination of filariasis. Methods A 10-year longitudinal observation (from 1984 to 1994) was made in Huayuan Village in Shengli Township of Tancheng County, which used to be a high bancroftian filariasis-endemic area in southern part of Shandong Province. Results The microfilarial rate decreased from 0.56% before the study to 0.12% after the study and 8 out of the 9 previous microfilaria-positive cases became negative gradually. During the study period, 6 new microfilaremia cases were detected, 5 of which became negative naturally within 3 to 4 years. Eighty-eight point eight nine per cent of the detected patients with microfilaremia converted into IgG4-negative after 10 years. The natural infective rate of vectors decreased year by year and became zero by the tenth year of the study, the annual transmission potency decreased also from 3.47 to zero by the tenth year. Conclusions It showed that under the local natural environment the biting rate representing the vector density which was obtained by capture method was from 24.1 to 52.5 person/night among the residents who did not use mosquito nets, and 13.5 to 21 person/night among the residents who used mosquito nets. The microfilarial rate of 0.56% in population with the average microfilarial density of 6.6 to 20.7 capita/60 μl ear blood of residual microfilaria-positive patients might be considered as the terminal threshold of transmission.
