OBJECTIVETo investigate the capability of semi-quantitative and quantitative parameters of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) to predict the response to concurrent chemoradiotherapy( CCRT) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
METHODSA total of 24 patients with stage III or IIIB NSCLC, who underwent 3.0T DCE-MRI before CCRT, were enrolled in this study. Semi-quantitative and quantitative parameters were calculated by Funtool and Omnikinetics software. The relationship between these obtained parameters and tumor response was evaluated by Spearmen' s correlation analysis. The patients were classified into two groups according to the tumor regression rate after treatment, as response group (group A) and non-response group ( group B). Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the parameters of responders and non-responders. The value of the parameters on predicting response was calculated by receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC).
RESULTSThe tumor regression rate after treatment was negatively correlated with time to peak (TTP) and the extravascular-extracellular volume fraction (Ve), and was positively correlated with signal enhancement ratio (SERmax) and volume transfer constant (Ktrans) (P < 0.05 for all). Statistical significant differences were found between group A and group B both in semi-quantitative and quantitative parameters (P < 0.05). Group A had a lower TTP value [(34.66 ± 16.37) s vs. (44.09 ± 17.41) s] and Ve value [(0.19 ± 0.03) vs. (0.25 ± 0.05)] than group B, whereas group A had a higher SERmax [(166.50 ± 44.95)% vs. (113.57 ± 46.62)%] and Ktrans [(0.41 ± 0.17) min(-1) vs. (0.28 ± 0.12) min(-1)] than group B (P < 0.05 for all). The ROC analysis indicated that when setting the threshold of Ve on ≤ 0.21 for predicting response, the specificity, sensitivity and accuracy were 85.7%, 80.0% and 83.3%, respectively, with an area under curve of 0.875 (P < 0.001).
CONCLUSIONSBoth the semi-quantitative and quantitative DCE-MRI parameters are helpful for predicting the response after CCRT of NSCLC. Quantitative parameters seem to be more meaningful than semi-quantitative parameters.

Objective To investigate the risk factors and clinical characteristics of deep venous thromboembolism (DVT) of the lower extremities in Chinese people. Methods The clinical manifestations and risk factors in 2742 DVT patients diagnosed by phlebography were retrospectively studied. Results DVT made up 22.39% of all the venous diseases of the lower extremity. The most common clinical presentations of DVT were swelling and pain (92. 34% ), varicose vein ( 32. 57% ), pigmentation (24. 95% ) and ulceration( 18.45% ). The left lower extremity was more frequently involved. The whole limb type was 60. 09%, 80. 23% DVT patients had identified risk factors including age over 40 years old (76. 29% ), history of major surgery ( 12. 18% ) and severe trauma ( 8.42% ), pregnancy and the puerperium ( 4. 87% ). The history of general surgery ( 26. 05% ), vascular surgery ( 23. 35% ), gynaecoiogy and obstetrics (20. 96% ), orthopaedics ( 16. 47% ) and urinary surgery (7.49%) was among the most common surgery. Primary hypercoagulable syndrome was identified in 0. 22% DVT patients. Conclusion DVT makes up 22. 39% of the disease of veins of the lower extremity. The most common clinical presentations of DVT were swelling and pain. The most common risk factors were age over 40 years, major surgery, severe trauma. Primary hypercoagulable syndrome is a heritage risk factor for DVT pathogenesis.

Objective To explore the relationship between mitochondrial DNA gene,GJB2 gene mutations and the susceptibility to noise-induced hearing loss in the army, and to provide scientific evidence for gene screening of susceptible individuals and relevant molecular epidemiology. Methods 182 blood samples were collected from 349 soldiers, consisting of susceptible and tolerance groups exposed to military noise in Beijing.Genomic DNA was isolated, and the targeted fragments of mitochondrial DNA and coding region of GJB2 gene were amplified by polymerase chain reaction(PCR).The PCR products were analyzed by direct sequencing. Results The results revealed that there were 98 mtDNA variants(41 reside in 12SrRNA) and 12 GJB2 gene variants;among them,mtDNA T1095C and G7642A coexisted in 4 susceptible individuals, but these mutations were not found in the tolerance group. In addition,3 tolerant individuals carried 961delT+insC while no one was found in the susceptible group. Conclusion The 12SrRNA is an area evidenced by high variant and mutation rate. The coexistence of mtDNA T1095C and G7642A in the susceptible group exposed to the similar noise suggests that these mutations are pathogenic mutations associated with NIHL.Three tolerant individuals with the history of long-term noise exposure carry 961delT+insC,suggesting that 961delT+insC might be a conditional pathogenic mutation, but not correlate with NIHL.

In order to solve the problems that the injury, hemorrhage, infection and edema of the brain tissue caused by brain electrodes implantation for aquatic animal robots, a light stimulation device and an optical control experiment method for carp robots are proposed in this paper. According to the shape of the carp skull, the device is a structure of Chinese character " cut by a printed circuit board which can provide three groups of A, B and C bridge platforms for the light stimulation source. The two ends of a bridge in every group are welded with a jumper board, and the light emitting diodes (LED) are inserted into the jumper boards as the light stimulation source, and all negative poles of the jumper boards are connected to the console by the wire. A LED light can be replaced by another LED light according to the need of the wavelength of the LED light, and various combinations of the light stimulation modes can be also selected. This device was mounted on the carp robot's head, the carp robot was placed in a water maze, and the optical control experiment method was observed to control the forward movement and steering movement of the carp robots ( = 10) under the dark light condition. The results showed that the success rates of the three groups of red light control experiments were 53%-87%, and the success rates of the three groups of blue light control experiments were 50%-80%. This study shows that the apparatus and the method are feasible.
