1.Correlation of posterior cervical decompression with spinal cord shifting backward distance and axial symptoms
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(13):2037-2042
BACKGROUND:The distance of spinal cord shifting backward after treatment through cervical posterior approach is affected by various factors. In fact, it is a morphological change after spinal cord is affected by external force.
OBJECTIVE:To analyze the influential factors for spinal cord shifting backward after posterior cervical decompression for cervical spondylotic myelopathy.
METHODS:Case data of 70 patients with multi-segmental cervical spondylotic myelopathy undergoing posterior cervical decompression were retrospectively analyzed. According to the different distances of spinal cord shifting backward after treatment, they were divided into three groups:<3 mm group, 3-5 mm group, and>5 mm group. In accordance with Japanese Orthopaedic Association Scores, the degree of cervical curvature and axial symptom index were compared.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:No significant difference in the recovery rate of Japanese Orthopaedic Association Scores was detected among the three groups. No significant difference in cervical curvature was visible among the three groups before and after treatment. The proportion of axial symptom was significantly higher in the patients of>5 mm group than the other two groups after treatment (P<0.05). These results suggested that the distance of spinal cord shifting backward was associated with axial symptom after treatment in patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy after posterior cervical decompression.

Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2013;44(7):794-797
Objective: To investigate the chemical constituents in the dried whole plant of Lobelia chinensis. Methods: Column chromatography, such as silica gel, MCI, ODS, Sephadex LH-20, C18 reverse-phased silica gel columns, and preparative HPLC were used to isolate the compounds. Spectroscopic methods like MS, 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR were used to elucidate their structures. Results: Fifteen compounds were isolated from 95% ethanol extract of L. chinensis, including twelve flavonoids: quercetin (1), rutin (2), luteolin (3), apigenin (4), hesperidin (5), quercetin-3-O-α-L-rhamnoside (6), quercetin-7-O-α-L-rhamnoside (7), quercetin-3- O-β-D-glucoside (8), amentoflavone (9), naringenin (10), hesperetin (11), and eupafolin (12), and three coumarins: 5, 7- dimethoxy-coumarin (13), isoscopoletin (14), and scoparone (15). Conclusion: Compounds 6-12 are isolated from the plants in genus Lobelia L. for the first time. Compounds 5, 13, and 14 are isolated from L. chinensis for the first time.
5.Research progress of bone morphogenetic proteins-9 induced periodontal ligament stem cells osteogenesis differentiation and it′s signal pathway
Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2015;(12):1327-1332
Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are members of the transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β) superfamily and play critical roles in skeletal development, bone formation and stem cell differentiation.BMP9 is one of the most osteogenic BMPs, promoting osteogenesis differentiation of periodontal ligament stem cells ( PDLSCs) both in vitro and in vivo.Recently, signal transduc-tion studies have revealed that BMP-Receptor-Smads and BMP-Receptor-Mitogen activated protein kinase ( MAPK) play vital roles in BMP9 which promote PDLSCs osteogenesis differentiation.Several studies revealed that transcription factors closely associated with os-teogenesis differentiation are found in the downstream of the Smads and MAPK pathways. This review aims to summarize our current knowledge of BMP9-mediated osteogenesis by presenting recently completed works which may help us to further elucidate these path-ways.
6.Experimental study on the vascularization of tissue-engineered bone with vascular bundle graft
Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1982;0(01):-
Objective To observe the effect of transformation of vascularized tissue-engineered bone with vascular bundle graft in vivo. Methods The bone marrow stem cells (BMSCs) obtained from rabbit os ilium were cultured, expanded and induced to form osteocytes, then they were combined with porous ?-tricalcium phosphate (?-TCP) to construct tissue-engineered bone. The tissue-engineered bone was implanted in a segmental defect with critical length of 15mm in rabbit femoral shaft. A bundle containing both artery and vein was inserted in the centre of the tissue-engineered bone with microvascular surgical technique. After an examination with DEXA bone scanner, the specimen was harvested for macroscopic and histological examination after 12 weeks of growth period. Results The site where the implanted vascular bundle inserted into the tissue engineered bone appeared like foramen nutriens, the blood vessels were patent. Abundant blood vessels, which emerged from the deep tissue of the engineered bone, were evident on the surface of specimen. Multicentric ossification area rich in blood vessels could be seen in the tissue-engineered bone histologically. The enchondral ossification in the center of tissue-engineered bone and membranous ossification in the periphery occurred simultaneously. Some materials in the centre of tissue-engineered bone had transformed into marrow cavity like construction. The results of the DEXA demonstrated that the vascularized tissue-engineered bone produced more boney tissue. Conclusions Implantation of blood vessel bundle into tissue-engineered bone may enhance neovascularization of the tissue-engineered bone and accelerate the process of reconstruction subsequently, and it is a promising method of vascularization of tissue-engineered bone.
