Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1971;12(1):29-34
A case of orbital injury with a plastic chopstick accompanied by meningeal irritation signs was presented. A 34-year-old house-wife was admitted to our clinic complaining of vision loss, proptosis and dull ocular pain in right eye on March 11, 1976. 17 days before admission she was stabbed on the right orbital region with a plastic chopstick. The clinical finical findings Were recorded normal in left eye. The right eye showed zero in vision, proptosis, fixed eyeball with total ophthalmoplegia and exposure Keratitis. On the 2nd hospital day a broken plastic chopstick, 9.5 cm in length, was carefully removed from injured site by exploratory eperation. In that afternoon meningeal irritation signs, vomiting and neck stiffness was abruptly developed. The laboratory findings of the cerebrospinalfluid revealed inflammatory signs. After having been administered massive antibiotics (crystalline penicillin, bayrena, and chloramphenicol) systemi-cally for 17 days, she was recovered from meningeal irritation signs containing remission of inflammatory findings of cerebro spinal fluid examination. On the 21st hospital day, 39 days after injury, the optic disc was seen totally pale. On the 25th hospital day she was discharged, at which right eye showed clear in cornea, totally pale disc, and total ophthalmoplegia with ptosis. When she returned about 5 months after discharge, the right eye revealed much regressed ptosis, superficial corneal opacity with loss of corneal sense, ocular motility limited in superolateral direction, fixed and dilated pupil and still pale disc. Authors attempt to evalurate this case throlgh the related literatues.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1973;14(3):210-214
The authors presented a case of von Hippel-Lindau's disease. The patient was a 33-year-old man who visited to our hospital with visual disturbance on the right eye for a month and blind in the left eye for 10 years on the 4th May, 1973. On the eye examination, the left eye revealed ocular hypertension, deep chamber, and vitreous opacity which interfered with the visuality of the fundus. The right eye was normotensive and 0.1 incorrectable in visual acuity. The fundus revealed two angioma associated with large feeding vessels, scattered hemorrhages, and massive exudates along the engorged and tortuous vessels at the temporal retina. On general physical examination, no neurological signs were found, but multiple hard corn sized masses were palpated on the both sides of epididymal head. The masses were confirmed as epididymal cyst on microscopic examination. The x-ray findings were pulmonary tuberculosis far advanced on chest, an extrinsic pressure indentation in the floor of bladder on I.V.P., and abnormal intracranial vascularity, on right carotid angiogram. The blood chemistry showed an abnormal increase of amylase and lipase titers.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1977;18(4):391-397
A case of congenital corneal staphyloma was presented. This 4 year-old boy was premature born and received oxygen in theLincubator during one month after birth. He showed mental retardation, articulation disturbance and gait disturbance. The right eye was free from any anomaly. The left eye was undergone enucleation for cosmetic improvement because of corneal opacity at birth. A detailed histologic examination of the congenital corneal staphyloma was given; epidermidialization of the corneal epithelium, scarring and vascularization of the stroma, with an absence of Bowman's membrane were shown. Descemet-endotheliallayer was completely defective in keratoiridic and corneal-abnormal pigment layer adhesions, but found in the seperated portion between cornea and iris. Iris root was not found in normal position. An abnormal pigment epithelial layer from ciliary epithelium was covered the surface of trabecular meshwork(anterior chamber angle) and an abnormal pigmentation of the trabecular meshwork poorly developed, which was running on iris pigment epithelium and covering inner surface of the cornea. The ciliary body, especially the process was atrophic. The lens was thin membranous and cataractous. Abnormal fibrinous band in the retinal capillary bed was argyrophilic strand. It was suggested that these findings of anterior corneal staphyloma was resulted from primary developmental anomaly of mesodermal and/or neuroectodermal tissue.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1971;12(4):204-206
We present a case of pseudotumor. The patient was a 51 year old male, complaining of unilateral exophthalmos of the right eye for about 10 years. It was much aggravated during last a year. Past and family history were non-contributory. At the first examination on the 10th of May, 1971, the left eye was recorded normal. The right eye showed H.M./50cm. in vision, proptosis (18mm differenee in both eyes), limitation of ocular motility, exposure keratitis, and pallor disk in funduscopy. The skul X-ray showed a radiopaque density with enlarged orbital cavity but no evidence of bone estruction. The patient was admitted to our department on the 13th of May, 1971. on the seventh hospital day, a child fist sized firm tumor mass removed through anterior approach. The right eye had also enucleated. Groasly the mass had a gray color, partially discolorated and have alveolar structures. Microscopically lymphoid follicles were seperated by fibrous. occasionally hyalinized fibrous connective tissue. Also occasional hemorrhagic foci and infiltration of eosinophils were seen.

Journal of Veterinary Science 2023;24(2):e21-
Under the current African swine fever (ASF) epidemic situation, a science-based ASF-control strategy is required. An ASF transmission mechanistic model can be used to understand the disease transmission dynamics among susceptible epidemiological units and evaluate the effectiveness of an ASF-control strategy by simulating disease spread results with different control options. The force of infection, which is the probability that a susceptible epidemiological unit becomes infected, could be estimated by applying an ASF transmission mechanistic model. The government needs to plan an ASF-control strategy based on an ASF transmission mechanistic model.

Journal of Korean Medical Science 2014;29(Suppl 3):S222-S227
This study aimed to examine the positive effects of polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) on the wound-healing process in pressure ulcers. In this randomized controlled trial, the effects of PDRN were compared over time between an experimental group (n=11) and a control group (n=12). The former was administered the same dose of PDRN intramuscularly (1 ampule, 3 mL, 5.625 mg, for 5 days) for 2 weeks and perilesionally (1 ampule, 3 mL, 5.625 mg, twice a week) for 4 weeks. The primary endpoint for determining efficacy was wound healing in the pressure ulcers, which was reflected by the wound surface area determined using VISITRAK Digital (Smith & Nephew, Largo, FL). The secondary endpoint was the pressure ulcer scale for healing score, determined using pressure ulcer scale for healing (PUSH Tool 3.0 developed by the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel). After the 4-week treatment period, PDRN therapy was found to significantly reduce the wound size and PUSH score, without adverse effect during the treatment. The findings indicate that PDRN can positively modify the wound healing process in pressure ulcers, and its use could improve the clinical outcomes of patients and lower the need for additional therapies or hospital stay.

Korean Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy 1988;8(2):141-144
In 1960 Martin and his associates described another type of tumor of the stomach derived from the smooth muscle, which they named myoid tumor in a study of six patients. In 1962 Stout applied the term "lelomyoblastoma" to this interesting entity in a report of a collected series of 69 patients. Tumor cells are round or polygonal epithelioid cells, which contain perinuclear vacuole or clear zone. A 58 year-old female was admitted to this hospital because of epigastric discomfort for three months. At Upper gastrointestinal series and gastrofiberscope, a round hemispherical submucosal tumor was noted at posterior wall near the lesser curvature of gastric antrum. After subtotal gastrectomy, the submucosal tumor was diagnosed as leiomyoblastoma. Because leiomyoblastoma are rare and easily misdiagnosed as leiomyoma or leiomyosarcoma, careful histologic study is recommended.
