Objective To synthesize a quantum dot (QD) to recognize glioma cells for imaging and photodynamic therapy. Methods By one-pot aqueous approach, near infrared-emitting CdTe was produced. After detection of its physicochemical characterizations, RGD was conjugated. Emission images were observed with confocal microscopy. To test its toxicity, CdTe-RGD with various concentrations was separately added into U251 and 3T3 cells for incubation in dark circulation. To test its photodynamic effect, U251 and 3T3 cells were then irradiated for 5 ~ 60 min using 632.8 nm laser. Results The QD (Φ = 3.75 nm, PL peak wavelength =700 nm, PLQY=20%) achieved was a spherical crystal with excellent monodispersity. Under confocal microscope , U251 cells were visualized but 3T3 cells not. In dark circulation, the survival rates of both U251 and 3T3 cells were above 85%. After laser irradiation, the survival rate of U251 cells decreased to (37 ± 1.6)%with the increasing of irradiation time and CdTe-RGD concentration. Conclusion With good physicochemical characterization and low toxicity, CdTe-RGD could be applied in biomedical imaging and photodynamic therapy of gliomas.

ObjectiveTo assess the differences of short- and long-term postintervention status on ocular and systemic symptoms for patients with ocular myasthenia gravis (OMG) after pyridostigmine bromide, corticosteroid, thymectomy, or thymectomy-corticosteroid combination therapy ( combination ).MethodsThis retrospective plus prospective study included 180 OMG patients, whose age of onset ≥ 15 years, treated non-randomly with above therapies separately: thymectomy group (60 cases ), corticosteroid group (39 cases), combination group ( 31 cases ), symptomatic group ( 50 cases ). Postintervention status complying with Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA)complete stable remission ,pharmacologic remission, or minimal manifestations was considered as desirable response, which was used as statistical indicator. Results ①Corticosteroid group showed higher desirable response rates on ptosis, ophthalmoplegia and general weakness at 3-6 months after treatment than other groups, and 42. 1%( 16/38 ) of them at 3 months achieved the desired state of ptosis, higher than the symptomatic group (7/48,14. 6%, ×2 = 8. 200, P = 0. 004 ). ② Ascending ideal rates had been presented in both combination and thymectomy groups since 1 year after treatments, while a little bit higher rate was presented in the former. At the end of observation, 21.7% ( 13/60 )of patients in thymectomy group achieved complete stable remission.By paired longitudinal comparisons, thymectomy group showed higher ideal rates on ptosis (22/40,55.0% ), ophthalmoplegia ( 16/27,59. 3% ) and general weakness (20/40,50. 0% ) at 2 years than that at 3 months( 11/59,18.6% ;11/44,25.0% ;9/60,15.0% ;P =0. 002, 0. 031,0.000). ③For those patients by symptomatic treatment, the average age of onset was (51.9 ± 18.0) years, higher than that by other 3 therapies (F = 10. 563 ,P =0. 000). ④OMG patients with ophthalmoplegia more likely select corticosteroid or combined therapy. Ophthalmoplegia in combination group was higher than that in symptomatic and surgery groups( ×2 = 12. 939,14. 380, P =0. 000 in both). Ophthalmoplegia in corticosteroid group was higher than that in surgery group ( ×2 = 8. 017, P = 0. 005 ).Conclusions Corticosteroid appears to early overcome ptosis, ocular motor dysfunction and general weakness for patient with OMG in early-to-middle adulthood.Thymectomy andsurgery-corticosteroid combinationtherapies bothshowlong-term effectonthem.

Objective To research the incidence and etiological factors of intraocular pressure(IOP)elevation in patients in early and late postop?erative stages after vitrectomy. Methods The clinical data of 235 cases(306 eyes)who underwent vitrectomy in our hospital were respectively ana?lyzed. IOP was measured before operation,in the early postoperative stage(within 2 weeks)and in the late postoperative stage(6 months after opera?tion or longer)by non?contact tonometer. Risk factors related with ocular hypertension happened in the early and late postoperative stages were statis?tically analyzed. Results The mean average IOP before operation was 15.3 ± 4.1 mmHg for the 306 eyes. Within the follow?up period of 6?20 months(mean,14.3 months),ocular hypertension occurred in 42 eyes[incidence,13.7%;mean,31.9 ± 6.0 mmHg]in the early postoperative stage and in 12 eyes[incidence,3.9%;mean,32.1 ± 5.7 mmHg]in the late postoperative stage. Logistic regression analysis revealed that lensecto?my,scleral buckling, cyclophotocoagulation, inert gas filling, silicone oil tamponade and diabetic retinopathy were the independent risk factors of oc?ular hypertension in early postoperative stage after vitrectomy, while lensectomy, scleral buckling, pan retinal photocoagulation, silicone oil tampon?ade, diabetic retinopathy and carotid artery stenosis were the independent risk factors of ocular hypertension in late postoperative stage after vitrecto?my. In addition, cyclophotocoagulation was a protective factor of IOP in the late postoperative stage. Conclusion The risk factors of ocular hyperten?sion after vitrectomy include the intraocular gapfiller, the mode of combined operation, disease type and carotid artery stenosis. IOP elevation that happens in the late postoperative stage is more harmful. Ocular hypertension in the late postoperative stage is not associated with that in the early stage.
