Objective To synthesize a quantum dot (QD) to recognize glioma cells for imaging and photodynamic therapy. Methods By one-pot aqueous approach, near infrared-emitting CdTe was produced. After detection of its physicochemical characterizations, RGD was conjugated. Emission images were observed with confocal microscopy. To test its toxicity, CdTe-RGD with various concentrations was separately added into U251 and 3T3 cells for incubation in dark circulation. To test its photodynamic effect, U251 and 3T3 cells were then irradiated for 5 ~ 60 min using 632.8 nm laser. Results The QD (Φ = 3.75 nm, PL peak wavelength =700 nm, PLQY=20%) achieved was a spherical crystal with excellent monodispersity. Under confocal microscope , U251 cells were visualized but 3T3 cells not. In dark circulation, the survival rates of both U251 and 3T3 cells were above 85%. After laser irradiation, the survival rate of U251 cells decreased to (37 ± 1.6)%with the increasing of irradiation time and CdTe-RGD concentration. Conclusion With good physicochemical characterization and low toxicity, CdTe-RGD could be applied in biomedical imaging and photodynamic therapy of gliomas.

Objective To study clinical and immunological features of renal tubular acidosis (RTA) patients complicated with autoimmunity disease. Methods Data of 60 patients of RTA complicated with autoimmune disease and 40 without it during 1999 and 2009 were reviewed, including clinical features, immunological examinations and renal tubular function. Results Among 60 patients of RTA, 59 were type Ⅰ, one type Ⅱ, and 55 complicated with Sjogen's syndrome (92%), one with systemic lupus erythematosus, nine with autoimmune thyroid disease, and one with rheumatoid arthritis. Flaccid paralysis was manifested in 50 (83%) RTA patients complicated with autoimmune disease, polyuria in 28 (47%),polydipsia in 28 (47%) , bone disorder in 24 (40%) and arthralgia in 28 (47%) cases, but of those without autoimmune disease, bone disease only in eight (20%) and arthralgia in nine (22%) cases, with statistically significant difference ( P <0. 01 ). Serum level of parathyroid hormone increased noticeably, with prevalence of positive antinuclear antibody, anti-SSA antibody and anti-SSB antibody of 88 % (49/56),84% (47/56) and 43% (24/56), respectively in RTA patients with autoimmune disease, all significantly higher than those in the patients without it ( P < 0. 05 ). Conclusions Sjogen' s syndrome is the most common and prevalence of bone disorder and arthralgia are significantly higher in patients of RTA complicated with autoimmune disease, which should be examined as early as possible for timely diagnosis and treatment.

Objective:To explore application of mixed teaching platform in the clinical practice teaching of the laboratory medicine in Children's hospitals. Methods:We constructed a mixed online and offline teaching platform based on the Laboratory Quality Management System (LQMS) in the Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. The undergraduates from Batch 2016 ( n=15) and Batch 2018 ( n=12) of College of Laboratory Medicine of Chongqing Medical University were taken as control group and experimental group respectively. Traditional teaching method was adopted by the control group, and the mixed teaching method was adopted by the experimental group. The results of two groups' clinical practice assessment, rate of outstanding students (total score ≥ 90) and rate of satisfaction (score ≥ 90) were compared to evaluate the teaching effect. SPSS 17.0 was used to conduct t-test and Chi-square test. Results:The database of teaching platform includes 68 teaching cases, 198 pieces of courseware, 305 clinical cases and 3 036 atlases. The test bank has accumulated 4 657 tests, covering clinical laboratory, immunology, biochemistry, microbiology and blood transfusion. The results of students in experimental group were significantly better than those of the control group [the score of clinical practice assessment: (85.90±5.04) vs. (78.90±6.75)( P<0.05); rate of outstanding students: 33.3% (4/12) vs. 6.7% (1/15), P>0.05; rate of satisfaction: 86.7% (13/15) vs. 100.0% (12/12) ( P>0.05). Conclusion:The mixed online and offline teaching platform based on the LQMS is highly recognized by students and can significantly improve the effect of clinical practice teaching, which can provide typical medical case teaching at any time and make up for limited case type in children's hospital.
