Chinese Journal of Health Management 2009;3(2):88-91
Objective To investigate the relationship between obesity parameters and obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) in aircrew. Methods A questionnaire survey in aircrew members was performed. Outcome measurement included body height, body weight, neck circumference ( NC), waist circumference (WC), and body mass index (BMI). Those with snoring during sleep and/or Epworth sleepiness scale (ESS)score ≥ 9 were screened with pulse oxygen saturation test during overnight sleep. Those with oxygen saturation decrease index ≥ 10 times/h and suspected OSAHS were tested by polysomnography (PSG). The objects were then assigned to three groups: the OSAHS group, the snore group and the normal group. The relationship between obesity parameters and OSAHS was analyzed. Results There were 399 ( 37. 54% ) overweight, 36 ( 3. 39% ) obesity, 130 ( 12. 23% ) increased NC, and 354 (33.30%)increased WC in 1063 aircrew members (OSAHS group > snore group > normal group; P<O. 05). The mean value of BMI, NC and WC in the three groups were dittos. Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that overweight, obesity and increased WC were significantly associated with snoring (P <0.05) and snoring enlarged NC was significantly correlated with OSAHS (P< 0.05). Conclusion Increased BMI, NC and WC may be risk factors of OSAHS among aircrew. Effective prevention and treatment of OSAHS should be needed.

Objectives To explore the effects of hemodialysis on oxidizing stress and plasma nitrogen monoxide (NO) levels in maintenance hemodialysis patients. Methods 67 maintenance hemodialysis patients (male 39, female 28, and mean age 58?13y) were enrolled in this study. Serum malondialdehyde (MDA) level was measured by colorimetry, and plasma NO level was determined by enzymatic method. The MDA and NO levels before and after hemodialysis were measured in 48 cases of the patients. Results After hemodialysis, the serum MDA levels significantly increased, and the plasma NO levels decreased. The patients with cardiovascular diseases had lower NO levels and higher MDA levels than the patients without ones before hemodialysis. The serum MDA levels of the patients using biological incompatible dialysis membrane increased after hemodialysis. Conclusion Hemodialysis treatment, especially using biological incompatible dialysis membrane increased oxidizing stress and decreased plasma NO levels in maintenance hemodialysis patients, and was significantly correlated with the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases.

OBJECTIVE:To observe the effects of bisoprolol combined with conventional triple therapy on the efficacy and re-lated indexes of patients with rheumatic heart valvular disease (RVD) combined chronic heart failure. METHODS:110 patients with RVD combined with chronic heart failure were randomly divided into observation group(55 cases)and control group(55 cas-es). All patients were treated with oxygen inhalation,anti-infection,correcting electrolyte imbalance, controlling arrhythmia, and giving digitalis drugs and diuretic drugs(it can be disabled after edema symptom being controlled);based on it,control group was given Enalapril tablet with initial dose of 2.5 mg,once to twice a day, then adjusted to 10-20 mg after 1 week, twice a day+20 mg Spironolactone tablet, once a day+10 mg Propranolol tablet, once a day. Observation group was additionally given Bisoprolol fuma-rate tablet initial dose of 1.25 mg,once a day,and then increased to 10 mg based on condition improved and tolerability after a meal, once a day. They were treated for 12 weeks. Clinical efficacy, and LVEF,LVEDD,LVESD,SBP,DBP,HR before and af-ter treatment and incidence of adverse reactions in 2 groups were observed. RESULTS:The total effective rate in observation group was significantly higher than control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Before treatment, there were no significant differences in the LVEF,LVEDD,LVESD,SBP,DBP and HR between 2 groups(P>0.05). After treatment,LVEF in 2 groups were significantly higher than before, and observation group was higher than control group,LVEDD,LVESD,SBP, DBP and HR were significantly lower than before, and observation group was lower than control group, the differences were statis-tically significant(P<0.05). And there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions(P>0.05). CONCLU-SIONS:Based on conventional treatment, bisoprolol combined with conventional triple therapy shows good efficacy in the treat-ment of RVD combined chronic heart failure,it can improve cardiac function, with good safety.

Objective To further identify the isolated Mycoplasma genitalium (Mg) from the high risk population of STD in China. Mothods The morphology of Mg standard strains and clinical isolates were observed under electron microscopy (EM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Mg sample preparation for AFM was fixed on mica and AFM images of scanning observation were captured by contacting and tapping modes and operated under normal atmospheric pressure and temperature. Results and Conclusion Mg had a diversity of shapes, including flask, pear, spindle or round shape with projecting neck portion and slightly broadened terminal structure under EM. The morphologic features under AFM were similar to those observed by EM. The typical Mg showed shapes of flask and pear with noticeable narrow ring or mark in the neck portion. The size of Mg measured under EM and AFM was similar as well. Mycoplasma

Preparations of cell-free supernatant from Rous sarcoma "?????" were inocu-lated onto the chorio-allantoic membranes (CAM) of the chick embryos of 7--9 days in-cubation. The inoculated portions of the CAM were removed at various intervals from6 hours to 10 days afterwards. The tissues were fixed in Carnoy's solution and werestained with methyl green-pyronin for nucleic acid, Alcian blue-hematoxylin or Alcianblue-alum cochineal for acid polysaccharide and toluidine blue for metachromatic reac-tion. The pathogenesis of the Rous sarcoma of the inoculated CAM and the histo-chemical reaction of the nucleic acid and acid polysaccharide have been followed by his-tological examinations. Recognizable macroscopic lesions consisting of membrane opacity, focal thickening, oedema and discrete nodules in the inoculated CAM appeared from the first day on-ward. Distinctive hemorrhagic lesions and pocks were observed on the 3rd to the 5thday. Tumor masses of different sizes appeared from the 7th to the 9th day. In casethe CAM were inoculated with horse serum-saline, no or only slight reaction was ob-served, and the normal thickness and structures of the CAM were generally maintained. Three successive stages of the Rous sarcoma on the inoculated CAM weredistinguished: (1) Focal ecto-mesodermal proliferation with formation of earlytumor-like nodules; (2) Extreme ectodermal hyperplasia and early mesodermalsarcoma-like proliferation; (3) Ectodermal necrosis and extensive malignant growthof the mesodermal neoplastic cells. The fibroblasts, pyroninophilic round cells andthe ectodermal cells were the main types of cells concerned in the developmentof tumors following infection of the CAM Rous virus. The fibroblasts transformedinto tumor cells and became the most conspicuous elements of the Rous sarcoma. Thepyroninophilic round cells were considered to be belonging to the basophilic myelocyteseries, according to their morphological and staining characteristics. Their possible rolein the tumor infiltration was discussed. The intensity of the nucleic acid in the CAM cells increased along with the increaseof histopathological changes at the inoculated area of the membrane. The possible sig-nificance of their parallel relationship was discussed. Alcian blue staining of the growing tumor tissue demonstrated the presence of acidpolysaccharide reaction in the ground substance. The intensity increased with the increaseof the malignancy of the neoplastic cells. This material is non-metachromatic whenstained with toluidine blue and could be removed by treatment with testicular hyaluroni-dase for 3--5 hours. The mucin present is considered to be of a hyaluronic acid nature.
