Isoflavones as a kind of phytoestrogen exist in soy plant widely. With the advantages of estrogen, they can regulate endocrine function of the human body, reduce blood cholesterol, decrease the incidence of coronary heart disease, prevent osteoporosis, inhibit tumor growth, and relieve pain. This article summarized the investigations on the medical value of isoflavones in recent years.

Tau is a microtubule-associated protein th at can promote micortubulbe polymerization in vitro and can stabilize the asse mbled microtubules. Hyperphosphorylated form of tau comprises the main component of the paired helical filaments and neurofibrillary tangles found in Alzheimer s desease (AD). This paper reviews the functions and the prospects of tau in Al zheimers disease.

Objective: To study the relationship between depression and side effects of hemodialysis in elderly patients Method: 19 elderly patients and 32 adult patients regularly receiving hemodialysis completed SDS (Zung's Self-rating Depression Scale) Side-effects (complications) during their hemodialysis were recorded Results: Elderly patients had more complications than adult, such as hypertension, hypotension, headache, vomiting, ventricular and atrial arrhythmia (P60 had more above complications than elderly with SDS60, elderly had more hypotension, atrial or ventricular arrhythmia and less vomiting than adult Conclusion: In the period of hemodialysis, elderly patients with depression has more complications

Objective Medical statistics is an important tool in scientific research and practice.The article was to evaluate the current knowledge, learning needs and related influencing factors of medical statistics among medical doctoral students to provide references for the optimization in the teaching mode of medical statistics. Methods A questionnaire was used to investigate Grade 2014 doctoral students who took medical statistics course before and after the teaching in a medical university. Results The knowl-edge of doctoral students were at different levels and they had different learning requirements.More than 81.4% of the respondents have difficulty in the choice of scientific and reasonable design and the scientific design.Over 50%students had insufficient knowledge of advanced statistics and poor software application ability.They had the demands for more practical cases explanation in theory course, more software teaching hours and some short term specialized courses. Conclusion The university and teachers should carry out teaching reform according to the particularity of doctoral students and teach in small sections according to their knowledge levels of sta-tistics and learning requirements.It is suggested that the teaching should be combined with the students'own research projects in order to improve the teaching effect and improve the students'ability in sta-tistical design and solving the practical problem in scientific research statistics.

In this paper, 29 endophytes were isolated from different organs and tissues of Lycium barbarum of Ningxia by tablet coating method, 18 of them was fungi, and 11 of them was actinomycetes. The endophytes quantity in the different tissues were leaves > flowers > roots >fruits; The hydroxyl radical scavenging activities of 11 endophytes were investigated by Fenton reaction, and total antioxidant capacities of them were examined by a. total antioxidant capacity test kit; culture features and strain-specific sequence analysis were employed to explore the diversity of the 11 endophytes. The result showed that 5 fungi and 6 actinomycetes that having antioxidant activity could be phylogenetically classified into 3 genera, 3 genera and 3 families, respectively. The total antioxidant capacity and hydroxyl radical scavenging activity of the 11 endophytes showed distinct difference. The antioxidant activity of Aspergillus were stronger, among which total antioxidant capacity of fL1 was (188.5 ± 0.549) U · mL⁻¹ and the IC₅₀ was 0.3 mg · L⁻¹; the IC₅₀ of strain fL1 was 0.42 mg · L⁻¹ and the total antioxidant capacity of fL9 was (113.63 ± 1.021) U · mL⁻¹, all of them were stronger than the positive control Vit C. The experimental results indicated that endophytic fungi of L. barbarum of Ningxia have a great developing and application prospect for the development of antioxidant agent.

Objective To evaluate the effects of sevoflurane preconditioning and postconditioning on the activity of NF-κB during lung ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) in rats.Methods Fifty-four adult male Sprague-Dawley rats,weighing 300-350 g,were randomly divided into 3 groups (n =18 each) using a random number table:sham operation group (S group),I/R group and sevoflurane preconditioning and postconditioning group (SPP group).Lung I/R was induced by clamping the left pulmonary hilum for 45 min followed by 120 min reperfusion in I/R and SP groups.The left pulmonary hilum was only isolated but not ligated in group S.In group SP,2.1％ sevoflurane was inhaled for 30 min followed by 10 min washout,the left pulmonary hilum was then ligated for 45 min,and 2.1％ sevoflurane was inhaled for 30 min again starting from onset of reperfusion.Six rats were chosen at 30,60 and 120 min of reperfusion and sacrificed in each group,lungs were removed for determination of wet/dry lung weight (W/D) ratio and content of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) (by ELISA) and expression of nuclear transcription factor κB (NF-κB) p65 of nuclear protein (by Western blot) and for microscopic examination of the pathologic changes of lungs (with light microscope).Results Compared with S group,W/D ratio,TNF-α content and nuclear protein NF-κB p65 expression in lung tissues were significantly increased at each time point of reperfusion in I/R and SPP groups.Compared with I/R group,W/D ratio,TNF-α content and nuclear protein NF-κB p65 expression in lung tissues were significantly increased at each time point of reperfusion,and the pathological changes of lungs were attenuated in SPP group.Conclusion Sevoflurane preconditioning combined with postconditioning can reduce the lung I/R injury in rats through inhibiting NF-κB activity in lung tissues.

To observe the effects of sophoricoside and genistein on the biological characteristics of osteoblasts.

Objective To explore effective ways for community health service institutions to change patients' health service seeking patterns. Methods Yuetan Community Health Service Center of Fuxing Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University and 9 community health service stations under its subordination in the 1996～2002 period were selected as a representative of the community health service institutions to be studied and intervened while the headquarters of Fuxing Hospital in the same period was selected as a representative of the third-tier hospitals to be studied. A comparison was made between the two in outpatient volume change. Questionnaires were distributed randomly to residents of the Yuetan area where Fuxing Hospital is located in order to study their health service seeking behaviors each year from 1996 to 2002. Results As a result of hard work in the 6 years, Yuetan Community Health Service Center saw a steady increase in outpatient volume whereas the headquarters of Fuxing Hospital witnessed a steady decrease in outpatient volume. Survey via questionnaires sent randomly to permanent residents of the Yuetan area indicated a change in residents' health service seeking patterns. Conclusion It is effective and viable for community health service institutions to change patients' health service seeking patterns through providing social-psychological-biological community medical services, enhancing health education and setting up a two-way referral system with third-tier hospitals.

The seminar on novel ideas and methods in pharmacological researches,and new drug research and development of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),organized by the Professional Committee of Pharmacology on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Natural Medicine, Chinese Pharmacology Society,was held in Tengzhou,Shandong Province,on August 5,2016. Professor ZHANG Yong-xiang,chair of the committee,presided over the seminar. Professor LIU Jian-xun and LI Lin delivered keynote speeches. More than 30 members of the committee from all over the country attended the seminar. The participants had a broad and in-depth discussion on issues concerning phar?macological researches and new drug research and development of TCM. The ideas and proposals by some committee members were summarized,hoping to provide reference in the pharmacological researches and new drug research and development of TCM.
