With the deterioration of environment, and the excessive collection of wild resources, the wild populations of Myla- bris phalerata Pallas are less and less, almost extincted in many traditional distribution areas. It is necessary to breed M. phalerata artificially for sustainable utilization. Food preference of adult M. phalerata is the key to its provenance screening and domestication in the artificial breeding. In this paper, the food preference of 3 geographical populations of M. phalerata was studied. The results showed that the food preferences of adult M. phalerata in different geographical populations were different. The adult M. phalerata in Wuming preferred cucumber flowers, gourd flowers and melon flowers. The adult M. phalerata in Tianlin preferred cowpea flowers. And the adult M. phalerata in Guangzhou preferred cowpea flowers and gourd flowers. Gourd flowers were the most attractive food for the adult M. phalerata of 3 geographical populations of M. phalerata.

Chinese Journal of Perinatal Medicine 2011;14(2):98-101
Objective To investigate the relationship between the genesis of hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy and neurokinin B (NKB).Methods The serum NKB levels of 229 women including non-pregnant women (n = 62),normal pregnant women (n = 80) and pregnant women with preeclampsia (n=37) or gestational hypertension (n= 50) were examined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. The umbilical blood levels of NKB and the NKB mRNA expression in the pregnant women were also tested by fluorescent quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction technique.ANOVA and paired t-test were applied. Results (1)The maternal plasma NKB levels of normal pregnant women, patients with gestational hypertension or preeclampsia were significantly higher than that of non-pregnant women, respectively [(28.2±6.6)μg/L,(31.5±5.2)μg/L,(70.5±8.9)μg/L vs(3.2±1.8)μg/L,P< 0.01].In preeclampsia, gestational hypertension and normal pregnancy group, the NKB level in umbilical blood [(121.4±9.3)μg/L,(60.5±7.2)μg/L,(40.8±6.3)μg/L] were significantly higher than that of maternal plasma(P<0.01).(2) The maternal plasma NKB level in gestational hypertension group was higher than that in normal pregnancy group, while the difference had no statistical significance (P>0.05).The maternal plasma NKB level in preeclampsia group was higher than that in gestational hypertension group and normal pregnancy group (P<0.01).Forty-eight hours after delivery, the maternal plasma NKB levels significantly decreased in the normal pregnant, gestational hypertension and preeclampsia group [ (14.1±4.2) μg/L,(16.4±3.8) μg/L,(25.4±5.2) μg/L],compared to the values before delivery (P<0.01).(3) The expression of NKB mRNA in placenta of preeclampsia group was significantly higher than that of gestational hypertension group and normal pregnancy group [(3.8±0.6) × 10-3 vs(1.7±0.4) × 10-3 and (1.6±0.3) × 10-3,P<0.01].No statistical difference was found in the expression of NKB mRNA in placenta between gestational hypertension group and normal pregnancy group (P>0.05).Conclusions Elevated NKB level in placenta and maternal or umbilical blood might play an important role in the development of hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy.

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate therapeutic efficacy and safety of ubenimex combined with chemotherapy in the treatment of malignant tumor, and to provide evidence-based reference in clinic.METHODS:Retrieved from Central,PubMed,CJFD,VIP and Wanfang database, randomized controlled trials (RCTs) about ubenimex combined with chemotherapy (trial group) vs.single chemotherapy (control group) in the treatment of malignant tumor were collected. The quality of studies were evaluated by bias risk evaluation criteria of Cochrane system evaluator manual 5.1.0 after screening literatures and extracting data.Meta-analysis was performed by using Rev Man 5.3 statistical software.RESULTS:A total of 12 RCTs were included, involving 762 patients. The resuits of Meta-analysis showed that:shorter-term response rate [RR=1.24,95 % CI (1.08,1.43),P=0.002] and the improvement rate of life quality Karnofsky score [RR=1.69,95% CI(1.46,1.95),P<0.001] in trial group were significantly higher than control group;the incidence of gastrointestinal toxicity [RR=0.74,95%CI(0.57,0.94),P=0.02] and leucocyte suppression rate[Ⅰ °-Ⅳ°(<3 months):RR=0.54,95%CI(0.37,0.79),P=0.002;Ⅲ°-Ⅳ°:RR=0.44,95%CI(0.29,0.68),P<0.001] were significantly lower than control group, with statistical significance.CONCLUSIONS:Ubenimex combined with chemotherapy can improve malignant tumor,shorter-term efficacy and life quality, and reduce gastrointestinal and marrow toxicity.

OBJECTIVE:To systematically review the efficacy and safety of Elemene injection combined with chemotherapy in the treatment of gastric carcinoma, and provide evidence-based reference for clinical treatment. METHODS:Retrieved from CBM, CJFD,VIP Database,Wanfang Database,Medline,EMBase,Cochrane Library and American Medical Association Database,ran-domized clinical trials(RCT)about Elemene injection combined with chemotherapy in the treatment of gastric carcinoma were col-lected,Meta-analysis was performed by using Rev Man 5.3 software after data extracting and quality evaluating by Cochrane 5.1.0. RESULTS:Totally 7 RCTs were enrolled, involving 434 patients. Results of Meta-analysis showed recent efficacy [RR=1.38,95%CI(1.14,1.67),P=0.001] and improvement rate of life quality [RR=1.36,95% CI(1.15,1.60),P<0.001] of Elemene injection combined with chemotherapy in the treatment of gastric carcinoma were significantly higher than only chemotherapy. The incidence of Ⅲ-Ⅳ leukemia inhibition [RR=0.58,95%CI(0.37,0.91),P=0.02],incidence of Ⅰ-Ⅳ hemoglobin inhibition [RR=0.76,95%CI(0.60,0.95),P=0.02],incidence of Ⅰ-Ⅳ platelet inhibition [RR=0.69,95%CI(0.52,0.91),P<0.001] and Ⅲ-Ⅳ[RR=0.53, 95%CI(0.30,0.93),P=0.03] and incidence of Ⅰ-Ⅳ neurotoxicity[RR=0.69,95%CI(0.52,0.93),P=0.01] in test group were sig-nificantly lower than control group, the differences were statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS:Both efficacy and safety of El-emene injection combined with chemotherapy in the treatment of gastric carcinoma are good.

Chinese Journal of Biotechnology 2011;27(6):935-942
We established a stable Chinese hamster ovary (CHO-S) cell line for recombinant human VEGF165-expressing. We co-transfected GS-expression vector and rhVEGF165 expression plasmid into CHO-S cells, and selected the highest VEGF165-expressing clone as the working cell line to express VEGF165 protein. After 7-day fed-batch culture in a 5 L bioreactor and 3 steps chromatographic purification, we got the rhVEGF165 protein for series of binding and biological activity examination. The production was over 50 mg/L. The purified rhVEGF165 protein was functionally active with a half-maximal Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells (HUVEC) growth-enhancing effect concentration of 1.94 ng/mL. It was slightly better than commercially available Escherichia coli expressing rhVEGF165. So we expressed successfully rhVEGF165 protein in high-level and obtained the fully active rhVEGF165 protein in large quantity.
