Cerebellopontine angle meningioma originates usually from cerebellar tentorium and petrous bone, sometimes expands to the internal auditory canal. In this case, the meningioma extended to the auditory canal and pressed the VIII nerve causing hearing loss suddenly as an acoustic neuroma. Contrast CT-scanning revealed a neuroma with a normal auditory canal. The removed tumor was identified microscopically as a meningioma

47 studied cases aged from 18 to 75 years with a prevailing of women against men were diagnosed by CT-scanning and by MRI. The function of VIII nerve was assessed by clinical examination and by audiogramme. Tumors of VIII nerve occupied 8-10% of the total of intracerebral tumors and 70-80% of all cerebellous angle tumors. Microsurgery manifested good results for facial nerve function on 100% of small tumors, 40% of medium and 22.22% of large tumors. Functional hearing results were also evaluated with respect of the sizes of tumors. Complications of the surgery consisted mainly of cerebrospinal fluid leakage (2.12% of all patients). There were 8 cases of meningitis postoperatively, their 1 died. Complete resection of the tumor was accomplished on 63.8% of patients (consisting of 100% of small, 70% of medium and 61.1% of large tumors).

Exact diagnosis of the acoustic neurinomas depends on CT Scanner and Magnetic Resonance Imaging 41 of these 47 cases were done CT Scanner and MRI with 12 cases revealed the wonderful positive results in diagnosis. So it is very easy in order to choose the procedure in the treatment via CT Scanner and MRI.

About 10% of all intracranial tumors occur at the cerebellopontine angle(CPA). While the most common of these, accounting for about 75% of the total, are acoustic neurinomas, these-with widly varying histology-also comprise a significant portion. One of these is trigeminal neurinoma, which account for about 2-10% of all CPA tumors ; a cystic lesion is even rarer. The authors report a case of large cystic trigeminal neurinoma at the cerebellopontine angle and review of the pertinent literature.
