Objective To investigate the value of electroencephalogram(EEG), transcranial Doppler sonography (TCD), somatosensory evoked potentials (SEP) on evaluating brain function in coma patients. Methods The brain function in 72 cases of coma(mild coma 12,moderate coma 17,open eyes coma 4 and severe coma 39 cases) were examined using EEG,SEP ,TCD and scored. Results For the first time of exam, the results of EEG in 25 cases were electrical silence; no blood stream signalthe were found in 28 cases by TCD; the wave of P14 were disappeared in 26 cases by SEP and all of them belonged to severe coma group. For the second time exam, the results of finally EEG in 17 cases were electrical silence. The results of TCD in other 24 cases were surge waves and nail waves spectra eumorphism. Brain function grading: the EEG grade V in 42 cases, grade Ⅳ in 10 cases, grade Ⅲ in 14 cases were affirmed; TCD grade V in 28 cases, grade Ⅳ in 9 cases and SEP grade Ⅲ in 27 cases were affirmed. All the 28 cases of death and the most of 25 cases abandoned treatment for many reasons were belong to severe coma group. Conclusions The more severe of coma, the higher grade of EEG,TCD and SEP, the worse of prognosis. EEG,SEP,TCD testing can provide an objective indicator not only for evaluating brain function of coma patients, but aslo for estimating prognosis.

Objective To investigate the frequency of therapy-oriented oral radiation in Nanping, China and its distribution, and to provide a basis for the rational application of therapy-oriented oral radiation and the effective allocation of resources in Nanping. Methods A questionnaire was designed to investigate the frequency of therapy-oriented oral radiation in all oral radiation diagnosis and treatment institutions in Nanping. Results In 2021, there were 54 oral radiation diagnosis and treatment institutions and 79 oral radiation machines in Nanping. The total frequency of therapy-oriented oral radiation was 61593 visits and the radiation frequency was 19.54 visits per thousand patients. The average annual frequency of medical institutions at all levels was 721.87 to 3713.25 visits per institution; the male-to-female composition ratio of frequency of therapy-oriented oral radiation in December 2021 was 50.5%:49.5%. The proportion of radiation frequency of different devices was as follows: 38.7% (intraoral dental film), 46.5% (oral panorama), 10.3% (oral computed tomography [CT]), and 4.5% (cranial photography). The proportion of radiation frequency in patients of different ages was as follows: 17.1% (0−15 years), 48.2% (15−40 years), and 34.7% (over 40 years). The frequency of therapy-oriented oral radiation grew by 77.43%, 35.18%, and 8.16% every two years from 2015 to 2021, respectively. Conclusion The frequency level of therapy-oriented oral radiation in Nanping is at the level of Class II health care. The distribution of therapy-oriented oral radiation is highly unbalanced and is related to the level of economic development. Private healthcare institutions are growing rapidly, and public healthcare institutions of grade two and above occupy the main healthcare resources. The oral panorama accounts for the most, cranial photography accounts for the least, and oral CT is the fastest-growing portion. Therapy-oriented oral radiation is predominantly performed in the young and middle-aged populations, regardless of sex. Except for intraoral dental films, the general trend is upward.

Objective To investigate the status of human intestinal parasitic diseases in Nanping City from 2014 to 2018, so as to provide reference for the development of the effective control measures. Methods Administrative villages were selected using the two-stage cluster sampling in Nanping City from 2014 to 2018, and surveillance of human intestinal parasitic diseases was performed in 5 administrative villages in each county (district) of Nanping City. Intestinal parasitic infections were detected using a modified Kato-Katz thick smear method (two smears for a single stool sample) in villagers, and the hookworm species was differentiated. In addition, the eggs of Enterobius vermicularis were detected using the adhesive tape method in children aged 3 to 6 years. Results A total of 6 317 villagers were detected in Nanping City from 2014 to 2018, and the overall prevalence of human intestinal parasitic infections was 2.15%. There was year- (χ2 = 10.53, P < 0.05) and gender-specific prevalence of human intestinal parasitic infections in Nanping City during the study period (χ2 = 17.00, P < 0.01). The prevalence of human intestinal parasitic infections increased with age, and there was age-specific prevalence of human intestinal parasitic infections in Nanping City (χ2 = 102.62, P < 0.01). A total of 945 children at ages of 3 to 6 years were detected, and the prevalence of E. vermicularis infection was 3.28%. Conclusions The prevalence of human intestinal parasitic infections is at a low level in Nanping City from 2014 to 2018, and the infection mainly occurs in villagers of advanced age and low education levels. Further comprehensive measures are required to control intestinal parasitic infections in key populations.

BACKGROUND: Degeneration and regeneration after peripheral nerve injury is a very complex pathophysiological process. It still needs to investigate the promotive effects of electric stimulation in neuranagenesis.OBJECTIVE: To compare the effect and result of percutaneous nerve-muscle electric stimulation therapy in peripheral neuranagenesis of different position.DESIGN: A case analysis based on patients.SETTING: Laboratory of neuroelectrophysiology and department of orthopedics of a medical university affiliated hospital.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 78 patients with peripheral neurologic impairment proved by clinical diagnosis and electromyogram(EMG) were selected from the patients with peripheral nerve injury visited or hospitalized by the Department of Neurology and Orthopedics, Affiliated Hospital of Ningxia Medical University between October 1999 and June 2003.METHODS: Cantana EMG was used. Totally 78 cases received percutaneous nerve-muscle electric stimulation (PNMES) therapy for the observation of the restoration of peripheral nerve function. Therapeutic effectiveness of different course of disease was compared and analyzed by comparing and analyzing the EMG before and after therapy.RESULTS: In 78 patients with brachiplex nerve and sci atic nerve impairment, 53 cases had completely restored motor and sensory functions, 18 cases had significantly improved motor and sensory functions with the effective rate of 91% (71/78) after 1 to 10 courses of therapy. Post-therapeutic denervated potential, motor nerve conduction velocity(MNCV) and sensory nerve conduction velocity(SNCV) were significantly improved compared with that of before therapy.CONCLUSION: PNMES therapy can promote peripheral neuranagenesis, improve the local blood circulation of the impaired nerve and elevate the excitability of nerve and muscle.

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of gluocose-6-phosphate isomerase (G6PI) detected by an enzy-me linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods The G6PI was detected by ELISA in serum samples from 106 patients with RA, 53 non-RA controls with various rheumatic diseases, and healthy individuals. The level of rheumatoid factor (RF), anti-CCP antibodies and AKA were also assessed in RA patients. The correlation analysis beween G6PI and anti-CCP, IgM-RF. G6PI, anti-CCP, IgM-RF and AKA were carried out between patients with erosion and with non-erosion diseases . Results ① G6PI serum level of patients with RA was (1.61 ±1.20) μg/ml, and was (0.11 ±0.17) in patients with other rheumatic diseases, and (0.06±0.07) μg/ml in healthy individuals. There was statistical significant difference between RA patients and patients with other rheumatic diseases (P<0.05). Receiver operator curve analysis (ROC) showed an opitium cut off level for C6PI at 0.225 μl/ml. The sensitivity of G6PI was 0.868, the specificity was 0.853 in RA. C6PI was associated with RF, but was not associated with anti -CCP. C6PI ws not associated with disease activity index by Spearman' s correlation analysis. The association between above parameters with bone erosion was not detected, however. Conclusion C6PI is abnormally increased in some RA so it may be a new diagnostic marker for RA. G6PI has a reasonable sensitivity (86.8%) and with high specificity(85.3%) to RA and it is valuable for RA diagnosis. C6PI is associated with RF, but not completely overlaps. C6PI is not associated with diseases activity. No association is found between G6PI and bone erosions.
